Thanks for this, just bought a 4090 PC and was still a little disappointed with the view in VR on ACC, but these setting have made a huge difference, I can finally play my favourite sim in VR, and wow does it look good.
@@jasonzbell 1080ti probably not 4070ti or super is the lowest I would recommend, I have a 4070ti amd it works good now given you use open composite and not steam vr
I have a 7900xtx and always struggled with acc vr but also came across the guide posted in steam which was a game changer. My hints... 1, in oculus debug tool set vertical fov to 0.75 as this gives a huge gain for minimal fov loss.... you could lower more and get more headroom (it's like ultrawide vs widescreen), it's the easiest way to get more performance headroom. 2, in acc prioritise vr pixel density over resolution, mine is on 180% and resolution is 60%, test and you'll see higher pixel density is more obvious than resolution. 3, Using TAA gen5 comes with a big performance hit but does sharpen the image, test this on and off to see if it's worth it in your opinion, personally I'm still torn, I lose about 10% headroom. For me the revelation was changing fov in oculus debug tool, lowering in game resolution and increasing pixel density... it now looks and runs amazing. Oh and don't use FSR or DLSS.
Thanks for the info. I’m really happy with the results and I’ve still got a lot of headroom to play with. If there’s once thing they don’t tell you about VR is you’re always tweaking 😂
@@thesimracingshaolinstudent yeah it's constant tweaking. My annoyance with oculus debug tool is that it doesn't save fov setting, also it always uses ASW even though it's disabled, I have to start a game, enable ASW then disable it again to force it to apply. Also worth noting that you can increase airlink bit rate as long as you change encoding to h264, I am able to run 500mbps which looks great (without a cable), I think it can go higher but I see barely any improvement.
@@easybreeze1great when you get it right though for sure. Especially with ACC being so anti-VR friendly 😊 I still need to do some comparisons with cable vs all the wireless options.
Pro tip. When you launch Oculus PC link, you don’t have to go out of the link to interface with your Windows desktop. Along the menu bar near the right side, there is a button for Virtual Desktop. There you will get a really nice curved view of your Windows desktop where you can launch Crew Chief, Fanalab, select your audio device, and access the game from the Steam app. I never have to take off my headset or use the view cameras once I’m in the PC link. Just use the Virtual Desktop.
Thanks for this. Appreciate the tips 👍🏻 I’ve showed it this way in the video to keep it simple for the viewer. I do t use fanalab anymore and crew chief auto launches based on what Sim I’ve configured it to launch for 👍🏻 I launch the game and that’s all I need to do 🙏
I have been trying ACC in VR for years and always dropped it due to bad VR performance. This video by far was the best to find a great result. Thanks a lot good sir!
If you use the oculus tray tool instead of the debug tool, you can save profiles for each game which will then load automatically when you boot the corresponding game.
Thanks for the guide. It’s given me renewed enthusiasm to give this another go. Like for most, This is probably my hardest sim to get looking and performing right. The original AC is still my go to in VR with all the latest updates.
You’re very welcome. Let me know how you get on. I like you and others gave up on this title years ago after spending years on and off tweaking and tuning until I went mad. I’m so happy to add this to AC and AMS2 as another title I can now fully enjoy. 🙏
Watched 20 other videos none of them worked for me I gave up for a few months came across your video and now my quest 2 actually works thank you!! Still have some tweaking to do but I can actually race now before it would lag out before every race. I’m Running on a 12th gen i7 4050(laptop) have to test this on my desktop next
Thank you for the very kind words 🙏I’m very happy that you’ve found something that works and you can now enjoy ACC. The latest Nordschleife is amazing in VR. 👍🏻
Thanks for this I have looked at some more complex ones but this is a little bit simpler it'll probably need some tweaking but that link sec would hopefully be useful thank you for taking this time to put this together.
Ok. Finally i have great visual quality with ACC. I am motorcyclist so i used to use helmet. in Debug tool FOV 0.9 and 0.4 gets you to helmet view. So with my rtx 4090 and i9 11900k i can get pixel per display to 2 and others as yours. And in game settings VR setting to %200. And the best thing that affect also clarity is to get sharpness level to 250 or higher in game settings. I was saying that Ams2 is better in VR but now i have more clarity in ACC and it's wonderful.
