Yes, NYC is crowded with people but just 30/45 minutes outside the city (in any direction) brings you peace and tranquility (from beaches to mountains)
George Frole I’d recommend going a little further. Another 45 minutes from NYC will take you from the suburbs to true tranquility. Sincerely, someone who grew up 30 minutes from NYC.
Cold Spring is beautiful. I grew up not far from there. Cool little town. I moved to Florida and really miss the woods and the mountains. I spent so much time in the woods with my friends growing up. When I visited NY a couple years ago my sister asked me what I wanted to do most. I told her I want to go for a walk in the woods so we did. It was great.
I used to run up those mountains behind Haldane as kid with my friends back in the 70s. The town I was born and grew up in will remain in my memories forever. I'm sorry to say it's not the town I grew up in now. I do appreciate looking at the video.
Grew up and lived in Cold Spring on Fair St. Hiked that trail with my brownie troop in he early '60's. It's very different there now, but still beautiful.
I grew up in Cold Spring 40yrs ago retired to FL but how lucky we all were being raised in such a beautiful place. I hear it’s not the same anymore but I still miss it .
I recently moved from the Hudson Valley to Texas and was missing home a bit. I heard of a fire on the mountain at breakneck ridge and was, disappointed. It get me reminiscing of the time I hiked breakneck with some friends, and the time I went and took my SATs at Cold Spring high school. I RU-vidd Cold Spring and your video popped up. It did not disappoint man. Nice choice of music, and it’s nice seeing the perspective of some from NYC/out of town. Glad you enjoyed. You chose a nice day.
I've been following all your NYC clips but this might be my favorite. Maybe because I'm from a small town in Europe, maybe it's the music or the shorts of the hike, but I now know what I'm doing for my next trip to New York. Shout out from Croatia.
HI! I live in the area and it makes me so happy that people come up from the city for a quick gat-away! That being said, its important for hikers to know their experience level. Many people try to hike breakneck ridge because it's one of the more famous hikes in the area, but it is pretty difficult and for an unprepared hiker it can be dangerous. My word of advice is to research the hike before hand or go with someone experienced so you stay safe. Regardless of what hike you choose, you will have amazing views. Thanks so much for sharing this video!
It must be wonderful to go from a chaotic, crowded, noisy city to Cold Spring, immersed in the enchanting nature. Beautiful this video! Even here in Bassano del Grappa we have several paths with wonderful nature !!!
One of the highlights in the Village of Cold Spring is the Magazzino Art Museum which is free and accessible by the museum shuttle that goes to the train station and picks up visitors. It isn't in the heart of the village but near a highway area.
$30 round trip! Metro North cost a lot less years ago. We used to walk on the tracks by the Hudson River to the trail and gate for Taconic State Park. There was a stream, waterfall, and a pond. We swam in the pond. Short hike but really nice. Had pizza in Cold Spring afterwards. But train being $30 would be beyond me.
What!? When did you guys hike through? I hike Washburn everyday, as I have been working on the trail crew since May. I worked on building the new trail you guys walked to that Cold Spring overlook. We also helped clear some of the path just past the quarry (after the area that gets flat). :) Anyway, Cold Spring is a very cute town. So beautiful!
I'll bet if you stayed the night, you'd see a gazillion stars & the Milky Way. That is the one thing I miss about city life - I can count the stars I see on one hand. Good video!
After my most recent visit to NYC, I can understand being tapped out on the concrete jungle. Meanwhile, I have yet to visit the Hudson Valley. You have convinced me to prioritize it. In my opinion, this is one of your best videos.
That shot of the Hudson with the train in the background is gorgeous. It’s such a different world. I would like to be on that train for the view alone.
Cool video! It would also be neat to see a visit to Saratoga Springs. I almost took a job with a company I was working for at the time a few years ago. Looks like a great place to visit.
Hello. I will be in nyc in the week of 20th Oct. Can you please suggest couple of places to visit to see the fall foliage. Ok with a day trip or a 2 days trip from nyc.
We went to breakneck ridge on memorial day weekend first time hiking up to the top it was pretty intense and sooo busy that day just lines of people trekking up the mountain we vlogged the best we could that day. Drove to Cold Spring on the way back it was such a cool town with so many little antique shops on their main street. Definitely a good day trip from the city!
@@HereBeBarr haha relatively speaking. Thank you! Honestly I've never lived a place as much as London until I went to New York. Love how people just cross the street whenever there's a break in traffic. I found my people 😆
I live in rural Pennsylvania and have come across several since moving here three years ago. The first time I saw one, was in the middle of a road in a state park lol It was my first time seeing one in the wild.
@@LincolnintheAdirondacks I didn't know "Rattlesnakes" existed back East. I thought it was a Southwest thing. We often do get reports of "Diamondback" attacks in most of our mountain parks and some of the outlining residential areas. I just haven't seen any since moving to Phoenix 25 years ago.
The country there is beautiful and I’m lucky that I live five minutes from the Bush and I go in there to get away from the city no bears though but we have snakes great video 👍👍
