@@stevotloaded6288 oops sorry I thought I did. Anyways, I went TTS (size 9). Thursday recommends half size down because leather tends to stretch over time so it'll feel snug on you at first but once you break it in, it'll be comfortable but I didn't want to wait for the break in period.
Thanks so much for your detailed review of our Matte Captain! As you continue to wear the boots the leather develops more character overtime so that you can enjoy your boots for years to come! Best, Kendra from Thursday
@@azrlrff I think I responded to your request in another video comment. We typically recommend going with the size you wear in other leather dress shoes and boots. If this is your size in most shoes and boots, it sounds like a US 7.5 would be a great place to start!
@@marti_micfly7416 Hey Martin! This shouldn't be a problem. You can add additional protection if you're going to be in heavier rain or snow conditions. This is still a leather boot so in general, you should be careful not to overexpose your leathers to water.
Great video. You showed these off perfectly, not only by showing us what they look like on foot but also not going all out with the outfits and keeping it simple unlike most videos attempting to show off the boot. Great points and also great editing showcasing the look's. Been eyeing these for awhile, might go for em.
Just got mine today! Can confirm...they did listen to you. They are now ridiculously stiff and will require a lot of break in. I, personally, love that they are handmade and that you can tell by looking at them. They have what some might call slight imperfections, but I call it character.
awesome! the break in period wasn't too bad for me and I agree, the quality and craftmanship on this boot is really good even with it's slight imperfections.
Thank you card that you don’t really care about? actually, I love when they do that it shows they care about your business to some extent The all black Johnny cash look is the best
Thinking about it, its pretty nice because they also have a real person's signature. So I take back what I said. Thanks for watching and all black is always the best 👌
@@MensFashionFiles SERIOUSLY. Great-looking, out of the box-comfort; unreal! They are pretty rugged in design. Not on the level of my Redwing Heritage 875's, but that's a whole different story. Overall, HIGHLY RECOMMEND these for Various dress styles comfort and Build Quality! Handmade boots, at Thursday's Price point, it's a WIN. 🫱🏽🫲🏽
Love the outfits at the end! I enjoy my boots but also worried about the rain. Good to know they keep my socks dry a bit. Only thing i would say is an all black outfit doesnt on all skin tones. For instance if youre really pale and/or pinky, i think it highlights the skin in a sickly way.
According to tbc, the R&R line of boots have leather and cork insoles so it's more Cush in the forefoot compared to the Classics. Also, the Classics also have a more rounded toe than the R&R line of boots. Just thought you should know. Thanks for your video. Great job!
I've experienced quality issues with their Rogue boots. Maybe their Captains are better or I've just had bad luck with the Rogue. Although the Captains look mean in black. 🤘
@@MensFashionFiles Upon trying to find my right size, I've seen melted/warped TPU studs on the sole, a boot fitting much looser than the other boot, goodyear welt stitching issues (holes missing stitching) They did offer me to take it to a cobbler with reimbursement or another exchange. But that's just more wait time and time in traffic when the exchange might not work out again. So I'm thinking about what to do. A return might be better after my experience in quality.
I'm sorry to hear that you were having trouble with your Rogue boots. We do stand by the quality of our boots and we want to make sure you are taken care of. Please send us a direct message. We want to make sure you are taken care of!
I have both matte and suede and they are both great. I think if you're looking for a more casual look, then I would go with suede. Leather is usually a bit more dressy.
I got them for the first time and they left me with insane blisters on the heel of my feet. is this normal? is it just because I have to break them in a little more?
IF these are the boots i think that they are, i had a black pair when i was 18/19 yr's old. "Way back" in the 70's. I've been looking for these boots, ever since. In, "the hood", in Boston, they were called: JobMaster's. Anyone else recall this name? At the very least, they come "very close, to" the boots i owned.
Just got my first pair in today in Arizona Adobe! They smelled so good as soon as I opened the box and they look so nice. Do I need to apply any water proof to it or anything before I wear them?
