Thanks bud ,😊I got the nox 800 and now I’m at peace knowing what the vdi numbers are.since I’ve used an AT Garrett Gold and Simplex plus which vdi numbers are different and higher, so now I got to get familiar with the to the Nox vdi numbers.
Thanks so much for this video. I recently purchased the 600 and took it out for the first time this morning. I've been a Whites user for many years and the Equinox is a different animal. It became very clear that I needed to figure out what the VDI numbers represent in order to use the detector properly. This has been a great help along with my own testing I'm starting to understand what I'm seeing on the screen. Keep up the good work. Thanks, Jim
I’d love to see one about basic trash - pull tabs, cans, some caps, foil etc. That would help to see if many of these basic items fall in and around the other target id’s. Just a thought…. Cheers.
I've had the nox 600 for about a month now and have pulled 5 silvers out of some of my old spots. I havent done any air testing on any coins, buy I did notice that the signals I got for those silvers were pretty unmistakable. The vdi numbers were within range and sometimes a little jumpy, but the sound was different. I got the sweet silver sound like other minelab machines. I'm not sure if it was due to them being in the ground but I run on 5 tones and really noticed a difference in tones on the dimes. Thanks for the video. I needed a ballpark vdi for indian head pennies.
This video helped me out tremendously thank you so much for your time in all the prep and awesome videos I have the Equinox 800 and my dad and his friend are getting an equinox 800 also and I shared this with them lot different numbers than the Garrett atpro it was a real learning curve this help me out
Hey man I truly appreciate your videos 👍👍👌👌☺️☺️ I am sort of a beginner. I know a whole lot because I watch lots of videos and stuff... I used to have a cheaper Detector. Nice but just old the bounty Hunter tracker... It was a coin finding machine.. but I got the Equinox 600 from my good friend Ed Huffman. From treasure mountain metal detectors .. he hooked it up big-time . But I truly appreciate your time and information on the vdis
Frenki Hunter The reality is that soil conditions and depth combinations are infinite throughout the world. As stated these tests were only a baseline and it does indeed get you in the ballpark. I hunt by Tone personally, because most of my warm weather hunting is in the water and can't seen the control box anyways.
Just putting this it there that all test should be done in actual conditions because the majority’s for targets are found underground. Above ground with nothing including the dirt to effect the target ID to me might be the difference.
The detector is reacting to the surface area, rather than the metal content. Another thing ,most detectors will read a large thick 925 silver Ring the same as a U.S. quarter.
Same here.... I came to this thread to see if anybody else questioned this. I'm glad I found your reply right away. Seriously there is something wrong with that dime and the reading. I have found many mercury dimes and they always ring 27 to 28
Really superb video, excellent presentation. Do you have the ability to do a similar video on any gold coins? I'm told the magic # for a $5 gold piece is "18" and I've dug a lot of them so far. 18's that is. They have all been various crushed tabs. Bill
I am trying to gather more targets to test, but living in SW Michigan there are not a lot of gold coins found LOL. I honestly don't know if I'll be able to track down a local that owns some and is willing to get them out to run a test. I am looking though...
What I really liked about your test is that you show how many targets share similar ID's. While I love the Equinox and think that it is the next wave so to speak, Minelab's dual number discrimination on the Explorers (forget the Etrac and the 12 line, even though it is a great machine) gave the hunter a little more info before digging. Having silver dimes and clad dimes all hit "25" is a pain. Which they had found a way to separate out silver better.
50 Tone. I thought I mentioned that but the video was originally filmed both rings and coins together. Sorry, I put enough effort into the video, someone else can take the info and make a cheat sheet.
MMD is the Michigan Metal Detecting on Facebook. Its a closed group based out of Livonia but most member are all over the state, all you need to do is search for MMD or Michigan Metal Detecting. they have 2 seeded and picnics a year and I have found some local new detecting friends on it too
I noticed that the numbers did not fluctuate between Silver and Clad as well as my old White's DFX...I could tell if a coin was Clad or Silver very easily by the number with the DFX. 82 Clad dime 83 silver dime...and so on. With the added ground around a coin instead of the air test wonder what would happen to the numbers...? Maybe you could show the other settings and modes in other vids as I believe the machine has four main types of each areas and separate modes in each search area type...not sure I am sold on this machine as being the best available...not running out yet to buy it...just IMO...
Asset Marketing I found it interesting also that the half dollars and dimes, Silver and clad were nearly identical. My XP Deus does not see them this way either, its more like your Whites. I did test all 4 modes (600 does not have the 5th mode) and and the numbers were consistent across all the modes, so I just chose to film in Park 2 mode. In the ground obviously the numbers could change and maybe the machine will see them a number or 2 apart depending on if silver or clad. So many different soil/depth variables that it is impossible to test with an absolute certainty. When it comes to numbers and more importanly Tones that high I would be digging the target anyways. So far I am impressed with the machine and most certainly will be taking possession of an 800 when my name on the list comes up. I hunt beach and freshwater a lot so this will be replacing my AT-PRO'S. The XP Deus is not going anywhere. For the price range the Equinox series fall into AND being a submersible machine I feel they are the best machine(s) available within that criteria for sure. GL & HH
I had the dfx and loved it. It would tell clad from silver. But it would not go through the iron or go as deep. I'll live with the jumpy vdi. It would be nice if they would fix this problem though
I bought the equinox 600. This machine is a joke. Doesnt do amything better than any existing detectors. Can go deep, but the ID sucks. Im pissed that i bought into the hype...
