STORY OF THE FAMILY: Not sure how to begin telling my story, but here’s what led to this monstrosity of a deplorable home.
After 9 years of being in a domestic violence relationship I finally got away from the abuser. I was slowly becoming more confident and doing well. COVID gave me and others in my home cabin fever and I began drinking. While being constantly harassed by the abuser from afar and my family fighting with me over something minor like invitations to a function , I get told some very personal disturbing information that crippled and devastated me. Guilt and shame drove me to the unthinkable and I was on life support. After surviving I was sent to the appropriate setting but was released with no available aftercare and then the self medication with alcohol started and I just slept. No one else bothered cleaning since I always did and it lasted for two years until I was looking to get help and hire help but I got sepsis from a relative who was brain dead but was a donor so I went to their bedside. Got very ill and somehow survived 4 months. I had no fever, I wasjust swollen and my psoriasis got very bad. nothing was not done at all at two other hospitals. Finally after begging EMS to take me to the next county they found the infection and saw that it gave me
major organ failure. Spent2 months in the hospital on palliative care with antibiotics and getting blood transfusions but made a miraculous turnaround when I was given days to live and told I would have died that very night if I had not called 911. Came home to get my life back and get this home together, not even looking for a cleaner I was on marketplace looking for cleaning supplies and found this wonderful person whom is a huge blessing named Barbie who did not charge me a dime and is working her butt off to give me my home back to pre depression era. Thank you for not judging and doing such a beautiful job on my home. She’s god sent.

CPS is not the answer all the time. This person has been asking for help, got it and I believe they will continue to get better. Don’t assume you know what is best. Thank you Barbie for your support and kindness to this family.

I agree with you completely. Once you get the government involved in your life, it turns out to be a nightmare. Those people don’t want to help those people that are mentally ill. They just want to take their kids away and think that’s the answer. What she’s doing to help them is a great start

I disagree with you. This person is still a “victim” in her own mind. And there were two glaring inaccuracies in her story. #1 You can’t catch sepsis from another person. #2 A person dying of sepsis can’t be an organ donor. You CAN develop sepsis from living in filthy conditions. This gal will get better when she is accountable to her own role in the story and stops looking at other people and situations as the source of all the bad in her life. That’s how healing happens. And the kids need CPS 100%.

@@Mrs.TJTaylorI know people who got sepsis while in the hospital. Some survive, some do not. I know someone who scraped his leg on a aluminum step ladder and got sepsis. It's life threatening and debilitating. Prayers for this family for healing and recovery in everyway. Body, mind soul, spirit.

@@johnkelly9451 Of course people develop sepsis in the hospital. But they don’t “catch” it from other people as this woman claimed she did in her story. Sepsis is a sequela of infection, bacterial, viral or fungal. Living in filth makes a person more likely to develop infection/sepsis.

Breaks my heart to see children's clothes, toys, bikes, personal belongings amongst all the trash, filth and rodents. These children didn't have a clean, safe, healthy space to thrive in. I pray that this family sees this transformation as a fresh start and has a desire, will and ability to keep it that way. No human being should have to live in these conditions, especially innocent children. God Bless them.

It must have been really hard for the parent to ask for help, open their home for people to watch on RU-vid and the faith they had in Barbie. That was a lot of stuff that had to be thrown out as they must have been destroyed by mice and whatever else. I know that its hard for someone to be very embarrassed to have people see this and ashamed to have people over. Now the kids can have friends come over and have sleepovers.

I feel so sad about their stuff but I’m super glad you didn’t have to separate out the clothing from the other trash-there was just no saving it since everything was contaminated and chewed up. I mean that must have been thousands of dollars worth of clothing, linens, shoes, bags, toys, and furniture that was ruined by leaking trash, mice, and roaches. I hope they are able to keep up with the cleaning from here on out so that they don’t have to waste so much money and resources replacing ruined items. Barbie you and your assistant did an amazing job with this cleaning! And the painting really made such an incredible difference. It changed the room completely and truly made it feel clean. I am always amazed at how much you get done at these home 🤩. Excellent job as always!

@@donnamaco1 I’ve read the description and have watched all of the previous videos about this home. The description doesn’t make me feel any less bad about them essentially loosing all of their stuff. You can’t tell me that it wasn’t terrible for them to have to throw away things they really liked or loved, including sentimental items. What really saddens me is that it sounds like the parent in this home had limited physical and emotional support from friends/family. I mean this to me is truly heartbreaking that this person went through all of this turmoil-Truly they are so lucky to have lived through all of it. I hope that with their improved physical and mental health they can keep up with things going forward. I also hope that if something happens where things start to backslide again, they contact Barbie for help before it gets to this point so that the things they’ve worked so hard for can be preserved. I can’t imagine going through all of that and then coming to the realization that your home is truly in such a bad state. What I really wish for this family is some sense of community and support because this situation must have been so isolating and depressing and I don’t ever want them to feel that way again. Really heartbreaking. I’m so happy that the parent is feeling better and getting their life back on track. It really takes a strong person to make it through all of that, and then ask and accept help for a home that was in that condition. And Barbie is such a savior for homes like these! I so admire the work she does and the support she offers these families.

