I had a similar issue with shampoos. No matter how gentle the cleansing agent or how plentiful the moisturizing properties, my hair would still get stripped. Actually that creme of nature shampoo stripped my hair. I realized it was because I was replacing protein in my hair with silicones because I believed I was protein sensitive. Obviously my hair was brittle without protein and silicones act as a strengthening barrier. But the shampoo would wash away the silicones and expose my weak, brittle hair. Then I decided to give my hair a clarifying shampoo, ditch the silicones, and magically protein containing products began working on my hair. I started strengthening my hair with aryuvedic herbs, like fenugreek. Now I have no problem with shampoos because my hair is strong enough to get cleansed without becoming as stripped as a brillo pad
Yes I have to dilute the creme of nature shampoo before using it but out of all the other shampoos it doesn't strip the hair as much! Wow it looks like you really figured out your hair, good job!
I hope you all are enjoying the holidays! If any of you know of any other cleansers that are great for low porosity and protein sensitive hair, please leave them in the comments below so you can help others watching and so I can give them a try and add them into a future video :)
Iyda Michael it doesn’t strip the hair.... they have travel size on their website try the travel size first and see if u like it and then by the bigger one if it’s a yes .... but that’s what I’m currently using for my hair (also low porosity)
I love your videos. I also discovered I have low porosity and protein free hair. I have used the products you talked about and it make# a difference in my hair regimen. Thank you.
Hello Lyda I shampoo with shea moisture products or isoplus shampoo. I have used suave 1 or 2 times but I love my shea moisture products and used to use cantu but you now am using shea moisture products. Please have a blessed day. P.s. my hair hates Cocount oil. This oil is not good for my hair. Thank you lyda for helping me understand low porosity hair. Be Blessed.
Hi! This video serious youve made has been so helpful. I’m putting together a haircare routine for my low porosity 4b hair. Have you ever used the TGIN Moisture Rich Shampoo? I have used it in the past with great success but just wanted to confirm if it is low-porosity friendly. Thanks so much for being you! 🤗
I seriously love your videos:) I use Acure organics pumpkin and Argan oil mega moisture shampoo, it’s completely sulfate, paraben and silicone free! It also smells amazing:) another shampoo I like is renpure professional tea tree and lemon sage shampoo in the big liter bottle that’s like $7. I added ACV to it to make it more cleansing because I realized that it does have a silicone at the bottom of the ingredients list and I wanted to make sure that I got no buildup
I'm so grateful to you! I have low porosity protein sensitive hair and everything you recommended that I've tried I loved, except the shampoo. The cream of nature is so drying and the co washes don't really work! I'm going to try the Mane choice. Would you review SHEA MOISTURIZER LOW POROSITY SHAMPOO PLEASE!!!
Thank you! The creme of nature is stripping so I dilute it with water and only concentrate on my roots but I havent really used it in a while to clarify, instead I use a clay mask and the Mane Choice Hydrating Shampoo. I am surprised that the DevaCurl Original No Poo and Quidad Cowash didnt work well for you! I don't use Shea Moisture products so unfortunately will not be able to do a review.
I use Keracare Hydrating Detangling Shampoo. It’s very moisturizing and I’m able to detangle with ease. It’s very rich so some people will dilute it because it’s very sudsy. It is pH balanced as well at 6.0. It does have hydrolyzed wheat protein midway on the ingredient list though....
You know what! I have read great reviews on that but didn't try it because of the protein in it. But maybe its a really small amount, so it wont hurt to try! I will add that to the list, thank you :)
The Kera Care moisturizing shampoo for color treated hair is my holy grail shampoo. I find it to be even more moisturizing than the hydrating detangling shampoo. I am also lo po/coarse/protein sensitive but seem to be able to tolerate hydrolyzed wheat protein which this shampoo has. This shampoo almost feels like a conditioner it's so moisturizing!
