She was really good on camera. Is she that bubbly irl? She's a great saleswoman. She knows about her stuff as well as the stuff on the market they don't offer. That was great, JD.
Long time listener, first time caller...but I have been watching your interviews lately. You have an interesting way of interviewing people. You clearly have a lot to say, and appear to know a lot. I am curious what the other person would have said.
Wow. Never knew there are so many types. So much complexity! She knows her stuff! I’m impressed. Now I am more confused than ever about picking the right rack. That is another great thing about eTrailer, you can talk to a person and get professional help.
Kuat Transfer 2.0 is the easiest Rv rated bike rack I’ve used. Has cable lock too. Light enough to remove from RV to attach to tow vehicle for heading to remote trails for mountain biking
I have the swagman e spec on the back of my fifth wheel, got it from e trailer. Couldn’t be happier for my needs with both the rack and e trailer. E trailer is my first stop when doing research on Rv products! We frequently swap the rack to the truck when we get on location to transport bikes works beautifully for both purposes on our lectric bikes.
Thanks for this video. It was so very helpful. I just bought an 80 pound fat tire ebike and was going cross-eyed looking through all the available racks currently on the market. Evangeline with eTrailer was so knowledgeable and provided helpful recommendations. I've made my choice. Excellent!
I sell bicycles. I have many customers who need racks for their RVs. Read the fine print on the company’s website. I’ve seen companies who depict e-bikes on the back of trailers and then warm that they’ve received “100s of reports of rack failures on the back of travel trailers and 5th wheels”. Most of the hitch racks I know of are not rated for e-bikes and travel trailers/5th wheels. Putting a hitch rack on a trailer usually reduces it’s weight capacity.
I wish I had watched this video 2 weeks ago. I have current and very frustrating experience with buying the wrong bike rack. I was researching 4-bike, racks and I was going off of the weight capability. We have 1 e-bike and 3 regular bikes. I picked one that could handle the total weight. (no mention on their selling page on Amazon about DO NOT USE on a trailer). I set up the rack, put all the bikes on it the day before a travel day. Held up nicely. Very heavy and heavy duty bike rack. We start driving and 5miles in we are getting flagged down by someone. We stop and go look, and the rack had bent down, pretty far. And our bikes were within inches of dragging on the street. I was able to get the E-bike off, folded up and shoved in the main door on the RV, and we completed our drive with just the 3 regular bikes back there. When we arrived at our destination it was a real bugger to get it out of the receiver. I started doing further research and learning that we never should have put that type of rack on the back of a trailer. The weight rating should have been decreased based on the distance from the back of the hitch. The excessive sway as well as bobbing up and down from bumps causes the bike to fail at a different weight. I left a review on the product warning anyone else from buying that rack for an RV, and asked the seller to add that disclaimer to their page. Thankfully Amazon gave me my money back after I boxed it all up again with the help of the UPS Store (Who keeps boxes when you live in an RV FUll time?)
That was really hard to watch. My Swagman RV rated rack is bolted solid and not hinged for strength and stability without rattling motion. You were correct.
To correct the young lady, you need to tilt the rack away from the rv if you have a rear bumper mount spare tire. I carried bikes on my 5er for several years and had to work around the spare to secure the bikes on the rack.
We have a rear cargo area and we can only access it when the bike rack is tilted away. I think there are a lot of RV’s that would need a tilting bike rack.
Same here, I use that Inno wheel-holding rack shown in the vid and have to tilt it down to access the rear door. Plus I move it to the truck receiver if we’re driving somewhere for the day to ride. The main thing I hate is that it wobbles a lot in the receivers.
@@glenacord If the rack has a 2" hitch, you can pick up an anti-rattle strap for it. Our rack has a 1-1/2" hitch with an adapter to 2" and a threaded bolt, so I tighten the bolt to the 2" receiver to take the play out of the bike rack.
“Have to take the cable lock off”? I’m confused and possibly I misunderstood. We use heavy duty cable locks on our e-bikes on the hitch on the back of our rig. I’ve searched for any legal wording that says cable locks cannot be used on a bike hitch. I can’t find any, can you or someone else here clarify for me?
is that as heavy they will handle?? my bike is almost 100 pounds , than there is my Wifes bike to add another 65-85 pounds so these racks will not be any good!!
Hollywood Racks RV Rider Bike Rack for 2 Electric Bikes - 2" Hitches - Frame Mount is the best bike rack I have found (purchased from E-Trailer ITEM # HLY64FR) to hold both our heavy Rad Bike RadRover 6 Plus Electric Fat Bike on the back of my 32 foot 5th Wheel
