Wow, thanks for this video. I now realize that I have probably missed many great targets. I have ignored these target IDs because they are typical bottle tops. But it just goes to show that you have to dig everything in order to get that lucky strike.
Really enjoyed your video of rings, I enjoyed it so much I went and found it with my phone and shared it with a friend who thinks the Equinox numbers always jump around. Maybe now he can see the difference . On my second day out with the Equinox 800 I had a nice sounding 11 or 12, stopped to dig it and it was 3.3 gram Gold pendant. So I have been watching all the videos that explain about gold on the Equinox. Thanks for the Great video :) yeah
Excellent Job! The E-Nox is easy to learn and once you know the signal it is spot on. Dig all Folks! After you get used to the Factory settings, you can go into advanced and kick some Axx
I've been using the Excalibur 2 for the last 12 years So the lesson of the day with the Equinox is Dig everything ! I was going crazy with my new Equinox thanks for this video you made my life a lot easier. Subscribed to see more tips from you. Good Luck & Happy hunting.
If it bings dig it. Dig repeatable signals. What helps me is to go detect around dark or just dont look at my screen and just dig with my ears. Use all 50 tones
I found it helpful, I'm new with my Nox 800 , unfortunately I haven't found gold with it yet in the 4 months I've ownedit . I dig all the low numbers from 10 to 1 and 99 percent of the time I pull out foil . I need to run a similar test . Good luck and thank you for sharing. Big Mex Detects from central California
That's for all this important information dude! That's great! I wish there was a video like this for the detector I use! You should continue making incredible information videos like this!
I've been using the equinox 600 a lot. The 16 signal was a little sad, because all bottle caps are on this range. However, one thing u learned about the equinox is to hear the signal. These signals are absolutely solid and I would dig thembout. If the detector sounds high pitch then low pitch instead of a monotone signal, then you have jubk
Cabeca Absolutely, unless you don't mind possibly missing smaller gold targets. On homesites I will still pass the lower numbers, now at the beach and in the water I will be digging everything. Guess I will be really cleaning up the foil issue on my beaches LOL. Thanks for viewing. GL & HH
MiTreasureHunter serious question. Since I don’t really hunt land other than the beach I may be missing something, but wouldn’t you normally dig everything but iron any way? I will say you can normally tell what is foil even with a cheap detector but I’m scared to not dig it.
Jboat571 X I hunt freshwater beach and water almost exclusively. I do not dig everything. To many bottlecaps and foil. On my other machines the VDI are accurate and dependable so I don't fear missing anything if my coil goes over it. On the NOX series it is not the same. I am extremely disappointed with the machine. I returned my 800, still have the 600.
Actually for me, it depends what detector i am using. I have the ML EQ800, which I bought because of it being waterproof. Its a great machine and I found my 1 and only gold ring with it at a lake/pool but not crazy about its limited vdi numbers or its bad "depth perception. Though, I still have my Whites V3i and with this machine, i don't dig everything, due to its sizing feature and with the spectrograph, you can pretty much tell if the target is round or not.
Cabeca Thrue .. With a 250 dollar tesoro compadre you dig less trash and hou know what you dig more often .. I wanted to like this sleek machine but it turned out to be just a waterproof machine instead of a efficient metal detector .. Lots of issues .. Every detector has his flaws , tbe perdecf ones will never come ... The perfect ones are allready gone and out of stock.. Buy it , and go outside .. and turn it on ... What the hell where they thinking to want the on and off knob there . Bought this to give my arm more rest ( explorer user ) And with the option to get wet with it ... Anything else turned out to be a dissapointment for me ..
Nicely done, it was very helpful, I have a tungsten wedding ring I need to find for a friend and this will help. I have add blocker so I did not see any commercials, people need to get smarter and nor complain so much. I have an Nox 800 coming soon....thanks. HH
It's too bad people have had bad experience with the Equinox 800. I would suggest the update if you haven't already. I killed it in 2018 lots of colonial coins, large cents, silver dollar and silver coins, 4 silver and 2 gold rings and I only do farm fields and out in the woods. I found tons of stuff with my AT PRO. But our first day out with the Equinox's in the field next to my house we have done for 20 years we pulled out 5 large cents, a half cent and a deep mercury . I don't know what to say, every year I find more stuff. Good luck
Ya pretty much 13ish covers a wide range on my 800 40% of my targets are in the 11-15 range out of those 80% are pull tabs and aluminium caps ..I'm not happy with the equinox as far as discrimination, But for determining metal from non its dam good and it finds the smallest of targets but i have to say that detecting with the Equinox is like a box of chocolates LOL
After 15-20 hrs of purposeful hunting...i agree 100%. Just when i think i couldn't hate it any more, I find something good. I will keep it for water(reason for purchase) but land hunting I will use my other machine.