Hey I LOVE your hair lol, I do have a TIP I do now, I use a clear plastic bottle and I measured 2 to 3 Tablespoon of shampoo, 3 to 4 Tablespoons of favorite oils (sweet almond oil and Grapeseed oil), 5 to 6 tablespoons of your favorite moisturizing conditioner and 1 to 1 1/2 tablespoon of baking soda then I shake it up then add 1 to 2 tablespoon of aloe vera gel or juice and rest warm water but leave by 1inch at the top, put your hair in 4 loosed Twis wet here squeeze your mix at the scab then massage then rinse. Sometimes you need add little more oil or moisturizer conditioner so you hair won’t dry out and another TIP I have another bottle ready with 3 tablespoons of jojoba oil and 2 tablespoons of moisturizer conditioner and warm water and shake and pour ends of hair to the roots and let it set 15 to 30 mins then rinse... I hope this help my low porosity Kings and Queens 😘
Thanks so much for sharing! My low porosity hair is not so protein sensitive, so I have a lot more options when choosing a shampoo, but it is a challenge finding one that adequately cleanses without stripping. Your hair looks fabulous! The volume is amazing. Is that a twist out?
I love your videos 😍 it's hard to find other low porosity girls. I have a question that's not related to the video..... What heat protectant would you recommend? I've recently started diffusing my hair and realized I like the results...
have you tried the curls unleashed leave in conditioner....its smells really good and my hair likes it and I have low porosity ,protein sensitive hair. Thank you sooooo much for your videos I feel finally someone that can tell me what was wrong with my hair......
Hi iyda, your videos are always so acurate so i just wanted to ask you if for this particular video you could add a adisclaimer for the no poo from devacurl because of the scandal around the brand. i saw this video and bought devacurl and will have to stop using it now and it was so expensive so it would be cool to save some girls some money by adding a disclaimer :) thankssss
I have seen your RU-vid videos, after searching and watching so many videos I found your videos helpful. Though, I am bit concerned as I from India and most of the products you suggested are not available in India. About my hair. I have type 2A low porosity, fine textured, low density hairs with dry and hair breakage problems. Please help me with any best shampoo and conditioner which available in india also.
I changed the title to make it more clear because when I read it make it looked confusing! in this video I mention anything that cleanses your hair, Clarifying Shampoo, Regular Shampoo and Cleansing Conditioners! :)
Hi, love the video!! Can you please make a video for college students? I really want to treat my low porosity hair right, but I'm not sure what products I can get on the cheaper side. Is Aunt Jackie a good line?
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS!!!!! I'm struggling HARD finding prodcuts! You know what I tried and my hair liked? Dr. Brommer's peppermint castile soap! I put it in a water bottle with a little of castile soap and separate my hair and cleanse! it was very smooth for my hair and cleansed my scalp amazing! However, same as the bentonite clay, i feel i have to use a deep mask right after it. love your channel! thank you!
Drisneidi Villaman awe I’m so happy this video was helpful!! I used to use the dr bronners soap but then it was getting to harsh on my hair! How much water do you dilute it with?
Iyda Michael i diluted it like a 1 to 4 ratio...I only tried it once though but I alternate every other week with my DC. Can you do a video on what products you pair together? Specially for the creams, gels and oils? What products work well together?
Hi Lyda, I totally agree with you. this is one of my favourite shampoos. I find it a bit pricey, so I searched for another alternative. I recently tried the Cantu Moisturising Shampoo (Sulphate, Silicone, Protein and Paraben Free). I loved it. My hair felt so soft. Really good. If you haven't tried it, give it a go. its quite inexpensive. Hugs and Kisses from Ecila (From England)
Wow thanks for the recommendation! Your right, it is very pricey and I love it when I find a cheaper alternative! Thank you, kiss and hugs back to you :)
Can someone tell me when do you use the clay and when you use clay do you do it after or before you shampoo and conditions your hair. I have low porosity hair with barely any curl pattern because all my hair does is frizz up and it really doesn’t like to absorb any moisture
You use bentonite clay as a clarifying shampoo (make sure to mix it with apple cider vinegar). So when you do use the clay you don't really need to shampoo (but make sure to still condition/deep condition) after. Also, I know how you feel about your hair not absorbing moisture! Have you tried deep conditioning and sealing the moisture with an oil or shea butter? Good luck, don't give up!
