#1 Thing you need to know when choosing a pressure washer is cleaning power. And how do you determine this? Well Steve will tell you how. Every pressure washer gives you the water pressure in PSI (pounds per square inch) and the water flow in GPM (gallons per minute), but that's where the confusion starts. Some manufacturers confuse you with high PSI and a low GPM or a low PSI and high GPM, but what is better? Do you know what indicates the machines overall performance when comparing it to other machines? You need to know how to calculate the cleaning units (CU) to determine the cleaning power. It is super fast and simple. You need to know this!! Watch now!

I'm 76 and to be honest not very mechanically inclined. I've always depended of shops to repair my lawn equipment. That stopped last year when I came upon your videos. Your simple to understand instructions and visual guidance have not only given me the confidence to try to fix my own gear but I have succeeded in doing so. I truly wish I could have found your videos sooner but very grateful to you for the knowledge you've been so kind to share.

I agree, Steve has made life better for many of us. I'm 70 and have a history of small engine work under my belt. Watching this channel, I've learned a lot. I guess, maybe, this proves you Can 'teach an old dog new tricks'. We DO appreciate you, Steve. Also, love it when your wife puts her two cents in, you two make a great team! We are all fortunate that you two have decided to share all this hard-won information with us. Nice to see this great information with tons of tips and tricks, never gets lost.@@StevesSmallEngineSaloon

The emphasis being on your new confidence and knowledge and without the hassle of transport to shop and the expense of the fees in this harder economic climate, not that you've just stopped giving work to a local repair shop because these video's have made it easy! 💁‍♂️🤭

@@waynestefinashen239 very true. And if you have a steam function, make sure to get nozzles rated for high heat. Otherwise the O-rings will blow out after about an hour, and scalding hot water will be trickling down your arm.

This formula works just like calculating electrical power; voltage x amperage= wattage. Voltage is pressure, amperage is the quantity of electrons flowing.

I always enjoy your videos, Steve! Put my pressure washer away for the winter, though, just last week. Today I smashed my thumbs and fingers multiple times installing the 44" snow blower on Martha, My Deere. Now we're ready! Thanks, Steve!
@sounderdavis5446
@sounderdavis5446 6 месяцев назад
Super helpful tip. Just keep in mind, if cleaning exterior siding, or a vehicle, strong pressure washers can generate more pressure than is ideal for the situation. More is not always better! Of course one can dial back pressure on a powerful unit... and not dial it up enough on a weak one. But get too close to a vehicle or use high pressure on siding, and you can strip paint you're not ready to replace.
@waynestefinashen239
@waynestefinashen239 6 месяцев назад
At Eliminator Performance we actually use our Generac pressure washer to cut large branches or pieces of wood like 2 x 4 or other sizes out of snowblower auger assemblies when they are jammed in so tight a pry bar will not budge them. This is how powerfull they are, within a few minutes on the high pressure nozzle we cut right through the lumber.

Thanks, Steve, for the tip, I never knew. As for complainers, I too stopped doing it for similar reasons. The last straw came when a guy called me to complain his machine wouldn't start before a snow, I drove to his hose only to find he didn't open the shut-off. That's when I threw my hands up and said that's it. Hope you & April have a Merry Christmas & Happy New Year.

Excellent information on pressure washers. Customers be aware that too much pressure can actually damage things like the clear coat on your vehicle or even cut right through vinyl siding. At EP we have used our Generac pressure washer (which i believe is only 2500 psi but with the small stream high pressure nozzle) to cut right through 2 x 4 lumber that has been jammed in a snowblower auger system and could not be removed with a pry bar.
@jeremytruscott8214
@jeremytruscott8214 6 месяцев назад
Different cleaning tasks require different attributes. Flat work, removing soil and organic matter from driveways or walks its better to have a higher volume of water. 3000psi @ 1.5gpm will loosen the debris just fine but the low volume will leave the crap piling up there at your feet. You need volume to move the stuff away. Removing graffiti from a masonry wall you don't necessarily need a 5 or 6 gpm flow rate, you're better off with the higher pressures. A good general purpose machine, minimum 3000psi/3gpm preferably with an adjustable unloader.

Hey I’ve got a question for ya Steve, or anyone else who knows… Premix 2-stroke fuel often comes in bottles that say 40:1/50:1. So which one is it? It can’t be 2 fuel ratios at once.
