It's also really funny to me that without Ben to give orders, they went for nachos of all things. Arguably one of the easiest things they could've opted for lol
yeah, when Jamie described his, I was thinking "oh so he's going for like, an old school classic Barry thing, ignoring the brief." then Barry started talking.
I love how Spaff somehow thought he was offending less countries than Mike, when by my counting, he got Mexico, USA, Spain, France, and all sane, rational-minded people everywhere🤣😂
I feel like we need a Reacts video from Ben for this one. Mostly, I admit, because I want to see his face when he hears just what apparent abominations are being made.
@@raideurng2508 but they literally said it wasn't nachos. Not just mike and jamie, 6/7 of the judges said it wasn't nachos, then 3 of them voted for it anyway.
This episode is like going back in time. The boys have little to no supervision and it feels like most of the time they're just winging it, in a hilarious way.
Barry winning the ‘loaded nachos’ challenge with a dessert cannoli, is like winning a 3 ingredient challenge by using 5 ingredients instead…..How did this happen?! 😂
It's even worse in Australia. I love their version of Masterchef, but *boy*, their idea of what Mexican food is makes my eyes water. (On the other hand, the Food Network on the east coast of the US doesn't understand what pita bread is and thinks its only form is a dry pita pocket.)
The moment I heard Mike describe what he was making I was like... oh no. Guys. Didn't you learn your lessons from the paella burrito? Oh, it just gets worse. And worse. And worse. This video is proof these boys can not be left unsupervised.
We as a food community need to ban Brits from ever making Mexican food. It's not even about the normals attempting to make nachos, it's the fact that the crew voted for Barry's. They're suppose to be food experts and he made an Italian dessert (tiramisu with a tortilla cannoli) for a nacho challenge.
My Mexican soul died watching this. I agree Mike is the only one who made nachos. I can’t believe someone said they were too busy. Of course it was. Those were the directions and nachos are suppose to be busy in general.
I think the flavors with the layers mixing would leave my mouth confused. Jamie's flavors actually hit as designed. Barry's looked like a nice dessert but it was so far away from being nachos that those who claimed they weren't nachos should have disqualified themselves for voting for his dish.
As a Canadian, his poutine layer offended me. It certainly didn't look like cheese curds and poutine isn't poutine without them. You can't use just any cheese and call it poutine.
A long time ago in a battle far far away Jaime once said “one day you’ll click on an ultimate battle and all three dishes will actually be within the theme” today was not that day 😂
I miss it. I miss when it was just some friends cooking together and featuring recipes and battles where you knew Mike would work trends, Jamie would be straightforward, and be forced to question if Barry is able to read.
When Jamie broke the "tortilla cannoli shell of friendship" despite Barry's begging, I had to pause the video to wipe away my tears from laughing too hard
Ebbers being gone is like watching kids making “mom” a Mother’s Day breakfast without her knowing. Complete mess, constant arguing, throwing weird items together and in the end I have no idea what any of them made. Lol 😆
Okay, but I actually love how confident they are to try new, out of the box dishes with all the skills they've gained. I love the experimentation and it's great to see the chaos back in the kitchen 😄
Agree. But I think they should still atleast try to stick with the theme or get disqualified from first place. If it’s stil tasty they can atleast make second place
One thing I am certain of after watching this is that the presence of an Ebbers is what keeps the three together. Any more of these unsupervised episodes and we'll have a food wars on our hands!
Barrys face at 10:32 trying to balance the coffee & chocolate flavours made the rest of this video blurry for me. Literal tears rolling down my face! 😂
Thanks for posting this.... I missed it (probably staring at McDreamy Mike at the time) LOLed seeing Barry's face! Love these guys so much. Always make me laugh.
Guys, you were having so much fun this could have easily been a 30-minute video, and I would still have wanted more! Great episode guys. PS: Barry, that is not Nacho's...
While I was impressed with how creative Barry and Jamie's interpretations were, Mike's was the only dish I would call nachos. Jamie's was nacho-flavored. And Barry's was so far off, I have no idea what to call it.
Damn, this made me miss Fridge Cam. This really took me back to the good old days of the kitchen battles. If only someone had actually made nachos to compete with Mikes. This is the Burgerless Burger Battle all over again!
this is the kind of episodes I want to see more of! miss how it used to always be like this but still informative! all feels a bit too formal and tv show like now days
@@wave1090 "Loaded nachos" are very much an American cuisine. The O.G. nachos were invented on a Mexican border town with Texas for American tourists. 'Loaded' nachos are purely a Tex-mex creation.
I love the videos where they are given a brief and then just decide to completely ignore it and make random food. This is giving me such "ULTIMATE BURGER BATTLE" vibes.