Hi bud hope u are well, please please can you give us numbers for fps values everything on the same settings if possible not sure if you can do it headset side, I'm very interested in the quest 3, I'm running a quest 2 atm with a 4080 and 5800x3d I've got nice visuals and performance, but id really really like to know the performance hit going up to a quest 3, I use 90fps 1.5x in oculus settings, could u test and compare them in acc please, there is nothing I can find online yet.
Hey! I just found your new video and I think it probably will help me from my other comment to you on the "Meta Quest 3 for Sim Racing: Good, Bad & Mind-Blowing!" video. I'll start tweaking from this great information and see where I go with Project Cars 2 and ACC. Thanks for doing this video!
Cool, thanks for all the information to get the best performance with my Quest 3. I have saved a link to this video for future reference. I have all the SIM racing games you mention plus many more. Enjoy them all. Thanks for the video and take care.
Thanks a lot. Been struggling getting acc looking acceptable on a q3 with a 4090. Nice to have all this info in one place and run through without any added faffing about
I turned DLSS on with sharpening to 100% and changed VR pixel density to 200% then dropped vertical FOV to .5 in settings. Game looks way better than even this videos settings at the cost of it looking like you are wearing a helmet.
We need eye tracking for DFR in all future headsets. I don't have to drop many settings with my Quest pro. I have tried a quest 2, quest 3 and reverb g2 and this title runs/looks the best on the quest pro. I have to mention that I have 4090 also.
You can enable that by using the Oculus debug tool. It’s in the support folder of where you installed the Meta Quest app. If you can’t find it let me know 👍🏻
I gave up on ACC in VR. Distant objects (and I don't mean way off in the distance) look like crap. The amount of mucking around is to much. Thank goodness AMS2 and AC exist. They just work without spending half a day mucking about. If these setting fix the distant object details then great. No offense intended but every video says "now it looks amazing" but never mention the LOD of objects, including cars at distance. Like I said before I'm not talking about way off in the distance but a few car lengths.
I gave up too. So much in fact I bought a 49” curved just for ACC. After getting the Quest 3 it’s a game changer for me for ACC. Monitor has moved back to my desk and that’s that. If you have a beefy PC and a Quest 3 I’d say try it 👍🏻
@@thesimracingshaolinstudent Well if that's not a glowing recommendation I don't know what is. I have the HP G2s and have been very curious about the Quest 3. You may have tipped the scales. Good videos btw. Thanks.
Can't change encode bitrate in the oculus debug tool, can put upto 99 in on the keypad. I have copied from windows notepad but nothing happens when I right click in the box other than writing on the left highlighting in blue.
thank you very much would you like to make a video for cristal app settings etc and in game settings it's a problem for me ACC with cristal I can't play competitive it's not good enough graphically THANK YOU SO MUCH for your time and help
I did everyhting as u said but my graphics look different... white too blown out. colours very strong... any suggestions? *edit ... loading the baseline file seemed to work for me and adjusting settings up from there and getting rid of hdr
i don't have a video settings folder in there. is it because i haven't launched it yet? trying to make all these changes before i even launch so not disappointed and go and buy a new pc :) vs my 4060 laptop
Bro i literally bought Quest 2 to play ACC and I still cannot get it to work properly at the point i have given up. I will try all these hope it works out! thank you!
I tried these settings exactly, and the game still looks terrible and blurry, I have a 3080ti, I am not criticising your settings but something isn't working for me, could be that there is a bug and meta quest 3 is reverting to low res, no matter what I try. I AM also getting a message in Steam when opening the game stating this is not compatible with your headset, despite me choosing open with Oculus VR.
With Steam Link now being a thing. How much of this is still useful? Would the graphics preferences and the oculus debug tool settings still apply if you weren't using/running oculus link?
This guide is for the link cable but in game settings would still apply. After that you’re in the hands of Steam settings and tweaking them to give you head room in the headset to run the I’m game settings 👍🏻
Unfortunately the truth is that you need 4090 to get anywhere with ACC and VR. Otherwise you will need to reduce a lot on fidelityto geep 60/70 fps. Its very demnading in terms of GPU.
4080 Super, 64g Ram, 10900k CPU (which I know is the bottleneck)....@@thesimracingshaolinstudent. Followed everything you said, used your Best JSON file, and turned mirrors to v low. Game looks awful, just awful. I strongly suspect the AVI codec in Steam VR is better... But thanks again, interesting videos!
