Hey all!! Following up on the questions around what the decibel difference is inside and out of the Aux Box studio. Inside, playing at full volume - we average around 99.1db with a max peak of 109.8db. Immediately outside the front door, on the Aux Box porch with the door sealed, the same drumming yields an average of 72.8db and a max of 81db. Almost a 30db drop within 5ft walking inside to out. A little further away, about 30ft, the average volume is 51db with a max of 70db. And inside the house (next to the studio) with the doors and windows closed, the volume average is 45db, with a max of 55db. For reference, 40db quiet whisper 60db quiet street 70db normal conversation 80db loud singing 90db motorcycle 94db food blender 100db subway 110db power mower 120db chainsaw 140db jet plane 180db rocket launch
Since this video (literal day of install) we moved the drums around the studio to find the best sound - we found that having them face out from the Strata wall (drummers back is close to wall) gets the best acoustics and environment for recording.
I think I've found what I want from audiomute to help with sound on my level of the house, but how well would one of those sub woofer pads help reduce sound with my down facing sub? The guy below me might thank me.
We definitely suggest reaching out to Audimute directly. They are great at talking through your audio setup and how their system can help achieve your acoustic goals 🙌
When exactly in the past 40 years did drummers count them selves off with stick clicks to play alone? It is as if a conductor, when going over a score by themselves, pre-conducted the tempo to the tempo they’re going to be conducting…