Ya this machine is way over rated..But for the money it makes a good "Dig Every Thing that's not metal " machine ..so the money i'll save from not needing a gym membership along with the all nickles It's finding will pay for this in a few years
Wouldn't need a fancy detector if wanted to dig everything. Personally I just use my XP Deus the most. I find it undeniably more accurate. The NOX is a beep and dig, it don't get used much.
I am beginning to wonder if I have made a mistake ordering a Nox 600. I haven't even gotten it yet but the more I read about it the more people seem to be disappointed that all the targets read the same and they have to dig everything. Before I ordered it, I heard lots of good things about it. I bought it specifically for beach and lakeside hunting...
That’s every metal detector . Pop tabs will show up same as rings . The numbers just kinda help is all determine size and metal . In my opinion. You are going to love the nox 600 that’s what I have and also have the Nokta legend and vanquish 440 . All 3 are amazing
Well...my experience with that detector, yes anything not iron. I mean the 600 for the price on a sale or discount its worthy of adding to a collection. If could only afford one machine I would never chose one of these.
Really appreciate the video but I’m not finding jewelry on top of the ground very often. LOL Different types of soil are going to skew those TID numbers. Not a big fan of air tests. I really like my EQ600 but in the end we still have to dig trash no matter what detector we swing. Happy Hunting 😀
That was stated that its an air test and numbers could be different in ground. An air test though is more conceivable then burying the targets since there are so many soil conditions that it eould be different for everyone.
Can't wait. It's almost metal detecting season here in Michigan for us water hunters. Actually I would already be in the lakes with waders but broken foot is still healing😕
Even though both the aluminum pull tab and rings came in from 13 too 17 the tones are not the same .. as you would find gold with vdi 16 for example.. the machine is unique and smart as hell.. cant wait too get one
Yes and No. It's a machine to have in your line-up if your can afford several. If I could only have 1 machine though, it would absolutely not be a 600/800.
@@MiTreasureHunter for me as an all rounder it suits me just fine and if i could have several then no it would not be my first choose i would go gpz for gold hunting and whites tdi for beach and maybe deus for relic and anfibio for coin hunting but as i can not by everything and only pick one machine the nox has a little of everything i need because i am in australia and i need it for small gold i need for the beach and there is a tone of parks and i dont think there is a single machine better then it and all those departments .. if you think there is let me know so i can check out which machine it is ...and around that price range yeah ? lol hh
Just goes to show you, dig it all, find jewelry. It's just that simple. Type of jewelry , composition, condition it will cover 99% of the vdi spectrum. Simple #'s game. With the basic jewelry vdi guide here now throw in moisture, partial masking by other targets (junk of not). When the ML 800 came out I got one and tested it thoroughly at the local city park that was "hunted out:" by at least and I do mean at least 20 different MD's and 40-50 people and the usual noobs learning (the smart one dig it all). I'd take the most trash laden parts of the park and grid searched them; north-south, east-west, the usual 10'x10' plots yielded 50-200+ junk pcs a handful of coins and .5-1.5 pcs of jewelry (mostly gold). One plot which encompassed a wino bench yielded 2 gold graduation rings with stones, 1 silver mens ring (lawn mower strike, twisted) and tiny childs 10k ring along with nearly a plastic grocery bag full of bottle caps, can slaw & junk jewelry.
Personally I just use a different detector that ID's more accurately if I'm concerned about a visual ID. I don't have time or patience to dig every target but I water hunt so its much more physical. Serious detectorist know there is no such thing as hunted out👍😁. My XP Deus out performs these ML's in my experience. Hunt by sound not by numbers..thats the secret (which you have to do in the water anyways). I got rid of the 800 and would have the 600 but I'd lose to much money. GL & HH
@@MiTreasureHunter Started out with a White's Classic III - Only sound + four knobs. Then and old XLT (until the screen decayed) and NiCad died. VDIs only for reference - sound is king.