The Debug tool. When you do changes to the values, does this effect ALL Games at once? I have AMS2 all perfect for example and i dont want to change the debug settings. Or do you have to do this EVERY time you want to play that particular sim?
Thanks for this, about to get Quest 3 and on ACC mostly so very good timing. One thing though, the LynxSec ACC Guide link fails, comes back with an SSL error.
@@thesimracingshaolinstudent - thanks, can access that link now although iniitally does throw up an SSL error but after a few seconds the page loads. One more question please; above you mentioned two different ACC video config files and in the video you initially loaded one of them but at the end of the video you mentioned the other one - is one the recommended settings from the LynxSec page and the other you're personal tweaks to those settings? My Quest 3 has arrived so hopefully can test this all out tonight!
Yes exactly that. So the first “VR baseline” file contains the settings from LynxSec and then from there I tweaked those to become my settings “S3 - 80hz - 4090 - Best” for those that do have a Quest 3 and a 4090. Hope that makes sense 👍🏻
@thesimracingshaolinstudent Hey buddy love your channel, i just subscribed !!! If its not too much to ask, what type of graphics card are you running brother? i just want to kinda gage my starting settings based on what you have. I have a 3090 graphics card but wasnt sure how much lower i should start. Apologies for being lazy lol but i wanted to try and be as close as possible from the start and then test from there... Anyway THANK YOU for all of the content and helpful hints with VR !!!!
Thank you for the kind words and I’m glad you’re enjoying the content! 🙏 I’m running a 4090. I would start at the max and then work back from there if you need to. The 3090 is still a beast for sure 👍🏻
Awesome brother thank you so much man since my last comment i probably watched 10 of your videos man its an incredible amount of great content !!!! really appreciate the help !!!@@thesimracingshaolinstudent
I know a 3090ti at higher resolutions (4k) sort of falls in performance wise between a 4070 super and a 4070 ti. Figure a non ti 3090 will be closer to being between a vanilla 4070 and 4070 super to give you an idea of where it falls within the performance on the newer 40 series cards.
can somepme help me to config for rtx 3050? my english is really bad but my father really want to play acc vr but he and i have a lot of issues if the game itself end meta quest 3
With render resolution, I can run 1.1x no problem but as soon as I go to 1.2x the game is unplayable. Like I go from 90fps to 2 fps. Do you have any idea why this is happening?
Hey, I’m afraid not no. Most will be but I wouldn’t like to say which ones without me actually having a Pico4 to test it with. I’ve already approached them to see if they’ll send me a headset over to test it with 👍🏻
So is it better to use the oculus link instead of virtual desktop with steam Vr or the steam link app with steam Vr. Im about sick of trying different apps and different settings lol. And i assume using the cable will be better in the end then using my dedicated wireless 6e router when im sitting in a rig anyway. Also will it increase gpu headroom if i turn off my main display when in vr or drop the resolution for windows way down from 4k. Every vr game i play is also displaying on my main display and in 4k best i can tell and changing the resolution in game does nothing for the display or headset. Running the main display has to be eating a big amount of my gpu.
So it’s negligible to have the screen output on a monitor as well as the VR headset. The image shown on screen is a mirror of what’s in the headset so has already gone through processing. Will the cable be better? Providing you have a good USB3.x port and are getting good speeds when you run the test and you already have a good link cable then I would use that yes. There are so many other factors to consider with wireless that could go wrong so I have just removed it from the list of things that could go wrong.
When I launch ACC, I can see the game on a virtual display within my Meta Quest 3. I can also see the Quest Link bar. I cannot get the game to display like yours does where I'm virtually in the vehicle. What settings am I missing to achieve the view you have, even though I've followed the steps in this video verbatim?
Try launching in steam VR instead of oculus mode when you launch from steam...I couldn't get Oculus mode to work it gave me a warning about my headset being not compatible and then launched it in desktop mode instead of VR. Launching in steam VR mode worked but i guess it doesn't run as good?
So I’m on a beefy PC and followed this guide step by step and ACC somehow looks a complete disaster. It’s like there’s a super contrasty colour profile it’s picking up from somewhere. Filled in shadows and completely blown out whites, also extremely saturated. Anyone any ideas? It runs fine at a decent frame rate, just looks awful.
