I knew where a bunch of samples were way before I was even aware of that page, actually. I only learned about that document somewhat recently (thanks to CerealYe, who left a comment about it here 2 months ago). A found a decent amount on my own while digging through various sound resources that I had-- but a lot of them I learned about from various video game music, sampling, and Sonic fan site forums (like the one on Sonic Stadium), and some from other Sonic and SEGA fans that I've became good friends with online. There was a big sample hunt going on back then. A lot of information being shared, and a lot of samples being shared around. The "Video Game Sound Sources" spreadsheet document has simply made me more aware of far more sample locations in general now, and has simply made remembering what was where easier. I also try to find those noted sources, and confirm it for myself whenever possible (if I can get them at all, or already happen to have them). Which, I can say that a lot of what's there so far does check out. It's a very useful document.

Here's something interesting: If you check the 'other' folder within the 'JSR_JSRF SAMPLES' collection folder, you'll hear something used, not just by SEGA, but also by Nintendo since the N64 days: 'SCREAM.WAV' = Koopa Troopa's voice(barely even altered at times, if at all). This is, undeniably, the same exact sound clip used when a Koopa Troopa screams, as heard in games like Mario Tennis and Mario Golf, but usually cut short. Not only that, but a small fraction from the very first second of this scream is used to create his normal speaking voice! Anyone can go compare it if they're skeptical, but I've done so already. It's 100% the same, and was surprised to find out that Nintendo had that sound outsourced from a sample album, and also explains why it sounds so weird(because it's two people screaming). I wonder if they've done that for any other iconic character...

Holy crap dude, why doesn't this have more views? Thanks so much for gathering all these samples. I was wondering if you knew the source for the "Fly Like A Butterfly" samples. More specifically the main sample used in that song that says "Fly Like A Butterfly" over and over. It sounds a lot like the same guy who says "Felt like a bulldozer, trying to catch a butterfly" in one of the samples in the pack.

J P 3 years late, but it is the same guy. Listen to the sample again, and then listen and pay close attention to the word butterfly. Then go back and listen to the song from JSRF. And again, pay close attention to the word butterfly. It’s that exact sample. if you want more proof of the fact, keep listening to the song. The sample is used in full on one part.

Dynamite Grizzly No problemo. I'm sure he can... but, even if he can't, they WILL be in this sample pack's next update (which I will finally be putting up for download in February, after I've re-organized my sample collection, and have added the latest sample discoveries to it.)

You're welcome! Also, to be clear on what is safe to use commercially, everything should be safe aside from the direct vocal rips from a rom of the DS game "Sonic Rush", and the files in the "Sonic 3 & Knuckles" folder. Specifically, the "Jeh Jeh Vocals", "Leaf Storm Vocals", "Mirage Road Vocals", and the "Wrapped IN Black whisper" files and all the "Sonic 3 & Knuckles" files are un-safe to use commercially. (That said, this pack was made specifically to benefit the fan work communities of SEGA and the many fans of Hideki Naganuma's work to begin with. It's more encouraged to use this pack for fan works and non-commercial works.) Enjoy the samples!

"Best Service - Prosamples vol. 12 :Dance Vocals" This one has been used sometimes in Air Gear, examples: For "Do! Trippin! Do!" (Do what yo like, do to me), "Some-body-funk" (Yeah, body 1, body 2, aah). (Is not listed anywhere so I think I found it???)

SMW Custom Music Good question. MOST of them should be, as they are from actual sample packs (the exceptions being a few sounds ripped from Sonic 3, and the "wrapped in black" voice sample, and full rips from a few Rush songs). On another note, I have to give this a new download link. It's been brought to my attention that the current link is no longer working.

Hey there! Mind saying where exactly you happened to find the drum loop from SA2's options menu and the drum loop from That's Enough? Also, I believe the "wrapped in black" whisper you have in here is from the DS rom. Is this correct?

TheSuperSpinD Hello! I found the drum loop used in SA2's option menu in track 04 from Zero-G Data file 1, I believe. The 'rising woosh' sound used in the intro of Sky Deck's "General Offensive" is also in the same pack (which track, I don't remember). I think either ProjectCarthage YT or LoGi gave me the "That's Enough" sample. I don't remember as there was some sample sharing going around. Also, the "Wrapped In Black" whisper was indeed straight from the DS rom. By the way, this pack I'm working on here is ever expanding... so if you find anything not in this collection, feel free to share it here. Whatever you find would be much appreciated! :)

I believe someone has a video on the history of Sega's voice samples. It would be pretty useful to get more samples and higher quality versions of them as well.

So...just a late-as-hell follow up on this. If nobody has discovered it already...The SA2 drumloop was in X-Static Goldmine. I likely didn't recall correctly before because I kinda found it at random back then.

Scratch that-- I was wrong. lol X-Static Goldmine just has a similar sample-- the correct one is on Track 04 of Zero G Datafiles 1!
