This channel is all about Guitar, Guitar Gear and Music, my focus recently is on talking about gear, doing reviews and making videos about what I'm up to with my guitar gear but in the past I've also focussed on making covers of some of my favourite songs.
Another great video Jason. Looks like you've done a great job on the guitar too. Can't wait to play it. 25 minute video made in a few days is a great achievement too! Keep it up
Ha, I am watching Epiphone lp custom videos having just got a good deal on omega of those Adam Jones art collection ones you mentioned. And I know what you mean about the hard case. I bought the Adam Jones because I love the look, not because I am an Adam Jones or Tool fan. It comes in a "protector" hard case which does not have any mention of Adam Jones on. I love that it doesn't. Incidentally, the finish on my example seems flawless, which I think is quite lucky given it’s one of the last ones still for sale. I will have to check out your review of yours.
Thanks for posting this video, I bought the Blackface version of the TMDR before the Blonde was introduced… it sounded fantastic with my Strat on those sparkly clean tones but forever I was struggling trying to get pedals to sound good with this amp so much so I almost thought about keeping this and buying another valve amp just so I could use distortion and fuzz pedals. The answer for me was to apply the firmware without the bright cap, and I swapped out the Jenson speaker for the Celestion neo cream back, essentially creating a blonde version in a black housing. Couldn’t be happier with the amp now I use it every day. I don’t feel the need to buy another amp anymore.
Awesome, I like the idea of doing this to the stock one and removing the tone master badge for a stealth tone master that would potentially trick the purists! I still love valve amps but my back is less fond of them.
Sounded great, I do think the dane sounds alot better into fender style amps. Into a more modern Marshall style there's a sharp brightness you can't quite dial out - well I couldn't anyway!
I need to give it a try into a Marshall model I think, for the demo I used a deluxe reverb model in the Tonex, sounded basically identical to how it sounds through my tone master.
I've watched quite a number of these Montypresso vids now and frankly I haven't been that impressed. It certainly makes dry boards seem shinier and more hydrated but the darkening effect seems minimal in every case. I had considered getting some for my Vintera '60s Strat with pau ferro board, but at the price and for the results you get it just doesn't seem worth it.
Really it’s one of those things where one application isn’t going to be life changing, especially if it’s only left on for a few minutes, after multiple applications you might see a significant difference. It’s good as a fretboard conditioner at least and I’ve also used it to great success for aging bare wood when relicing a guitar. I also recently took the finish off the back of my telecaster neck and used this to make the wood look a little less brand new so to speak. It has its uses, if they were charging £50 I’d be telling people to leave well alone but I don’t think the price is too crazy myself.
Great demo, thanks! I'm surprised by how clean that neck pickup sounds. Usually they're a little muddy for my taste. And the bridge pickup doesn't sound too harsh, either.
I love my Wino. I picked up a 2021 Silverburst Custom ltd ed off a guy locally and loved it so much, I ordered up the WIno the same night. I was very hesitant at first since I had a crappy experience with an Epiphone years ago! When these newer customs got released, they spoke to me right away. The headstock, ebony and over look just made them more desirable compared to the old ugly headstock. I upgraded my bridge pickup also with a Duncan Custom.
I’d get the Hx one, access to all the line 6 sounds and more presets accessible without midi. I got it for additional modulation but with the knowledge that I could use some of the delays to complement the space echo. Got mine on eBay for £200 too so saved a chunk over the new price. Plus, it has a tuner so more space in the board too.
@@JasonWharton82 Quadcortex / Ax fx and whatever is coming lurks in the background and sometimes it does get tempting to go screw it im settling there lol.
@@Paul-DI’ve flirted with it in the past, had the Helix LT for a while, but I always go back to pedals. I think if I had endless money I’d probably have both as options.
Hey Jason. Interested you have your Octaver at the beginning of the chain. I use the one on my H9 as I use that for modulation ie after the drives. When difference does I make to have octaves in front?
I think they track slightly better being at the beginning of the chain and I also prefer the sound I get with drives and fuzz after it rather than before it, that way I’m distorting the octave sound rather than adding the octave sound to the distorted signal. Just my preference though, there are no rules!
very nice review! Back in 2012 i picked up a "copy" of one of these from a music shop in the states called Sigler. They run a custom shop called 920D. They used to mod in store a whole bunch of different signature models! Mine is built off a Mexican Standard, (21 fret 😒) but they installed the same pickups, wired it up the same way, put in the extra two springs to tighten the trem right up, (it's not a hard tail... but kind of the next best thing,) threw on Fender Locking Tuners, a really good gig bag and a very decent set up, including dressing the fret ends and nut, put on a set of 10's... and shipped it to me in Australia for under $1000au... when the Corgan Signature was running at $2500 (retail) ... unfortunately i don't think they do that any more... but if you find a time machine, go check them out 👌👌
Thanks for this review, I played the Artist series last weekend of the jones guitar, loved how it played and a nice feel to it, love to get my hands on the Cantrell…I don’t own a ebony fingerboard so it felt different to my rosewood guitars, Subbed! ✊🏼💙🎸
Thanks for the kind words and the sub, this vid was more just a bit of fun but I do have dedicated vids on both these guitars taking a deeper dive with them. Cheers!
One year too late, but his name is Josh Scott, not Josh Smith. But it is nice to see people have mostly finally come to their senses and dropped the asking prices for the Bad Monkey's on Reverb to something closer to realistic. Might just pick one up now.
I flashed up a correction on screen, it was a brain fart moment. They sound pretty decent but certainly weren’t worth the stupid prices people were asking.
Not that so much, more that I was having to drive the dynamic mic at full gain on my interface because of how far away the mic is from me. Remedied in my newer vids with a cloud lifter in line preamp and having the mic a bit closer.
I purchased one recently based on this review. I had always loved the look and sound and finally but the bullet. My mate tried it and he ordered one as well
Record from cab simulation is awful and useless. I will expect better result for this money. Anyway this is bullet prof amp and don't have possibility to breakdown?
Hard to say, mine has been flawless since I got it and I use it multiple times per week but don’t gig. One of the biggest draw backs of this kind of amps is availability of the parts, they are DSP based which means they are not as straight forward for an amp technician to fix as a traditional amp, but at the same time they have fewer parts to break and don’t require re-valving (re-tubing for the American folk).
You probably shouldn’t watch the video where I get the music man version then….😂 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-CJQfYZkCglE.htmlsi=XIweTHldBurYFvk9
This is a great upgrade. Would be nice if it came from Fender sanded. Now, you can determine the shade of wax on the neck. I agree, it feels much nicer and enjoyable to play. I will follow you, and attempt DIM (Do It Myself). Thanks for showing your Go at the job. You have me confidence to give it a go. Based on Custom shop pricing, you just added $500 on increased value. Great work.
It honestly feels great, every time I pick it up I’m like, damn, I did a good job on this! I need to redo my Strat really as the tele feels waaay better. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Just bought one. After 52 years of playing guitar. Serious guitar, this was, without a doubt, the biggest waste of money I’ve ever spent on an effects pedal. I love Boss products. Just not this one. Ugh.
I appreciate the vid. I was considering doing this, however, this video helped me not to worry about darkening my fretboard. I'd prefer not to take that type of time and effort, while some may it's not for me. Thanks for putting it together!
Yes!! I love a fuzz!! I do like how this pedal gives you more control over various parameters, for example adjusting the bass response can totally transform a fuzz from phat to tiny buzz. I wonder how many different types of fuzz tone could be had out of this pedal? Cool video man, hope you’re well!
