As someone who speaks Korean we use these words on a daily almost so I’m not sure why you think you’re fluent just by blurting them out? also there is a huge difference between fetishizing Asian men and not. For example if you said “well my ideal type is someone with black hair and brown eyes” that’s fine because you normally see those features in Asian men but if you say “I want to date a Korean man because they are so much nicer and then I will be able to have a Korean child.” That’s totally different. Please understand that you can’t say these things “oh I need an Asian boyfriend”.

I’m korean, and it’s honestly kind of heartbreaking to see some of these clips. While korea is mostly known as kpop or food or similar things, i don’t think any of them actually trues to see what’s inside the shell. We have a very tragic and hardworking history, such as getting colonized by the japanese empire during ww2(trust me, many of the things they did were inhumane), or the korean war. They probably have no idea how sad it actually is to be in war 24/7 365 days(as they never officially ‘ended’ the war) or knowing that your close family relatives are somewhere up in the north, probably living a tragic life, and you can’t do anything about it. They don’t know the perseverance of our ancestors as they somehow managed to save joseon for a long time from all the constant attacks from china and japan. Not just our history, even about how so many teenagers are ruining their life studying 14 hours a day which hurts your body critically, just to get into a med school, but eventually falling apart from the depression and the unbearable pressure from its society. They don’t know ‘korea’. They think they do, it makes me laugh. This applies to the majority of people on the internet these days as well. If you really want to know about korea, you should study its history first. I’m not saying that you can’t enjoy korea’s culture without getting really deep into it, just don’t make it your whole personality or act like you’re a damn master of korean culture just because you liked kpop for a few years.
