Fully agree with the wide feet recommendation. I tried the Gel Resolution 9 (one of the most recommended by pretty much everyone), but they hurt me because I have a supinated footfall. This reminded me of something Zach once said: the best shoe isn’t the one everyone recommends or the one your favorite player uses; it’s the one that matches YOUR feet. So I truly recommend going to the store, trying them both on, and feeling how they fit you.
what are the best tennis/pickleball shoes for a combination of these issues (in order of most important to least important) : flat arches, wide feet (i usually resolve this by buying men's shoes), hip pain, shin splints
I suffer from heel pain and the shoes I found to be the best didn’t make the list. I’ve tried most of them on the list and the Wilson Rush Pro 4.0 have been by far the best for me.
Thanks so much Dr. Zach. Because of your recommendation, I snagged a pair of the KSwiss Hypercourt Express that I found at a decent price on Amazon Warehouse, and they fit great and are comfortable. I have a spare pair of Oboz inserts that I will put in them, and that should really help my stability. I will let you know how it goes when I hit the court.
Hey Zack, Your reviews are my reference for buying a tennis shoe. Can you tell me what are the most durable outsole tennis shoes. I drag a lot my foot specifically on my backhand and I need something really durable. I ve been replacing my shoes almost every 3 t 4 months. Thanks
My 15 year old daughter plays on average 8-10 hours a week, going through Wilson Rush Pro 4.0 every 6-8 weeks. She is developing a good size hole on upper inside (all the way through) of left shoe from pronation and sliding (not the bottom of shoe, only the upper part). She loves the shoe fit but is there something else out there she should be wearing?? She has wider feet and wears a 10.5 comfortably in the Wilsons. (Hard courts only)
Still have my (several color ways of each) vapor pro HC and vapor 10x. Best shoes ever if you can get your hands on them. Wear size half up due to the narrower fit. Best movement and just enough cushion.
If you had to pick between the mizuno wave enforce tour or the new balance CT rally for comfort, shock absorption and speed which one would you pick . I have been an avid fan of the diadora blue shield and the jet match 3 . I’m looking for something different that has shock absorption and is speedy
Any recommendations for someone who spend very long hours coaching but also needs to hit with advanced players? What would be the most plush or cushion? Thanks!
Does the blushield torneo 2 break in? I ordered .5 size up and it is crazy pressure on my bunion. So weird because I have the same size in the vapor 11 (also bought off your recs) and the torneo feels much looser in the heel but tighter by my bunions (to be fair the vapor 11 isn’t much better). I’m breaking them in today with the game day pros hoping they’ll take more room in the shoe but just wondering if they’ll break in. Super stiff on first wear.
Great vid Zach. Thank you. What about a category for clay court shoes focusing on sliding performances? I'm looking for something wide and stable like Diadora Blushield Torneo 2 Clay or Asics Court FF3 Novak Clay offering good grip BUT not being too aggrassive for good sliding. Any recommonodations?
Do you happen to know if manufacturers keep things pretty consistent across the shoe lines in regards to men vs women? My wife and I are getting into pickleball (more like me transitioning from tennis) and she is not used to wearing... Let's say... Real shoes for athletic endeavors. She probably won't want to shell out $150-200, but I picked up a pair of NB 996v5 for $70, if the women's version has the same build and accolades, I'd get her to try those for that price as well! Love the videos as always! The best on RU-vid for shoes!
Has Mizuno discontinued the Wave Enforce line? I'm seeing no restocks and they just restocked Wave Exceed :(. They've been my favorite shoes for my achilles tendonitis
Thank you❤so much, wonderful informatiořn. I've been trying to find good wide fit shoes that also accommodate swollen feet in the summer. Excellent information. Thank you so much.
Hey Zach! will you be reviewing the On Roger pro 2? I think a comparison with with the first one would be interesting, curious to see it is as ball-of-foot friendly as the first one
What incremental information do we get with the paid shoe guide, versus what is shown on this video and individual shoe reviews? Or is it "just" a way to visually compare a bunch of info that is scattered across your videos?