Thing is... all nachos is... is chips and toppings... not much variety in that XD... Jamie's dish wasnt that bad.. it tasted like it should have and had decent ingredients for nachos... and i think have it as "cupcake" style is cool.. like bite size nachos
I feel like after 10 years or however long it's been most of us are watching for the randomness, personality, bullshittery, and hilarity rather than it being a straight up cooking show. It's like when your favourite streamer stops playing just one game and moves into variety - if you've watched them for long enough you're there for the vibes and you're in no matter what. At this point I watch Sorted because I like the lads, and doing stuff like this video highlights all the best bits of them. Sure it's nice to learn some techniques and new foods every now and again, but the strength of this channel is the fun and banter between everyone while tip-toeing the line between cooking abominations and culinary genius. It's basically just a vehicle for joy - and I love it.
Wow this was amazing, felt like the battles of old where the lads would mess around with each other more, which is always H I L A R I O U S. Would love to see more of this level of ridiculousness
Mike is the only one to make nachos, loses the nacho competition to Barry anyway. Mike pulls off techniques even ebbers hasn't and was skeptical about, loses the creativity badge to Barry literally following advice Ben gave him mid battle. Mike loses a 5 ingredient battle to Barry using far more than that. Mike stays in time limit, barry goes over it and still wins. I used to wonder if Ben just reflexively shouts "Barry wins" instead of hello, but do you just have a vendetta against Mike?
More of thisssss pleeeeeeeease!!!! 3 way battles are so much fun. This was such a great one. The chaos, the sabotage, I think involving the crew in the tasting and judging (and the pasta votes) is genius! Would love to see more of this.
I am 4 minutes in and I predict Mike will be the winner purely because he's the only one ACTUALLY making loaded nachos :D Anyway, let's see where this (disaster) is heading today. EDIT: I stand corrected and I am stunned... even watching the entire thing I think I am now going through the 5 stages of grief but I am stuck at denial.
I thought there was literally no chance Mike would win when I heard his plan, until I heard the other plans. I hope the food team had no input on this episode save isolated technique questions, because wow. If you're trying to make the normals seem normal, great job, though I don't appreciate the methodology at all
Why are they always such dicks to Barry??? I know he has his moments, but I can't ever recall an episode where he was quite this dickish to the others. He practically begged them not to break his ingredients and they did it anyway. Rude.
I loved seeing the boys back up to their antics and shenanigans. And not taking them to the point they were too far but just a good old laugh. Definitely Mike made loaded nachos and something that you could likely see at some fusion restaurant. 👏🏻 The other two however even when you stretch the brief to allow for creativity they didn’t make loaded nachos. Components I would look for in any nachos are tortilla chips in some form they can be sweet or savory a sauce of some kind and accouterments that would level it up to loaded and not just nachos (chips and a sauce for dipping).
I loved this ep. Messing with each other a bit, a lot in Barry's case, reminds me of older SORTED episodes. Not that I don't love the newer, slightly more mature stuff, but more of this wouldn't be amiss? Mike being chaotic is something I'm so here for
Tbh I heavily disagree with the outcome. I have so much respect for the Sorted team but the only dish that qualified as nachos was Mike’s. It was way to busy and ambitious for my liking but it fit the bill and seemed like all the elements tasted good.
I thought Mike was doomed until the others started talking, and I realized Mike is the only one actually making nachos :) For the next contest: Cold cereal. Just to see someone use 16 steps to reinvent the corn flake :)
this was such absolute chaos😂 it really reminds me of the first few battles the guys have ever done and i feel like im back in middle school just by watching them😭
An idea for a finale to the chef badges series. The three normals have to do a “final exam” where they each have to defend three of the badges they have earned in the series to test they have actually retained the knowledge for that badge. Ebbers can choose the badges for each normal or could put it up for vote by the community. Could be a good shakeup right at the end where any of the normals could walk away as overall series winner.
So... what did Barry actually make? Premade chocolate cake, premade tortillas, premade cinnamon rolls..... hmm. Seems like a Barry moment. I think I would have gone with Jamie's version :D
Hahaha that twist ending was really a surprise! Honestly I'd have liked to try all 3. Mike's a bit too busy, but the top two layers are probably delicious.. the poutine layer, as a French Canadian, looks and sounds weird and wrong haha nachos swimming in gravy eww Jamie's sounded weird but apparently it tastes great, so sure. And Barry's.. it's basically a cake in a nacho casing.. I can see why the other two are flabbergasted that it won, especially considering how 6 out of 7 voted it wasn't a nacho dish! hahaha
Yeah I feel like Jamie's gets a pass on being nachos because it has the same flavor profile. Against premade cake dipped in Kahlua then topped with a sweet tequila custard and wrapped in a fried shell. It's probably delicious, but its not even in the same realm as savory flavor profile we all associate with nachos.