This is fine and all, but we need someone to do a video with buried targets to compare the pull tabs to the rings. We probably aren't going to find gold rings on the surface. We need to see at what depths they start losing the solid VDI number, and how the different sizes react when buried at different depths in the dirt. Not at the beach. We all know we should probably dig everything in the beach sand.
The silver dolphin ring is connected all the way throw and theres no breakage in the frequency because there is no breakage in the ring were as the previous silver ring is not a full circle and the frequency cuts throw the ring were it is not soldered at the top and that is why it breaks off its reading and re attaches its connection itself back and forth causing it too wobble its tone as you swing back n forth just as you yourself mentioned further in the video about the split ring ..
Minelab excalibur ll, Minelab Sovereign GT, Makro multi kruzer, Garrett sea hunter mark 2 and my next is White's TDI Beach Hunter. Good luck to you :) 😁
I've owned about every model out there, condensed down to only 3. Found any more to just be a waste of space and money. I have other expensive hobbies to fund.
Not sure why the silver vdi numbers were everywhere on the scale. I understand the size difference but I would think @minelab would have more consistency in vdi numbers with material type. 1st minelab for me...800
The VDI is the worse! Absolutely horrible, these might as well be a beep and dig everything machine. Not impressed at all, all hype, it was/is a great sales technique to promise revolutionary and then fail so bad to even somewhat accurately identify targets in ground.
I purchased one so I will see what’s going on with this. Only heard good things, but will watch other vids to tweak as I’ve seen some to avoid digging a lot of trash.
An air test is really not reliable everything depends on mineralisation, depth condition of the object. Also, different modes and settings will give different readings. So dig everything that sounds good
This a "Test", not a science experiment trying to prove some theory. People say they are not accurate and I say bull💩 to a certain point. This video gives people an "idea" of where targets can come it at sound and numbers wise. It's a learning tool for those who never picked up this model. If you care to travel around the world and reproduce every single "in ground" senario possible and make a 20 hour documentary then knock yourself out😅. For common Joe starting out and wondering what sounds and numbers the machine makes for targets, I think an "air" test will suffice. Personally I don't like the ML 600/800 after using it a Summer, my XP Deus is a much accurate detector.
Hi, very interesting video. I have a question for you. Minelab says the multi iq operates at the exact same frequencies for both the 600 & 800 yet the graphic for the 600 shows a multi iq frequency of 5, 10, 15 while the 800 shows a frequency range of 5,10,15,20,40. I will almost certainly never be prospecting for gold nuggets, however I would like to know that I am not going to be missing tiny gold jewelry such as a tiny gold stud earring if I purchase the 600 instead of the 800. Everything I read says I don’t need an 800 unless I’m going to be prospecting for small nuggets. I had an excal that I sold because I was going to quit detecting but now I’m thinking of getting an equinox. I still have an ace 350 and it will find the tiniest silver and bling studs but will not detect a tiny gold stud held directly under the coil. What are your thoughts, experience, suggestions? Thanks!
They both run the same 5 frequencies, the only difference is the 800 you can select 40 as an individual operating frequency for prospecting. The 600 you can not, but can the other 4 frequencies. Other then that the 800 has a more advanced *tweaks menu. Neither for me were worth the extra money. Now if you can get the Military discount and pick up an 800 for around $750 shipped then I would say get the 800. I paid $952 for mine thru Cabela's and returned it after comparing it for a little over a month against the 600 I bought first. The wireless headphones of the 800 are sub standard. They sound like garbage and fit very tight so they are hot and uncomfortable. I'm going to buy aftermarket ones for my 600 from Amazon. I'm spoiled with my XP Deus, being wire free is very convenient.
Hello, the manual tell the 600 will run in multi 3 frequency just like the 800. The 800 can run separately 20 hz and 40 hz so the equinox 600 dont have 20 and 40 frequency in multi too.
I was about to purchase an equinox 800. But after watching this video I’m having second thoughts. I thought this was the best machine out there and would discriminate tatgets very well.I plan on hunting salt water, fresh water and dry-land What metal detector would you suggest?
So seems crazy to notch out any of the any of the numbers when searching. In that case why on earth would Minelab add this option? How do these numbers actually assist? Do people actually want to search for coins and nothing else?
If I missed it I'm sorry, but what where the settings that you used when testing. Bye the way I just my 800 and haven't even been out yet because of the weather. But I really appreciate the videos, very helpful to a newbie. Subscribed!
Thanks for subscribing. I had to go back and watch the beginning myself as I could not recall the settings. I say them in the first 50 seconds of the video.
