The problem is that this is $6,000+. All of these batteries from ecoflow, bluetti, etc (all companies, not trying to single out ecoflow) are TOO EXPENSIVE for regular people. We need this delta pro ultra to be sold for $2,000 OR LESS. And keep scaling that down for the smaller batteries. Delta 2 max for $500 for example. Sell these for prices like that, with no other changes (no reduction in quality, capability etc). That’s what it would take for these to really have an impact. This is one of the best channels on RU-vid. Thank you for your excellent reviews and information.

Especially with LFP batteries now off-patent, they have become incredibly cheap. You can get 6-7kwh worth of LFP for less than $1000 now. Heck, for roughly the same $9000 you can get the EG4 PowerPro setup, which has a ton more capability as a stationary system. Much higher solar input and nearly double the AC output. Now I get that this ecoflow setup has a packaging and portability benefit. But seems like this setup is going to be primarily stationary anyways.

Right now I can order this up for $5k. Since it can qualify for the 30% home energy tax credit, when wired up to the house, a final net cost of $3.5k seems pretty impressive for what you get.
@sociopathmercenary

@@steveallwine1443I agree that the pricing on these systems is great for what you get. I don't need mobility so I would probably go with an EG4 system as the input and output are a lot higher and necessary for me to fully back up my all-electric house. Batteries and inverters can only get so cheap.

Cost is my barrier. It would be different if my power were unstable but in 10 years we have lost power only a few times for more than a few seconds. The longest was 3-4 hours for a planned electrical upgrade in the neighborhood.
@waydegardner7373
@waydegardner7373 6 месяцев назад
As others have said, price is the barrier based on utilization. My 4250w propane inverter (on a 250gal tank) powers the basic necessities in all seasons. In Texas, we may lose power 1-2 times over a few years in our area. If we lived in a different area, this might be practical.

@@SilverCymbalhow will this type of power generator if I can call it that do in my garage where my panel is located. My garage is is a 2 car garage that sits under both the front 2 bedrooms in my townhome. The garage can get over 90 degrees in the summer at certain times of the day. Will this cause problems for these batteries or are they able to handle it. In the winter the garage gets down so far at the lowes at around 49 degrees. We know the 49 is not as much of a problem as 90-95 degrees. Also who in the world can I get help from to set up the best electrical connection to my panel that will actually have full knowledge of this product and know all the pieces they can use to give me the best connection setup? Especially if we got their smart panel. We do have a 6 gauge wire coming out of the panel going to a box that we can easily put a 50 amp rated outlet on it since the wire is connected to a 50amp breaker in the panel. It was installed for us with our newly built home last year for a future car charger if we ever go one. We probably never will. Lol. Anyway we really need to find out if this type setup will hold up well in a garage that can get that hot for a few months out of the year here in South Carolina up near the upper western part of the state where it does not get extremely hot for very long. Batteries can have issues if it’s to hot. Anyway thanks for your video and help with my question.

I kinda had a wake-up call last night. I underestimated this snow storm we just got. My power flickered I bet over a hundred times, but never fully failed (but many others did 😕 and are still out). I "pre-overheated" my home to 77° last night (just in case power did go out, I'd have a couple/few hours of the extra heat already built up) and I got the natgas fireplace and generator ready. Luckily I didn't need them.

Great review, awesome product, the thing is if your without power for any length of time your going to deplete battery in a few days unless you very conservative and then you have to have a large solar bank to recharge it or run a gas generator to recharge it. Probably better off just getting a 10,000 watt gas generator or having a Generac backup power system installed, that's what we are using, our runs off of propane and does a good job, much cheaper then these battery generators and the massive solar panels you need to recharge them. We have some friends that live off-grid and their primary source of power is a diesel generator, this thing is massive, it runs constantly around idle speed and gives them 240 volts and 110 volts with no issues and it uses very little fuel.

The ability to output 240v while charging with 120v is a big deal. Since most big 240v loads don’t run constantly, it would be theoretically possible to power a house with one of these and a small inverter generator for days, while using less gas and making less noise than a large open-frame generator.

Yes correct, the balancing the two stacks was something I don't think any of us had realized until using it. @andrewt9204 6 месяцев назад
LFP is very safe especially in a solar setup where you're never outside that 1C rate. LFP electrolyte has a much higher combustion point. Even dead shorting a cell only creates a bunch of smoke. Same as a lead acid. LFP also has a longer lifespan that lead acid, by a huge margin when you factor in total kWh throughput. It's not even close. Also cost is about the same or cheaper if you DIY over lead acid per kWh now. Your information is quite outdated now.