@@thesimracingshaolinstudent thanks for the reply. So I loaded in both of those settings you linked to and it’s the same. It looks like it’s picking some kind of colour profile from somewhere and I don’t know where. I tried altering pretty much everything but to no avail. AMS2 looks and runs perfectly. ACC runs well but looks a dogs dinner.
@@thesimracingshaolinstudent I’m on the quest 3. I’ll check those setting this evening when I’m home. I tried loading both settings one after the other but they’re both giving me this mess of a game visually and no matter what I did with the various sliders it didn’t help. I’m thinking it’s nothing to do with the settings but something else effecting it from somewhere. Launching in non VR mode it runs and looks superb.
ok is not my problem its the game cause i run ac and project cars 2 or ams2 10X better with my 3070... so ACC love the game but not for ma meta3 !!! thanks all
you can't do anything with ACC, you have a bad engine that can't focus on distant objects, and therefore, except for the cockpit, the game is completely blurry, you can do whatever you want, but it won't help
I thought I was the only one lol. I’m using a 4060 laptop but I had all the settings on ultra and the frames were fine but the game still looked like shit I was expecting it to at least look like gt7 vr and its not even close
I have 4090 and the cockpit is so real but the distance is all blurry, I’ve followed your tips but it no better , I can’t get the 850 to stay though even after cutting and pasting it in
I have 50 hour of playtime in ACC.......options Menu! There is no way to archive the same Performance like Assetto or Automobilista or Rfactor2 or or or... ACC is a great Simulator but absolutly bad in VR. Dont waste your time
But of a misleading clickbait title. Genuinely find your videos helpful so thanks. But it is well known and confirmed that you really have to have a 4X card to get anything out of this game VR wise at decent FPS with decent - not amazing - visuals. Or min, a 3080 or equivalent. In terms of graphical fidelity, you simply cannot get anything out of this game with less - in VR. Fact. So shouldn’t the title be (for high end cards only!)? Should be stated right at beginning, too. I know someone at Kunos who says the same. So come on man, tweak that title so us 2X card users don’t waste our time 😂 Again, really appreciate your videos. Just honest feedback.
Appreciate the feedback 👍🏻 I hear what you're saying with regards to the 4090 for sure but I couldn't get ACC to where I've got it now with my Valve Index and my 4090. And I spent far too long trying to get it to a place where I just didn't turn away at first sight. But with the Quest 3 that's all changed for me. 🙏🏻
Sorry if sounded harsh, appreciated your excellent videos. I’ve just got the 4080 super. Not much joy with oculus link. But it’s a CPU issue. Find I can run ACC far far better using Virtual Desktop/ Steam VR. But still no where near I’d like it to be. Turns out, according to a friend who works with Kunos, this is one of the most demanding sims on a CPU. Mine is a i10900k. Just not good enough. So I either buy a new /cpu and MB or persevere or put up with average graphics in VR (which doesn’t work for me!) . I will take another long look at your settings. Don’t suppose you offer private setup consultancy - totally willing to pay for an hour of your expertise ! ? 😊 oh, and AC2 is “mind blowing”. Heads up. Ps AMS2 is sublime in VR. Shame it’s not a very good sim with weird physics. Idea for new video - those like me upgraded with 2nd best gpu but average cpu. Waste of money if you don’t upgrade your cpu…or can you enlighten us how to tweak to get high fidelity and 90fps/ Avi codec in virtual desktop works better than Oculus as that relies on two cpu driven codecs. Also - top tip: head to horizon horizon movement in game to 85%. This can only be done once in pits. Not in main menu.
It’s also worth noting that no game in VR, with the headset strap to your face, looks anything like it does on RU-vid! That’s not any criticism, just pointing something out for other people watching this excellent video.
@@mark_lhr3 hey Mark sorry for the delay. Yeah ACC is pretty demanding for sure and no need to apologise. I have been thinking about offering help to people for sure. Let me give it some more thought and come back to you 🙏
Just got the quest 3 and like so many others, am completely dissatisfied with how everything outside the cockpit is as blurry as trying to see through a bottle of mud. Followed your video to the letter and nothing changed. I just don't know what to do at this point. How can it be THIS bad? I've watched so many videos on the subject and not one of them has fixed this blurry mess. I don't understand what's wrong and really can't understand how so many people rave about this. It's just awful.
