Love the video, but a recommendation for those just getting into fishing. Academy has a very good budget line of rods (H20 series) that I have abused and used to catch countless fish. Also there are plenty of budget spinning reels that will more than get the job done. My personal mantra is to never spend more than 150 dollars on a rod and reel combo because I do a ton of kayak fishing and losing an expensive rod or reel would down right suck. It’s always nice to have expensive gear but it isn’t necessary to catch fish.

Just came back to rewatch this for putting together my fanny pack of lures for quick pond fishing trips to our local neighborhood pond. This vid is AWESOME for that! I'm getting tired of taking the whole backpack full of extra stuff with me when the pond is just feet away from my door.

Hands down this was one of my ALL TIME favorite videos 💯🔥👏‼️. Having 2 of my fav guys putting a bass pond fishing "Basics" together is a 🎣🎯. I'd love to see you guys do the same kind of video talking about hooks, sinkers/ weights and leaders. The when, where, how, and what lure's/baits to use them on‼️!! Piscifun reels aren’t top of the line, but I have the Torrent and it’s pretty good for the price. It was easy to dial in, casts pretty far and hasn’t failed in three years. I’ve used a SixGill Typhoon which is a $159 reel and I actually like the Piscifun reel better. I’ve got everything from super cheap, I tried a reel from Wish, to Shimano reels. I really like Shimano. By the way, I was surprised by the reel from Wish. It’s nowhere near a top-tier reel, but it does pretty well. I haven’t tried Kastking, but I might soon.

@@johnblossom8447 When you look at the reels and the price, with so many being over 100.00 for the price and the quality I feel that both the companies are great for someone wanting a great reel with the quality I have both companies in spinning reels witch is what I like to use

Thank you for the tips about pond fishing Yakpak. Love your videos. Keep doing what you're doing. My dad was also in the Army and was stationed at Fort Bragg. He was in the 82nd Airborne. Of course this was in the 70s.

I bought the SLX before the SLX DC and it's a great $100 reel. Love it. Lews is really good and I always suggest the American Hero for starters.

I have a 13 year old quantum it’s a great brand. I was a 1 rod 1 reel guy until about a year ago so I used this $100 bill dance quantum combo for over a decade and it’s still kickin. I hope norm sees this lol. Give quantum a shot.

I like your video's but I can't rock with all your suggestions. I love my Shimano poison adrena rod 7'4" medium-heavy with metanium DC reel. It's really and incredible combo. I've had bad luck with the rotator I bought several. They seem to bind up and twist my line a lot. The Whopper plopper works much better.

You should try saint croix rods that are made in my home state; Wisconsin. You can order them online. For my personal experience with them they are pretty good rods. Please, both you and Norm should make a video on trying them.

A good starter baitcaster is probably a silver max or black max by abu garcia I have a black max I got it and have not had a problem. My brother got one and it was $60 and it works great

They look good. Just seen one that look like mine lifted. But I have a lifetime warranty on my ram and if I lift it I lose the warranty. But I have my cj7 on 35 instead lol