After putting more hours on the machine I am not ecstatic about the erratic VDI display if targets in the ground. It's a dig pretty much everything machine.
Thats a tough question. For me personally no, but that could be because I have years of experience with the AT-PRO's and only 1 season with a 600. The 600's tones and numbers are all over the place, its hard to tell what a target is in the ground. People say its because its so sensitive, which I call 🐂💩 on that statement. I think it really depends on the type of hunting you do. On freshwater beaches where I hunt alot I find myself using the ATP because it ID's more accurately. If I had to chose only one at this point it would be the ATP, but remember I do not ever to any saltwater hunting.
Because no matter what detector you are using if it has a VDI there are targets that consistently show the same numbers. I beach and water hunt and can call out what I have under my coil 90% of the time. I don't dig much trash because between the sound quality and numbers the machine dont lie.
@@MiTreasureHunter maybe you don’t have a Nox. I have one and can tell you that with the exception of the ferrous ID’s, there is no way you can call out targets accurately. For instance, the most common object you will find on beach that makes you waist lots of time are pull tabs. They are always 13-14. Would you totally disregard them? There are lots of rings that would hit those numbers. The same happens to bottle caps and aluminum in general. So, your 90% accurate call is not for the machine, it’s based on the number of objects in the beach.
@@marlonwallace9087 I absolutely have a NOX and a half dozen other detectors. The NOX is the least accurate with VDI's. With my XP Deus and even old AT-Pro I can tell you the target. That comes from over 7 years of heavy experience and knowing my machine as if it was an extention of my own body.
@@MiTreasureHunter wow. I can see you really know your machine. It will take me a while for me to know mine as an extension of my body. 😃 My experience is just with the Equinox and with that one I can tell you. There is no way we can predict for sure what is under the coil.
@@MiTreasureHunter Yes it looks like the US is the only country that sells 10 k as gold. In the rest of the world 10k is not sold as gold. Gold starts at 14 k.
So what you have demonstrated is all signals should be dug as long as they a solid steady signals and not fluctuating numbers, which means your going to be digging a lot of trash! Some of your demo targets I would have never dug.
What this video tells me is that the tone and numbers mean nothing. Gold, Silver, anything - trash, they all come up with a random number and tone to match. I get bottle caps that ring at 3 and other bottle caps that ring at 28 and others at everything in between. I get the feeling that discrimination is a fallacy.
I don't like the discrimination on the Nox machines at all. I use mine only in the water when I can't see the screen. Take the vdi out of the equation and the tones because more helpful. The way we should hunt anyways, by sound, not numbers.
@@MiTreasureHunter When I said discrimination I was (probably incorrectly) referring to both the tone and the VDI. I can't hear or see anything that would tell me this is gold or silver and not a bottle cap. They both appear identical in tone and numbers. "beep beep, 28" - bottle cap "lower beep beep, 22" - bottle cap "higher beep beep, 35" - bottle cap "really low beep beep, 14" - bottle cap The one time I got something different was a small 1.4g Stirling silver earring and it went "beep pong, beep pong" but all the other silver I found was "Beep Beep" with a tone that matches the random number, no way to tell that it's not a bottle cap that I can figure out. The fact that silver and gold in your tests come up at anything from 9 to 35, and bottle caps come up anywhere from 5 to 35 in my tests, and they all sound the same, how is one able to discriminate? Could you do an example comparing the gold and silver to some bottle caps and point out for us dummies what the difference is. Because I don't see or hear one.
fries of wisdom Mine idea too.. This machine is a waterproof beep And digg it all stick . Nothing more nothing less.. Point of the matter is that this is in no way comparable with the minelabs they where producing before even when at least a 15 years old.. I very much regret buying this machine 😞 My expectations where way to high thanks to all the hype .. A valueable lesson for me.
lewis1141951 Exactly .. Its a expensive beep and digger ... But its waterproof and it is very stable on the wet salt sand .. But i dont get all the hype of it ..
lol, my bad of course you're "entitled" to squeeze 6 adverismements in one video, as shameful as it is. its an "attitude" like that, that will keep your subs low.....but seeing as you hit them with 6 advertisements its kinda like you have 6 times the subscriber base, nice job, well done, congrats
Subs don't really mean anything anymore, its about views. Thankfully I have a real job and don't have an unrealistic dream of making a living off a platform that will likely be dead sooner rather then later with all the draconian censorship.