Hey, I just received my captain boots and I have a question about fitting. I ordered half a size down from my shoe size as recommended on their site, but there is a bit of heel slippage and the place where the boots bend is closer to the laces than it seems like it should be. Overall they actually fit well and I know I can't go smaller because they're already pretty tight to put on, but do you think most of the "issues" will go away with more wear?
honestly, I think they look great. I heard a lot of good things about their sneakers and how their Horween leather is high quality. Doesn't look like the new white sneakers uses Horween though but $129 doesn't sound like a crazy high price compared to shoes like common projects.
Just curious how is the size for you? My shoe size is 10.5. So I got size 10. Way too tight. So I ended up with 10.5 wide and fits just right for me. 🙄
hey Thomas! yea I didn't listen to them when they said to get half a size down lol. My boot is in a size 9 which is what I normally wear. I think Thursday recommends half size down because leather tends to stretch over time so it'll feel snug on you at first but once you break it in, it'll be comfortable.
I know what you mean, I love Thursday boots but sizing is all over the place. I wear a 10 in sneakers, and in the Burnt Ginger Captains the 9.5 fits perfect, so I ordered these Matte Blacks in a 9.5 and they were way too tight, exchanged for a 10 and still too tight, so now I will try a 10 wide and see if that does the trick, my feet are on the cusp of being wide so we'll see....do you have wide feet?
My first pair of Thursday’s are the Matt black captains. One boot fits fine but the other rubs my heal a bit too much for my liking after a few wears. Hopefully it will break in over time. The feel of the boots is also a bit stiff as you walk. So much so that how the foot plants on the ground is not a natural relaxed process and more like walking in ski boots. So right now I have mixed feelings about Thursday’s boots.
How long have you had the boots for? I haven't got the chance to wear them out that much since quarantine but I do agree with you on the stiffness. I do expect them to break in since real leather tend to soften over time.
@@MensFashionFiles I have only worn them four times all day so have to wrap my mind around a longer break in time. Thank you for your outfit suggestions. It’s nice to see other looks with these boots other than the all black.
@@nottsforest69 It's not the boots, my friend, it's your feet! We all have one foot that's slightly larger than the other. Most of the time it's not an issue, but for some of us, the larger foot is *more* than slightly larger. I once knew a man who had to buy two pairs of boots/shoes inorder to get one pair. His right foot was a ten and a half, while his left was an eleven!! Most people aren't that different, and can correct the problem by taking the boot/shoe to a cobbler, who can stretch the boot. Often, they can stretch the specific area, and leave the rest of the piece as is. Good luck!!
You will get use to it. Once you get use to it it kinda becomes a style. Now i don't like walking in other boots coz they don't make me feel anything. I mean landing the feet while walking.
I want to buy these but website says get 1/2 size smaller then sneakers is that true I have other type of boots that are 9 1/2 and fit me that’s my normal size sneaker don’t want to get a 9 wait for them n have to return for different size I’m impatient lol want to get them and wear them please help someone ???
hey Kyle, the pair I got is TTS and it fits very well right now. Since these boots are made from leather it will stretch over time. If you buy half size down, it'll feel a little snug on you at first but after you break it in, it should be fine.
I have the same question. After reading a lot of reviews it seems like different colorways of the captain fit different. Some run big and some tru to size. After wearing these more do you still recommend going TTS?
@@hugocorrea8426 Yes, if I were to buy another pair, I would go with TTS. Hmm interesting, I would think that the Captains would fit the same despite the different colors as long as its made with the same cattle hide leather. If I were to size down, these would for sure be very snug on me and I'm a pretty impatient person when it comes to breaking things in. Hope this helps Hugo!
I know I'm probably too late. But I had to go down a full size from my usual. I'd buy one in half a size for and one a full size and return the pair that don't fit.
Ok quick question. What levi jeans do you recommend the most with these? If you could give me a top three list that would be so helpful. I just got the 512's but then just saw your jeans review, and saw that the 511 and 502 would be good contenders as well. Please lmk your opinion. Thanks!
Feels a bit tight at first but Thursday recommends you to go down a size because real leather tends to stretch over time. I chose to go TTS because I didn't want to deal with the break in period.

I haven't worn these boots as much as I like to (only worn about 5 times), it seems like it creases easily and the leather does stretch out after the first few wears.
