When I retired, one of my little projects was to explore Ravelry and to add in my stash. It can seem overwhelming, but just make an appointment with yourself (eg every Tuesday afternoon for 1 hour), and it will get done. I hated taking decent photos of each yarn…then I realized I could just find that yarn/colour way in Ravelry and copy someone else’s stash photo (whichever one I felt had the truest colour), copy it to my iPad photos and use it for MY stash.

Great video! I do use a lot of the same features as you. I’m happy to say I put my stash on Ravelry before I even really had a “stash”. It’s so helpful! I still haven’t figured out how to make your own bundles. I know you talked about adding things to your bundles, but I’m not sure you talked about how to create bundles of your own,. Another feature I really use a lot is when you click on a pattern you want to make, you can click on “yarns used” to see what other yarns people have made it with, and it’ll let you filter it by yarns people used that you already have in your stash. I find it very helpful for using your stash.
@chairenn
@chairenn Год назад
The way I've created my bundles (there might be other ways too!) is I just went and added a pattern to favourites. When the "adding to favourites" dialog box pops up, it asks you if you'd also like the pattern to a bundle. You can create a new bundle, e.g. "Socks", right there and then 😊 Then you can also go back to your previously favourited sock patterns and add them to your new bundle.
@thewoollyworker
@thewoollyworker Год назад
Oh yes that feature is really helpful too ! I can create bundles when I go in my favourites, on the tab on the right it says "everything, favourites, bundles, organise". If you click on "bundles" it lets you do a bunch of things there !

Thank you so much for running through all of that function. I joined Revelry years ago but haven't used it much except as a way to find new patterns for particular types of garments/accessories. The number can be quite overwhelming! With all the search tips you showed, it's going to be much easier to narrow those down. I am also enthused to add project pages and stash details. Thanks again x

Thanks for sharing all theses things! You definitely inspired me to start using Ravelry after having an account for years. I had no idea about all the great functions and it's not nearly as confusing and complicated as it looks. I find that adding stash or projects is actually pretty quick (but I guess I don't have that much stuff...) and being able to link stash and projects is super neat. Especially love how it shows you how much yarn you have left. So thanks again for making me use it :)

This was the first of your podcasts that I have not spent the entire time knitting as I was watching my screen for the entire time. I had no idea of the capabilities of Ravelry. In fact, I am somewhat embarrassed to admit that I only found the 'hot right now' section last week. You have opened up so many possibilities for exploration here. I will now spend some time looking around the website and will look forward to any future podcasts you create examining more Ravelry features.

Best Ravelry video! Thanks so much for doing this. Can I ask how and when you decide what goes in your queue? For example is it only when you have purchased the yarn and pattern for a specific item? Also, if you have an item in your favourites and you purchase the pattern so it adds to your library, do you go back and delete it from your favourites then or keep it in both? I'm just getting used to it and I want to streamline my tabs so I get the best from it. I will also be adding my stash, this is a game changer! Thanks so much again. ❤🧶❤🧶

hello! sorry for late reply, i had to think it over and honestly i can't really tell the difference between what's in my queue and my favourites, I guess the queue is things i do see myself doing, but not necessarily within the year and definitely not needing to buy yarn and pattern for first. But everybody does it differently, so what works for me might not work for you! Hope you find a good system !

I loved seeing these 'hidden gems' of features, and really am curious now if there's a way to IMPORT an Microsoft or Google spreadsheet for your stash as you can for Export. However, as strictly a crocheter, I find Ravelry really difficult to use for help, patterns, etc. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I can do, or should I try and find another type of website geared toward crocheting? (Does that unicorn exist?) I'm only about a little over half (27 mins) into the video and truly love all your explanations and helpfulness, THANK YOU SO MUCH!

ohh i don't know if we can import anything yet, but that's a lovely idea, as I'm sure a lot of people keep their own spreadhseets. And sadly don't know of any other website like this, but I do like the big database of crochet patterns available on ravelry, and being able to sort them too !
