This weeks video is mostly a pedalboard rebuild vlog but we also look at why I'm rebuilding my board AGAIN! I picked up a HX stomp XL at The Guitar Show in Birmingham just the other weekend, I had a pretty good reason to upgrade so watch along to find out!

Sometimes I think I might want a big, fancy pedal board. Thanks for reminding me that I don't 🤣🤣 it's nice to see you go through the process so I can identify the multiple points I would have yeeted the lot out of the window

I am using XL with Tonex only in my effects loop. No other pedals. I have a preset per song and buttons assigned to snapshots per part of the song. I never need to tap dance during songs. I have few presets with different setups when I'm jamming. Also I have few presets to use infront of the amp.

I just got a tonex the other day for demo on the pedalboards of doom channel I make videos for, only used it briefly but it sounded fantastic.

love mine, about a year into it, but so many settings and actually difficulty getting the levels between the various presets to match so that when I switch I am not suddenly way too loud. But no regrets so far, powerful tool.

Yeah I mainly just use one preset with all the extra effects I want. I’ve had an XL in the past, shouldn’t have sold it!

congrats and the XL is great value for its price tag. i love the HX Stomp and use it daily, but i gave up on the idea of integrating it into a board or combining it with other pedals. Well, the only pedal is a H9 the stomp runs into... Well is use the stomp as my "amp" and go direct.

The XL just makes the stomp so much more usable for me, takes up a fair bit of space but for the functionality it’s worth it!

Why not just use a full Helix floor? I bet it could have a similar footprint and sound like your current board.

I like pedals! 😁the ones on my board are some of my favourites and I just like the quick tone tweaking you can do with them.

I’m right there with you mate, it’s basically a JF solo album that the others played on, it’s by far my favourite overall.

Also - definitely keep the DM-2. An analog delay becomes infinitely more attractive when you get stuck with only digital ones haha

I ended up putting the DD-200 on in place of the DM-2, it fit reasonable well and I just figured it made more sense functionality wise.

Pedals are overrated. I used a few the other night for the first time since December. It's not worth the effort when playing at home. Gigs however? Sure