Gee whiz! Why recommend items so expensive? I'm glad I've decided to use more natural and ayurvedic products and less store-bought items. I logged on here right after reading about African Black Soap and the use of the coordinating conditioner. It's far less expensive and probably safer for our hair. I'll be following all the rest of your videos and will decide what I want to spend. Funny, I understand people talking about all the decision making we do after going natural. But I love it. I add essential oils to my store-bought conditioners, now, and I'll soon be making ayurvedic recipes. Wish I could say my hair is growing as rapidly as I would like but I have to be consistent in routine and patient. At least it IS growing.
I agree with you that these products are so expensive! I am looking into cheaper options that work! We dont have much for low porosity and protein sensitive hair so unfortunately I am limited in my product suggestions! The ones that happen to work very well are expensive :( Please share where you purchase your natural products from or if you have any DIY recipes, that would be great! Thanks! :)
Do you still use The Mane Choice Hydration Shampoo? It has silk amino acid in it. I’m wondering if it’s too much to use as a weekly cleanser; I want to avoid protein build up!
Yes I use it about once a month! My hair is able to tolerate smaller sized proteins once in a while , like amino acids and its far down the ingredient list so the concentration is a small amount!
Hi dear are you mentioned the main choice shampoo but you did not mention wanting line is it from is it from the paint line or Asian Egyptian I'm can you please help me out here because I would love to try the shampoo thanks
You should shop at Clore Beauty Supply. You will get better deals and prices. If you don't live close to one of these stores you can order on line. Love your videos
The reason why you may need to dilute the CON Argan shampoo is because it is not sulphate free, the formula has changed in the past 2-3 years and so it will be more stripping than the average non sulphate shampoo.
I think you are right, I used it as a clarifying shampoo so I dont mind that it is a bit more stripping because I dont use it often. But yes I would rather use something less stripping that still clarifies my hair!
Iyda Michael I meant to say, the 2 in 1 Shampoo & Conditioner Product, not two separate products (Shampoo than Conditioner products) Versus the cleansing conditioner
I need help I went to my hairdresser and had a few deep treatment done and they contained keratin which I know my hair does not respond well I don’t want to have to chop my hair off :( What is a good protein free deep conditioning treatment
The best shampoo I have found, bar or otherwise, is Chagrin Valley shampoo bar in Carrot Milk& Honey. I also have low porosity hair which is protein sensitive. This stuff is amazing for the full soft texture it gives your hair. I tried a few other varieties of their shampoo bars but none impressed me like the Carrot M&H. It's a 10/10.
So far non of the shampoos I have tried worked like the creme of nature one left a coating on my hair so it didn't feel like my hair was clean. :( I feel like bentonite clay will raise my porosity and that is my fear that my low porosity hair will change. But my issue is most of shampoos under 10 dollars have silicones and sulfate so I don't know what to do now. I might resort to rhassoul clay washing.
Have you tried the mane choice one? I really like it, or the cleansing conditioners? I feel like rhassoul clay leaves a coating on my hair and I like bentonite clay better. Do you mix your clay with water or ACV or a mixture of both.
Iyda Michael both and actually just a few days ago I made a diy african black soap shampoo with african black soap, almond oil, olive,JBCO and honey! This diy shampoo left my scalp clean and my hair supppperrr soft almost as if I already conditioned!! Definently sticking to it
You can also try not your mothers brand, the pink line. They're about $8 for 16oz shampoo and conditioner and have no sulfates, proteins or bad ingredients.
Love your videos! I have a suggestion for shampoo bars. 22nd Century Woman here on RU-vid makes and sells her own products. I've tried her shampoo bars and they are amazing. Check out moorket.com. Looking forward to the rest of your videos for the series. Merry Christmas!