When I was around 6 years old we moved and a lot of our stuff was in boxes in basement for a couple of months. Mice found their way in and chewed on and poop all over my toys, dolls, all of my paper napkins collection was destroyed (it was a thing back then), winter clothes... I was so sad, didn't understand why it had to be thrown out. Now I live in small temporary apartment and a lot of my stuff including all of the memories, photos, clothing, furniture, baby grand... everything not essential, is in my parents basement again😬. I really hope there will be no mice this time, it gives me anxiety just to think about it. Completely understand what you mean, I hope this family is not attached to their belongings as I am, and I hope they have more money than I do. I believe this is a new start for them after everything they survived ❤

Literally I grow up in this similar home, where every was everywhere and we had cockroaches everywhere. There was 8 out of kids in one room. I am to thankful my parents move to American and change the cycle and even though I have trauma and panic attacks when my Own home becomes little messy what she did here Barbie is incredible. Life changing. Now as an adult my mental health is so important to me that I really struggle i can actually work through it.

This is the worst place I've ever watched Barbie clean. Is there anyone in this world more amazing than Barbie (and her partner, "Johnny", too!) for even saying yes to this project? I don't think so. She has such strength, determination, skills and compassion and care for those living in this mess that exceeds anyone I've ever seen. I truly don't know how she does this. I don’t think I’ve ever owned that much stuff in my life, let alone having to throw it all away. I’ve been inside these apts in the Bronx with a friend to check on an older person. It was a challenge. I couldn’t imagine cleaning them. And then you go a step beyond, and paint. Bravo.

Barbie, thank you for all your hard work. I wish all the best for this lady going forward. One thing this clean up made me realise, is how we tend to spend a continuous stream of smaller amounts of money on things like clothes and cheap junk and junk food - and that all added up, it amounts to a LOT of money spent on things that just get trashed! Now that you have cleared the way and the mom is getting help for her health it will be much easier to spend far less because the fewer items they keep in future can be cleaned, cared for, and made to ‘work for their money’. ;)

I am blown away Barbie, then I see the closet and I think oh no….more! The trek to the dumpster wasn’t easy either. And all those sharp and broken things among the trash. Thank you for tackling this impossible task. And when you were finally able to clean I started clapping. Hubs asked what are you clapping for? I answered Wonderwoman. 🥰 And then to paint too! Just beautiful! I hope this womans life continues to get better and better. And you have made such a difference in her life and the life of her family. Now with the fresh start on their home I hope they can now be proud and maintain it as needed. They now have something to be proud of, a nice place to call home, thanks to you and all your hard work. Thank you for showing how you dispose of the trash. Just carrying the trash out is a huge workout and makes me appreciate the fact that I only have to walk outside my house to my trash can. I'm sorry, I'm really sorry but this is criminal neglect. I know that no-one with a healthy mind wants to live like this (or see their children live in this) - so it's a criminal failure on behalf of the authorities, AND the community, that should have recognised (before now) the support that this mother obviously needs. This is not a choice. No one wants to like like this, and no one should have to. I'm so glad you're there, Barbie. I hope the whole family gets further support. God, this makes me so angry. They must've felt so lonely, and so ashamed.

Yeah, the story in the description tells only half of it. How depressed someone is to let their house come to this? Who lived in the house while she was hospitalized, and if they were minors, who took, or didn’t, take care of them? There were tons of clothes in the room; that just doesn’t happen just from overlooking laundry. It had to be a result of systematic shopping (or dumpster diving). I see trauma-induced hoarding here, not just neglect.

So much money spent on clothes just left to rot in mouse faeces and urine but not a cent spent on fixing anything in this room. Social services definitely need to keep tabs on this. I read the woman's letter and some of it was quite confusing and didn't make sense. I hope there is help for this woman and for her kids if they are with her. It's very sad and troubling.

Barbie, I watch your videos all the time. You always amaze me. But this one really hit me. You are so strong and have so much energy! How many trash bags did you haul out of there and just how heavy were they? You just kept going! I clean homes and I have never encountered anything like that. My back was hurting for you! Oh Barbie, that was absolutely wonderful. Only you could squeeze through a 4 inch crack in the door. I laughed out loud several times, and felt sad some of the time. Tell random Johnny thank you for holding that doll up, I have never seen one of those before. He is going to give Mack a run for his money. Lol. Parents have a responsibility to teach their children how to live- it's vital. To clean up after themselves & how to maintain order & care for property. If not, other(s) concerned forced to step up. The sound of tv in the background may be a clue of first "habit" to change! The basics of doing laundry, dishes, etc. & throwing out garbage not on anyone's radar.

I grew up in Eastern Europe (Lithuania) myself and I know that people in that part of the world can be very judgemental and often do not understand how mental illness can effect person's ability to keep a house clean.