@@TheLikenessOfNormal yeah really.. I don't understand how it took Barry so much time to make this, heck I don't understand how any of them could take so long with their dishes, but Barry going "i spent 40 minutes on these" about his casing? I call bullshit
I feel like Mike really let us Canadians down. All the time and effort he put into making the other layers yet when it comes to the poutine it's instant gravy and cubed cheese.
@@karlwalton3936 Yeah honestly.. as I was telling a fellow Canadian friend, he could have started the gravy early on, with bouillon cubes or premade broth or something, and just made sure it doesn't burn/stick or that it doesn't end up too liquid at the end if he leaves the heat too low. Or heck, do it proper right from the start, then set it aside and heat it up again just before! As for the cheese, since it's nachos, he could/should have at least used grated cheese
I feel like I'm split down the middle using Jamie's and Mike's recipes (because one uses red met and the other chicken or vegetarian dishes-- all crave-worthy). But Barry's flavor combos and single use tips and tricks-- I'm using weekly and gives me permission/freedom to try flavors that I don't know how to put in a meal on my own and are so amazing when I try them! What a team! You guys are wonderful!
Straight out of the gate, 2 of 3 dishes should have been disqualified. Yet one of those two won?!?! Makes me question if their food team knows what nachos are? Grilled cheese sandwich challenge: "yeah hi, I'm cooking wagyu steak for my dish." Edit: and yes I thumbs' down this one. Not very often I do but I was expecting an actual nacho cook off and some good ideas for NACHO'S.
I'm always here for these battles, fully support the sorted team, however going from Inter-nacho-nals to nacho-nnolis quickly triggered the memory of Jamie's paella, now I'm here to see how the story unfolds. I think the conclusion will be somewhere in the vecinity of "Ben cannot leave the kitchen unsupervised" 🤣
Mike: preserves eating experience and form factor, goes wild with the flavors. Loses. Jamie: preserves flavors and goes wild with form factor. Loses. Barry: says "fuck it" to form, flavor, eating experience and everything else. Wins? LMAOOO
This feels kinda like the first burger battle again haha, although 2/3 looked really good (I don't like coffee nor alcohol sorry Baz) Maybe sometime in the future do a part 2 where you stick a bit closer to the brief 👀
As a proud Texan, I spent most of this video shaking my head in disbelief! I predicted the bottom layer of Mike's nachos would be soggy from the moment he first described his plan. But he did at least make something reasonably closely related to nachos!!! Custard and nachos SHOULD NOT go together!!!! I think I might have forgiven Jamie if not for the custard!!! But Barry's was so entirely removed from the entire genre of nachos that he should have been fundamentally disqualified and only had the voting happen between Jamie and Mike!!!
Mike should have won. He is like the forgotten middle child. He follows the rules and get pretty good results but little brother Barry always pulls out the razzle dazzle and gets people confused and surprised that he does something that ends up ok. Sometimes I wonder if he is a mastermind and has everyone convinced that he is full of cloud eggs and pretentiousness but is actually on the ball because he smiles and plays with his hair and then ends up winning... a lot.
Jaime at least had nacho flavours and ingredients in his dish. Barry's literally doesn't have a single nacho component. No, his fried tortilla shells don't count. He used flour tortillas instead of corn tortillas, entirely different ingredient and flavor.
Mike's are nachos, I think he should have won. If Barry had taken his ingredients and served them like nachos rather than massive cannoli that would have fit with the theme better and we could call them sweet nachos. Jamie.... Not sure what Jamie did... But could have done nachos with deconstructed cheeseburger and I think that could have worked maybe? Picture tortilla chips layered with cheese and mustard sauce, BBQ beef mince, crispy bacon crumbled and crispy onions with a pickle and tomato salsa.
Mike should’ve won. Barry definitely didn’t make loaded nachos and I’m still trying to figure out what Jamie made. Without Ben there, the boys revert back to old habits
I think poutine needs a redemption on here. Between Jamie not calling it a Canadian dish in the '400 Mile Cooking Challenge' video and Mike making the poutine layer in the last 15 minutes using only instant gravy and cubed cheese. Show the dish a little more love next time, please. Between that and maple syrup, it's pretty much all us Canadians are known for in terms of international cuisine.
I already know Europeans rarely get genuine Mexican food based off of my family members. Who in their right minds would pay for or even call those nachos. Ben you there might need to be a basic badge about identify what food is again.