No love anywhere for the Ultrashot 3? I really wanted to love the Torneo - it's so comfortable - but I have hallux rigidus/limitus and need a really soft upper on top of my enormous sesamoid; the eyelet of the Torneo sits right on it. 😩 If you've got any other recommendations for shoes with soft uppers in that region, I'm all ears!! PS - the South Hills misses you.
How can you possibly add the solution speed FF3 to your list? I have been using the solutions speed line for years, but the three is really poor quality. They messed up the shoe size fitting, the song can never stay in the midline and always slips out. This is such a downgrade and disappointment in comparison to the quality of previous versions!
Thanks for the vid! "Low Volume Heel" would be nice additional category - Personally - Always on the look out for performance shoes that feel like an Alden Indy combo last - thanks!
One category that might be a little niche is I’m a 13.5 which no one makes(and no one carries 14 in a shop, so trying on is impossible). Do you have any recommendations for figuring out which shoes would work well for that?
Hi Zach, difficult question for you please, just wondering what you’d recommend for a narrow foot but with some minor hammer toes, and whose had plantar fasciitis surgery in the past, and needing good ankle support, in a clay version please, thanks.
You still place the Mizuno wave exceed tour 5 in your listing. Has the tour 6 not enhanced the functions of the 5 or been enough to enter your listing ? from what I heard , the 6 has increased the cushion and or comfort at the balls of the feet and enhancements in other categories . I am unsure if you have received this shoe for testing as yet . Durability and weight seems to be the biggest problem with the lt23 ultra . How long can it last if you are not sliding a great deal in the lacoste and per capability, can it last long enough to reach its ideal performance level vs the exceed tour 6 ? Thak You .
Based on initial looks, do you think mizuno’s wave exceed tour 6 would’ve shown up on more of these categories like the enforce did? Or basically same as the 5?
Hi Dr. Zach!! this was a great video! I noticed you didn't touch on people that pronate / supinate. I feel like my foot overpronates a bunch when I wear various types of shoes. Any help?
@@FootDoctorZach thank you so much!! I'm currently returning the asics gel resolution 9 because the elastic band in the shoe is wildly uncomfortable for my arch.
Could you add a category for barefoot shoes/minimal flexible shoes with ample toe boxes and enough lateral support for tennis/basketball? Or just a vid on what is available for people who have transitioned to barefoot and don’t just want wide shoes? Thanks
I’ve been playing with Yonex Eclipsion 4s for a couple years. Tried and true for me, great fit for my narrow foot and provides plenty of cushion. But the main issue I have, which has me trying out different shoes as a replacement, is that the tongue just will not stay centered. Constantly having to pull it out as it goes sideways and causes uncomfortability. Any suggestions on dealing with this? Or know if the Eclipsion 5 tongue is any different and would not move around so much? Thanks all!
The 5's tongue has the same lace hole stabilizer so yeah they're the same in terms of that - review should be up soon its just been raining every day i try and go out with them so hopefully itll be up next week
Where is the link for the pickleball shoes? I still think you are sleeping on shoes from brands like Montis, Tyrol, Diadem, etc... Need reviews of those, not just the same tennis / basketball shoes over and over. Always putting out good videos though.
Ive been wondering the same thing haha- honestly although I could do a list Id like to have actual reviews on all the shoes that people can watch first - hopefully in the summertime if my production output is high I can- tough though with alllllllll the running shoes out there
Big no to the Nikes in the durability category. I have seen so many Nike shoes ripping on the top fabric this summer including mine which are only 1 year old. Everytime I ask somebody about his problems he refers me to several friends that have the exact same quality issues with Nike shoes.
Nike and Adidas tennis are just crap these days! My Walmart tennis shoe last 6 month and cost only $40! Barricades cost $140 and last me a month!😂 On the reviews here, I will try a new pair of Barricades on at the local tennis store and see hoe they feel.😊
