In this video, I show the truck tool box I built with inverter and compressor. This will serve me well when I am camping or off grid with the LMM Duramax
Make a divider to block that stuff off. So tools/equipment doesn't smash stuff. That through the box is called a bulkhead fitting available in many different sizes of threads.
UPDATE. I've been using this box like crazy. I Ran a Pit Boss smoker while we were camping, the air compressor is handy as hell, fixed my sons bike, air up my airlift bags for towing, filled up trailer tires. Like I said handy as hell. Here are the links to most of what I used. Bestauto 12V 150PSI Air Compressor Pump Portable Tire Inflator with 6 Liter Tank 1.6 Gallon for Train Horns Motorhome Tires
ExtremeAire from Extreme Offroad have some really nice higher output 12v model compressors and rated for continuous duty at 100psi. They are pricey and high amp draw though. ARB have some nice units but again are high priced. Air compression takes power. More volume = more power draw. There's a Smitty Built line like Model
Make sure the cables/wire you buy is 100% copper NOT CCA(copper clad aluminum) and better quality circuit breakers like Bussman or BlueSea. That 200a is an Amazon elcheapo likely to fail. That compressor is gonna be extremely low output. Compare CFM ratings at the same PSI. Most compressors are at 40 or 90. If they say cfm and no psi...they are probably free air or 0. A larger number to look good. Higher the PSI the lower the cfm is. So a 10cfm at 0, may be 6cfm at 40 and 2.5cfm at 90
I've been looking for a diy for a box like this. Great job looking forward to the next videos. I've been watching videos on the truck boxes from the commercial companies who make these boxes and the price is outrageous. I was wondering if you might implement solar panels like the one produced by the company that makes the tool box called the juice box. Thanks.
Hey mate great job looks awesome! Did you install some sort of rcd or circuit breaker from your inverter to your power outlets or did you just use a lead or something and wire it strait to it cheers
