The bike ride to the arcade was an RPG. We started out on bikes. Hit a few side roads. A couple of corner shops. A random persons house lol. Literally. Then to the mall about 7pm. Nice n cozy. Play a few hours then ride back exhausted from yelling
@@phychmasher its okay it doesn't exist anymore. it lives with the people who care. FGC was never about any of that, its just about finding a group of people creating a community in a lonely world. ive made my best friends through fighting games.
This is what happens when you post a game like marvel on the IGN channel. You get random people who don't even understand the game commenting about "Morrigan spam" and how this game requires "no skill".
Tanner FixIt Are you just being a douche or do you not understand that ShadowCoH is not saying blocking ALL projectiles is the way to go, but if you can't block then the "chip damage" ends up being your whole health bar in 5 seconds. Crying about spam on a game that lets you do it is on par with boxing against an opponent just as strong as you but punches faster, excuses.
Not sure who you're referring to but if you were in anyway talking to me then you're wrong, #1 I am not defending spam, I simply think people who cry and COMPLAIN about an as you said, illegitimate strategy are bad at the game. If they were any decent they wouldn't just sit and complain about it, they'd do something about it like Justin Wong did. If Chris's bullshit or whatever people of the majority call it is bullshit then let the players that dominate his spam show him that. Honestly all I have is #1 though, anyone who complains about it AND loses to it should be learning to get better, not find excuses to why they lose.
Just to give everyone background since everyone is screaming and whining "Spammer" and "Lame." Justin Wong, for over 5+ years, was absolutely hated in MVC2 for what Chris did in MVC3: Dominating the field. Not only that, Justin had the lamest runaway MVC2 Storm, constantly jumping straight up into the air offscreen while gaining meter on whiffed normals. It is almost ironic that Justin Wong, a man who was hated for being completely =undefeated= (100% Win Rate in Tournament Play) for 2+ years in MVC2, is being cheered like a hero so many years later. That is why IFC Yipes said "I'd never thought I'd see the day." Because he knew, like other Old School players, that Justin was never painted as the good guy for a large portion of his playing career. Hopefully, people will realize in the next coming years that Chris G, the man who dominated MVC3 for years, will get the same treatment in the next iteration for Marvel, if it's possible to have it. But one thing to note is that Chris somewhat follows the footsteps of all the great players before him, with impeccable defense, evasion and movement. It just so happened that this time, Justin finally got him at the grandest stage of FGs.
So for the first, maybe minute-and-a-half, I see Morrigan shooting all over the place. I know it's an effective tactic to use Morrigan and Doom's missiles, but man, was that annoying to watch. Once she was gone though, it looked like it was over.
Wong is pretty much the most well known USA fighting game competitor, having won many tournaments over the past decade with awesome matches. The reason people are rooting for him is because he was playing Chris G, who currently uses a dominant team many people don't like.
man Chris G's team would be really tough to deal with, holy crap. It felt like a true underdog story to me, cause it seemed like Justin's team was grossly disadvantaged but he fought through adversity and won, that was amazing ^_^
I love it how people still think Chris G is spamming. He's the only pro Morrigan that doesn't spam. If you were any good at this game you would notice his defense and movement is only matched by veterans like JWong.
Really now? I bet if someone were to count how many times Soul fist was used, it would be more than or close to a hundred. The main reason Chris was able to keep Justin at bay was due to his endless wave of Soul fist. That alone is proof of spamming and it doesn't help that he spammed with Doctor Doom for a bit. Problem?
***** Please keep in mind that this definition could vary for some people but here is my take on it. Spamming is generally the repeated use of a projectile or a cheap combo in a fighting game. For example, say we were fighting against each other in say Marvel vs Capcom 3 and I was using Zero but I kept using his projectile move over and over. That would be considered spamming. Not only would it be unfair to you but it would noobish is the term I believe, for me There are other characters that could spam as well, not just Zero or Morrigan.. If you wish to further research this matter, try looking up videos of Saki from Tatsunoko vs Capcom.
Shining Trapezohedron Typically "zoning" consists of a set of moves and tactics geared for that purpose, rather than the repeated use of one move ad nauseam.
I think it's sad how Chris G gets accused of "spamming" because he plays a defensive setup in a generally rush-down obsessed game. He's a pioneer, why the hate?
technically is not really a problem if he plays that way, but the real problem is that Morrigan should not gain meter while in astral vision. That brokes the game in my opinion and if i remember right, i don't play this game since ages, she is the only character gaining meter while using a power up skill.
i suggest people who call morrigan soul fist spam cheap pick her up. Please play her against a team like wolverine doom vergil with a top level player. Then you might have some respect for the godlike defense chris g has
rioshu agreed. That team combo is insane and is basically the Top Tier in UMVC 3 at this point. But Justin's Team paired with that skill is ungodly. And he proved it the following year in one of the most dominating Grand Finals in evo history. Chris had no chance at all.
say what you will about Chris G's Morrigan... but MAN does he have the best hit confirms with her in the world! From superjump level he can still pull off massive combos from loose hits... damn
Lmao that Chris G was on that easy mode with those endless fireballs. there was never a second when there wasnt at least 5 on the screen. but according to some of these comments..."thats not cheesing, its skill". i will, however, give him the props for being the best cheeser ive ever seen...
So beautiful and ironic how it just came down to the classic street fighter keepaway strat at the end, Justin was like ight now im the one playing lame bro
You have to respect ChrisG for finding and mastering a team with amazing synergy, but I personally can't stand Anti-Hype teams in Marvel. I'd much rather watch Swagneto and Doom stylin' on bitches or Spencer punching those women than ChrisG zoning and controlling matches. That being said, I still enjoy watching ChrisG's mechanics.