I am considering it because I have a 7500 watt gas powdered generator that has served me well through years of short duration power outages. If this Ecoflow Ultra can deliver a 24 hour run of powering my house (like the gas generator can), then I am going to give this a good, hard look. An instant on generator upgrade to the gasoline powered generator is going to cost me $15k to $20k. If I can backup my current gasoline generator with the Ecoflow Ultra for $6k or less, then it seems like it's something to consider.

@jamesmcshane818
@jamesmcshane818 2 месяца назад
@shawnakbynum Running lights will depend. If you have LED bulbs, that are 10 watts and you had say 10 on you could run 10 lights for around 60 hours. A fridge will vary depending on what type of fridge etc but you could run a fridge off the single battery for roughly 7-17 hours. AC depends on the size, but AC on a single battery with no solar will drain the battery fast since they use 3 to 3.5 KWH an hour. 2 hours or less of run time would deplete a single battery. If you had solar plugged into it you could extend that battery life but that would depend. Id say, a few lights on, the fridge on and the AC you would deplete the battery in just a handful of hours without solar assisting.

@@SilverCymbal Thank you! I’ve got an RO filter in my (large) crawl space that supplies only the refrigerator at the moment. I’ve been considering a delivery pump but was thinking about adding a second water tank (just like the one that came with my RO system) after the pump. Looking forward to your video, as always!

Will be nice when they come out with an automatic 240v smart generator with the option to charge 240v while output 240v from the dpi at the same time. and in regards to the batteries like the other gentleman mentioned below those batteries are way $$$ a 5kwh on the market sales for $1,300 and the EF battery for $3k for 6kh it's almost 3 X the price at $2k would be so much better I'm sure others are considering the DIY system since tou can get 30kwh for $8k vs $15k EF

@@SilverCymbal yes. You are my #1 source for anything home related. I’ve wanted eco flow back up for a year but wife is resistant due to cost. We do have a 2 year old - never used Generac 8000 watt gas generator that hooks up to our circuit breaker via the 240v like you just showed. But….id have to siphon gas from the vehicles to keep it running in the event we can’t get to the store, etc. but I have prepared for that occasion as a possibility so we could handle it nicely. As long as I can keep my wife’s food frozen, and cooked if necessary I’m fine. She has crazy allergies and can only eat very specific foods or she can end up in the er. She eats one type of rice, turkey, carrots, blueberries. That’s it. Every day. All day. Every meal.

separate controller and batt packs if that's the design here is definitely the way to go... however that price is way out of my budget. For as long as they stay legal, a decent generator and good supply of fuel is 1/4 of the price.
@larryfine4498
@larryfine4498 6 месяцев назад
That price is a deal breaker. I have a 6500 watt gas unit I've owned for 15 years. I paid $299 for it. I'll never understand the rush to these battery banks. They will fail the test of time.

Very interesting. I am sure that a price of 4 500$ to 5 000$ in Canadian money would be very interesting. Maybe, government will give subvention and this will help to buy 3 000 per year in Quebec for the first year. I know that batteries are very costly. In French. Continuez votre excellent projet. Du Québec Canada

If I'm not mistaken, the 10 year estimated lifespan on LiFePo cells is based on number of discharges. If you're not using this unit as a main power source and discharging completely every day, it's entirely reasonable to expect more life out of the cells. Also, the cells will still retain some capacity after that point, so even though the company can't guarantee the product can operate at advertised ratings, you could still either operate the unit in a lower capacity (If the electronics will let you) or uh... void your warranty if you know what I'm saying (and not endorsing, as it risks injury lol) So anyway, it's insane that battery chemistry is getting THIS good. The cells in this battery could theoretically still be putting out some charge in 20 years, I have no reason to question that Ecoflow's cells are second rate.
@SilverCymbal
@SilverCymbal 6 месяцев назад
You are absolutely correct, the lifespan using this as a backup could be much much longer than that.

They do not need to. They don't need to be activated or anything like that. The internet is never required. But you will likely want firmware upgrades but those are dione through your phone and the app if desired. But it does not need a connection to operate

Correct and at quite a high level as shown. It's a game changer since you get clean 240v out and can use all sorts of 120v inputs, gas generators, other batteries, even litte jackeries. Kind of like the modern day version of grabbing every gas can you have got and filling up your car.

Is it possable to just run a gas generator, 240v to the DPU for charging on cloudy days. Then run a 240v out from the DPU to a small breaker box for distributing small loads for off grid living? This is just for a single DPU unit.
