The metro system in Valencia is known as MetroValencia. There are currently 10 lines running. The metro is a reliable, fast, and easy way to get around the city. It is also clean and comfortable, with air conditioning in the carriages.
If you want to use the metro or tram, you can purchase a single ticket at the ticket machines located in every station. You can also purchase a reusable card at any kiosk or tobacco shop. The metro operates from 4:00 AM to 11:00 PM on weekdays and from 5:00 AM to 12:30 AM on weekends.
Buses are another great way to get around Valencia. The bus network is extensive and covers all areas of the city. Buses are a good option for medium to long journeys, or if the metro doesn't reach your destination. Buses in Valencia run from 4:00 AM until 10:30 PM. After 10:30 p.m., you can take the night bus. Night buses run until 2:00 AM on weekdays and until 3:30 AM on weekends.
Public bus journeys have various rechargeable options are also available, such as the Bono Card, Mobilis Card, or the new SUMA card.
If you only visit Valencia temporarily, public transportation is a convenient way to see much of the city in a limited time. With so many options, you are sure to find a way to get around Valencia that is efficient and affordable.
▶️Important Tips:
• You need to hail the bus
• Board the bus through the front door and exit through the back door (and middle door if available).
• Always remember to tap your card when entering and leaving the Metro. For the tram, one tap upon entry is sufficient.
• At some above-ground stations, free platform access is available, but remember to tap your card on the column-like devices to register your entry.

Great video on on public transportation, this is one of the many reasons why I’ll be moving and retiring to Spain hopefully within 3 years, and Valencia is at the top of my list! I’m planning on taking a trip to Spain in late Spring of 2024 for 2 weeks of which 3-5 days will be in Valencia. Keep up the good work, I’ll be following your adventures and experience living in Valencia (Spain). When I’m there in late Spring 2024, I would love to take both of you out to dinner ( on me ) on your recommendation! Take care and keep living the dream!

Ola! I've been loving your informative videos about the Valencia area. We are planning a trip to Valencia this coming late October to visit our son who will be there this coming school year during his freshman college year. Wondering if you can tell me a few of your favorite side area trips? We were thinking of heading to Alicante and that area for a few days. We will have 10 days total and will stay in Valencia for at least 5 days before we head to other areas. Thanks so much!

I only have one question. When you get on a bus/tram/tube and you validate your ticket the first time, do you have to validate it again if you change buses/trams/tube (assuming your bus doesn't take you where you need to go, and you have to make a transfer) and your trip is still within the 90 minutes from first validation and it will still count as 1 trip, or do you not have to validate it at all as long as your trip hasn't exceeded the 90 minutes from first validation? Thank you so much for your videos, I find them sooo helpful and you two are very adorable so it's always a fun watch :-)
@EverythingIsBoffo
@EverythingIsBoffo 3 месяца назад
Hi thanks for watching! I don’t quite understand your question. If you board a bus 2x within 60 minutes (sorry it’s not 90 minutes anymore) the second ride is free. ☺️ you do have to tap the card each time you board.
@erazembaskovec4574
@erazembaskovec4574 3 месяца назад
@@EverythingIsBoffo Oh yes, tap is what I meant, not validate. Does it also work with transfers like bus>metro and vice versa, will the second ride also be free?
@EverythingIsBoffo

@@erazembaskovec4574 from my experience no. I think it’s only the bus. But it’s still a reasonable price per ride.

Hello very nice video! thanks! Can I share my card also for my wife for metro? So the instructions will be like activate it, go through barrier. Then pass to wife and then she activates it go through barrier. So now we have 2 trips count on this single card. And then we arrive to destination. So what’s better a tourist card or a regular transit card if staying more than 5 days
@EverythingIsBoffo
@EverythingIsBoffo 11 месяцев назад
I think it depends on how much transportation you will be using on those 5 days. The city is very walkable and most touristy spots are close together. A regular transit card will be more cost effective if you don’t need to use the bus/metro often and can be shared by more than 1 person because it’s per trip. And then you can reload as needed.
