I’m low porosity fine 4c hair. When you used the kinky curly knot today ... I started off with that then I came across Shea moisture raw Shea detangler . I use that one for winter months alone as a moistures especially when I blow out my hair in winter and need to soften the Afro. And I love things that smell like food lol not a fan of mint and floral. But if it works it works :) . I prefer moisture over definition. Yeah, Grapeseed oil is awesome. It makes my hair very soft and manageable, it also helps to seal in moisture.

I also have low porosity protein sensitive hair and a lot of hair on my head mixed somewhere between 4b & 4c. My hair also does not like coconut oil. I use a leave in then follow up with An omega rich oil like flaxseed and Argan oil mixed with castor oil and olive oil as the main base. I also take the fish oil capsules and add the oil from inside into my mixture. My hair loves those heavier oils. The Moisture last for days in my hair and I use grease over it to seal it in. Adding grease back to my regiment was the best advice I’ve ever taken for my hair. The shine and the softness from it is amazing! Thank you for that advice!!!!

hey girl! if you’re “protein sensitive”, that means your hair is healthy and doesn’t need any added protein :) or if your hair does need protein but you still find yourself being “protein sensitive”, then you aren’t maintaining your hair’s moisture/protein balance by not following your protein treatment up with a moisturizing DC. great video though 👍🏽

Oils that dont work for me are coconut oil and olive oil. Castor and macadamia oil work well on my protein sensitive, low porosity hair.

In the process of finding my porosity and hair type. My hair is fine but looks like it is thick. I used shea moisture for low porosity and in made my hair feel so stripped. I use Coconut grease blue magic it's keeps my hair extra soft and it's grows fast and I use assuie shampoo and conditioner it works good for my hair and hot water in a bottle I use Cantu natural hair product

I love your tutorials and I think your amazing. I too have fine, but dense low porosity protein sensitive hair and I am transitioning . When I have looked up some of your recommended products they seem to contain dimethicone which is a silicone and I have been told to avoid this so Aussie and mixed chicks etc I would not be able to use, do you use them and not worry because you shampoo / cleanse them out? Also I’m not sure if I should use glycerin does this act as a silicone too. I have been using, Giovanni leave in, kinky curly leave in, oyin moisture dew. I wash with Giovanni 50/50 have also used rhassoul clay. I Deep condition with a mixture of Shea Moisture products, LOVED Tgin deep conditioner but it has silicones use kinky curly custard as my gel. Any thoughts comments gratefully received. Please keep posting.. I also follow Iyda Michael who has some similar thoughts to you, don’t know what I’d do without you 💕

Awwwww thanks so much! To address your points/concerns: - Dimethicone is water soluble so it's not necessarily a bad cone (if I'm not mistaken). - I do use shampoo (I cannot live without it ahahaha). I do not shampoo after deep conditioning though, I shampoo, condition, deep condition, then rinse and moisturize/seal as usual. (Wash routine loading) - Glycerin is a humectant so it draws water (this can be good or bad depending on which side the moisture is on: your hair, or the air). Glycerin is great if you crave moisture in more humid environments however, it does not help with the retention of a style in said environments. Lol to be honest, I don't believe in methods that don't use true cleansers. It's cool if co-washing only works for people but I personally believe that the hair does have to be cleansed (with a detergent, even a mild one) every so often. This is how I see it: you can't clean clothing with fabric softener, you need detergent. Same with the skin. The scalp is skin. I love kinky curly and oyin. I don't use shea moisture.... that might change but it's never worked for me. TGIN not tried but I may since our hair seems to be quite similar. Ultimately though, do what works for YOU! My products are more suggestions than they are the truth, lol. They work for me exceptionally well but this may not be the case for everyone. ALSO, I am gonna check Idya out! Thanks!

Zara and Nicola thank you thank you, I am definitely changing things up with your advice. Sorry I do only shampoo first then condition detangle and deep condition then style didn’t write it down right doh! UK is sadly not so great on all these fabulous hair products but we’re getting there. Curl junkie and deva curl I still can’t get the ones I want. I will try yes to carrots and you holy grail shampoos. Because I’m transitioning my hair is very delicate. I did by the recommended hair growth oil and am using as they instruct. I too can’t bear sitting massaging my scalp so will use my massager. Agree re shampooing and will purchase one that is gentle. I do so a lot of recommendations for creme of nature which I’m interested in. I thought going natural would save me. Money not going to the salon but I spend double on products. Keep being cool girl 🙏💕

If shampoo dries out your hair you are using the wrong shampoo. I use 22nd Century Woman's shampoo bar weekly and my hair loves it and it is never drying. I love the Aussie moist as a pre-poo..I use grapeseed oil as my oil of choice; it is light and my hair drinks it up without becoming oily.
