Okay let me just explain something. I live in US 🇺🇸 but I come from Europe and people over there make crazy power from small engines. There is so many crazy builds (VW/Audi) in Bulgaria, Greece that I’ve seen. Hitting 9sec 1/4mile with a 1.8T and 2.0T 4.cyl cars is just crazy. Most of the people here in the States don’t know shit about the potential of this cars. You go to a car meet with a GTI and you hear people say “yo bro my lawnmower has a bigger engine” that’s why I call the car “Sleeper” because they sleeping on them. They got V8s 2-3times bigger size engine than the GTI and they automatically think that the VW is slow. 🤷🏻♂️ Ive seen car dealerships advertise the GTI as “Fun and sporty family hatch” Just because I added hood vents and few spoilers doesn’t mean my car is fast. There is so many cars out there that look fast but they are actually slow and they are just made to look cool for car meets. The VWs will be always the underdog. Thats why I can keep calling it Sleeper. Hopefully with that video I helped people to stop sleeping on them and see that the car is an amazing tuning platform. Weight to Power ratio is the key. The GTI was amazing! ✌🏻
american car culture is all about showboating, being cocky, rowdy shit. it's all about how it looks. good meets are pretty rare nowadays. people here mostly have no class, no respect, and no knowledge to boot. the good ones have been moving to japan for a reason.
Officially at the end of your build, how much did your gti weight ? Thank you this video was awesome to see you curb stomp much more expensive cars. My brother had this car and I can say it was alot of fun to drive it
I respect your car but its not a sleeper. if you left your car looking stock then yes it is a sleeper. Sleeper means a stock looking or non performance car that's fast but doesn't look fast. Your car looks fast and is fast. I think what you really are saying is you're not a poser or ricer who puts all their money on looks.
I wouldn’t call a vehicle with hood vents, black RPF1’s, vinyl wrap and loud exhaust a “sleeper”. However, this is definitely one of my favorite GTI builds. 👍🏾
@@robbiej0116 My original statement still stands. This GTI looks modified and looks far from factory. A sleeper by definition is a car that looks unassuming visually because all the mods are under the hood.
Agreed. It would be a sleeper if it had regular Golf badges..GTI deleted, resonated and catted exhaust, non PP brakes with steelie 16" wheels on drag radials..lmao
That is super impressive you did most all the work yourself. Can't believe how many cars you took down with that Vortex XL! The stock transmission can handle a lot of abuse. The conversion looked amazing!
I have a 490hp golf r stage 3 big turbo, runs on eth, coil overs, full tuned exhaust, sway bars, it’s really quick and really fun to drive. I’m considering water meth injection and doing an upgraded radiator and both auxiliary cooler next. Sick build man
If everyone is sleeping on your car - call it a futon. Here a sleeper means inconspicuous. You could argue that what qualifies as "conspicuous" can vary greatly between car people and a the average layman . In my opinion, anything that differentiates your car aesthetically from what is sold on the lot erases "sleeper" status. Different OEM wheels - slight drop, debadging...that's kinda a grey area. If it's something only an enthusiast would recognize, and a layman would overlook - you're still a sleeper in my book. All that said, beautiful car bud. I sold my black Mk7 earlier this year. It was an APR Stage2+ (IS38) with the Clupsport TCR muffler, and front muffler delete. Loud AF when I wanted, but completely docile when I didn't. It was so fun showing my taillights to 5.0 Mustangs, and any Charger/Challenger that didn't have a hellcat. Mine was factory fuel system with a 93 tune - APR estimated to be about 350whp. Yours woulda shown me some taillights I believe. Cheers,
Really well documented progress! Congratulations! Own a GTI Clubsport MK7 on a custom exhaust Cobra Sport nonres / Invidia dp on sportcat. Super happy with that combo, soo bassey still zero drone! Just a stage 1, but the neat thing is i have a device so down or uptune wenever i want. So in winters when drive more careful i downtune to save engine some hours! Its at bout 380hp on the BSR tune. Also have the Integrated Engineering carbon fibre intake which looks Mental! 👍
Damn! wasn't really planning on putting a bigger turbo in because i thought it was pointless on a front wheel drive car. but this! definitely changed my mind!
Dude this is exactly what I want to do with my MK8 within a couple years. So far FBO with stage 2 & like yourself I just know it's got so much more room lol. Awesome video!
Thank you bro! I was thinking on getting the mk8 but to be honest I was expecting so much more and a better design for the mark 8. But definitely a better platform than the mk7 🙌🏻
MK8 GTI Stage 2 E85 FBO here, I can't wait for bigger turbo kits for our MK8s, they are gonna be beasts. APR talked about a Stage 3 and 034 is testing MK8R turbos on the GTI so they're coming out SOON!!! I can't wait. Unitrronic already showing their MPI and Im going Flex tune as soon as its released. GOOD TIMES.
Beautiful construction! For me, this is the 2.0 TSI engine VRS Skoda O3 5E. The starry sky is the limit... I wish you many accident-free kilometers! Greetings from Europe, Hungary 🚙💨
when i sold my mk7 dkm stage 3 twin disk, fbo and tuned.... was having issues at 90k miles with things starting to fail and leak oil. was a stage 2 car from 600 miles of ownership. Had the is38 ready to drop in when it started throwing all kinds of CEL and leaking oil
This makes me wish i had a gti instead of a gli, but i like my mk6 pre face lift gli cause you don’t see em very often (at least builds from them). In the process of building it right now :)
Great video. I'm from South africa, GTIs have a great following and respect here. These EA888 engines have fantastic tuning platforms and are great cars. The car is looking really good. I love it. Are you running hybrid turbos is38? That's what guys here in SA aim for. Maybe add some nice tailpipes to the exhaust 👌🏽. I drive a 2022 Kings red Polo Gti. Will follow you bud❤
That’s absolutely bonkers dude the fact it’s spanking a Audi R8 and getting the jump on 700hp GTR’s is straight wild. I got an A3 that I’m doing a similar build but might go with a CTS boss600 turbo to get that extra oomph since I’m awd
@@alexxkolev Oh I'm sure. Right now running EQT stage 2. Plenty for picking up the toddler from school. A few more years and the turbo upgrade will happen!
It's not a sleeper. It has a vented hood, carbon fenders, lip kit and sideskirts, custom wheels, spoiler and a rear diffuser. If it was a sleeper you would've kept the exterior stock. Not a sleeper looks modded AF
Sweet! I have a Mk7.5 R dsg with a Unitronic Stage 1+ tune, 375bhp. It’s my daily driver so it’s plenty quick as is. I couldn’t imagine it with 500whp 😅
@@closg9309 I don’t want to deal with hardware upgrades like downpipes that make the car sound like a tinny ricer. If I want a truly fast car I’ll buy one, like a 992 C4S and tune it to 550-600bhp.
Искам да те питам като профи на лаик.Тая тръбна система ,която се слага на задните седалки за какво точно служи и необходима ли е?Чувал съм ,че е за стабилност на купето при преобръщане.Има ли друго предназначение?Благодаря.
Been stuck between going with a 7.5 or an 8 R. I bought my son a 2016 GTI and it's a blast, now I want something for myself. I can buy whatever I want, but these little fuckers are fun as hell.