Chris G spam so what. He found a character he like and he able to use her effectively. He constantly top 3. If is so easy why don't other people do it? Right, because it takes skill and understand of the game then spamming. For you trolls out there, he making money while you at home watching and hating on his game. The question is if the spam is so easy why you are not there facing J.wong instead of Chris G?
It's not spam. Spamming is just using the same move over and over again brainlessly. Chris G has mastered a strategy that he forged himself. You try and play Morrigan and tell me where it gets you.
Everyone complaining about morrigans "spam" they don't seem to understand what they're doing. It's not morrigan that's the problem is it's morrigan/missles. ChrisG knows it and Justin knows it. At 8:30 ChrisG didn't protect doom correctly and lost doom because of it. During the storm comeback only a total of 4 soulfists touched storm due to the lack of missles. Justin is constantly playing around the missles, throwing, stopping combos and optimising combos to avoid them. Look at 14:50 ChrisG rushed down when missles DIDN'T lock down storm and ended up getting thrown
Dr. Fun UMvC3 is more lively than USF4. Its alot more fast paced and combo based while having a very advanced system which difficult to master. USF4 is significantly slower and less combo and execution based but has a bigger focus on the fundamentals.
When I look at the matches from Chris G's point of view, he was really working hard to make sure that he would build enough bars to get Morrigan's Astral. Good games, Chris G.
lol, people don't stop bitching about ChrisG's strategy. You know there isn't a patent right? play mor/doom as well if you feel like its such a cheap combo.
Ive always enjoyed coming up with ways to beat people with play styles like Chris G. If thats the way you like to play the game thats fine, but I dont play that way and it is VERY satisfying when you beat someone whos ugly strategies are formulated in their basement
love this game but zoning is knowing how to keep an opponent back with a set of skills and combos or anti airs not repeated use of a sigle move mixed with and assist and super. if I sit in any fighting game lets say ss4 as akuma i just forward fireball,l air fire ball and that's all I do your gonna try and tell me that's zoning not spamming . grow up Ive played fighting games sense the arcade before nes its spamming stop trying to make up new terms to defend your spamming ass ways. some games have mechanics to diminish repeated attks damage that soul fist would have stop doing damage half way in
mr bluray no one cares what any one player saying about a character its still spamming get a dictionary if your that ignorant doesn't matter what any 1 player says a character is built to play there are more moves on her than soulfist.
lol try because your lame ass excuse was just using the same move over and over isn't spamming because a tournament player said it isn't well guess what its still the definition of spamming you made yourself look like a dumb ass lol
oh and I didn't delete you it say your comment was reported for foul language you don't want people flagging you don't type like your an angry 5 year old man
Zoning is keeping the opponent at the optimal distance. It requires spacing and in some cases meter management. Also if it is spamming,it is easy just to go around it since they are doing the same thing over and over again.
Chris g isn't spamming he's turtling to the extreme, there's a subtle difference he's throwing those soul fists out with the objective of creating a huge defensive wall. but kudos to Justin, great comeback
I wouldn't just say just casual competition theres much more to it then that like the less random things happen in a game I would think the more of a chance they have at being competitive and being in MLG naruto storm 3 so random with the amount of crap that happens in that game, will never be mlg lol
PreeminentBeast They promote the biggest game. Halo-Sc2-LoL-CoD(insert newest title). If they wanted the most skillful competition they wouldve played CoD4 on pc but they want money and viewers so they pick newest public cod on xbox. They picked LoL over DoTa2 for the same reasons.
Seems that way, but it's not really. It just does really well against most top-tier teams since most of them are rush-down heavy in Marvel. Chris G is super efficient with keep away, so most characters are half-dead by the time he gets hit and Vergil cleans up what's left. Justin won in large part due to Storm's hail super that lets him do full screen shave damage right back, clear the soul fists, clear doom missiles, and punish doom assist calls. Storm, who is a lower mid-tier character, wouldn't usually be used enough to beat this team, but that is how Morrigan was treated 2 years ago. When people start exploring the current mid-tier characters more, Morrigan will probably become less of a threat.
Thats correct, just an opinion. I mean without Doom he was doing pretty good, but when Morrigan was eliminated first, it was total destruction. But it was a really great fight.
Dmanbradley I agree that the strategy isn't cheap since it does require high level inputs but you can really do it with almost any good ranged character and Doom. The opposing player has to sneak in the tiny openings and go all out or be forced to slowly move forward while taking massive chip damage. Morrigan has the best screen coverage overall though. But I will say Morrigans power up state in general is incredibly cheap. The damage output and zoning she can achieve while it's going on paired with the fact that she gains meter is kind of dumb. Most characters either don't gain any meter or don't gain enough to keep their power up state going repeatedly. To top it all off Chris G. is usually smug when he wins but always has some excuse when he loses.
Kadorja It's true, but then if Morrigan could not gain meter in Astral Vision she would not be nearly as good. Chris G spends nearly every bar he builds to stay in AV for almost the entire match. I think the way to "fix" it would be to nerf the chip damage, but only slightly. And even still...only Chris G is really winning with the character. This will probably change over the years because the execution barrier will be overcome by more players, but for now, she is only top tier because of Chris G's efforts. Hidden Missiles, now that shit is cheap yo.
+An Solo I don't think it's boring at high level play. I'm always anxiously anticipating the other guy breaking through it, just as JWong did. People who win it all by spamming alone would be news to me.
"Now you have witnessed what a true demon can do." I know Akuma is probably saying that to Vergil, as MVC3 had unique quotes depending on the losing character. But I always picture that Akuma is saying that to ChrisG.
