Dude, I've been trying to figure this stuff out for years. Years! Aaaah! I'm sitting here bending, well closer to bending than ever before, some notes and gonna have so much fun with this. Thanks, man!
There is a golden nugget there at the 7:12 mark, especially for beginners. Even if you have an entire warehouse to woodshed or if you are often limited to practicing in a rooming house with griping neighbors. For beginning players it is important to trust that it is NOT pressue or volume that helps create a bend. I haven't even completed watching this video before thumbing it up. At first i thought it was a curse being in close quarters. People do not really enjoy hearing practicing much. I cant say enough. Play quietly and slowly and you will play better
be sure to check out the download lesson located in the video description. this audio lesson targets the topic in this video. thanks for checking this out!
Thanks for making the video. I need to work on being more consistent with bending notes. The 2 draw is a tough one. You showed me I need to work harder perfecting the technique. Thanks again for all the videos you've produced they have been a big help.
Ron... I have long been curious about this thought... Just how many persons are out there... alone... they play wherever, at home, in the car, in the backwoods ... etc... but they do so for their own pleasure/interest. No one ever hears their music.... never.... Yet.. these folks are producing extremely fine Blues Harp. ! So fine in fact that producers would love to discover them? I think allot of folks wonder about this very question.
This is the 10th time i watch this video trying to catch everything i can practice it for a week two sometimes 3 then i come back to watch again and i get more things , I noticed by practicing the same thing over and over you can master it ! Here i am at 10th time proud of my progress and thankful for such a harmonica teacher! Practice it and you get it ! Embrace the suck😄
good deal. glad to hear. you might really dig that lesson I have on sale in the video description. if you're ok with downloading and workin with an audio lesson you'll be good to go.
I’m really new to this...but I just noticed 2 people gave this a thumbs down! Why aren’t YOU doing your own vids and make it “perfect” for the rest of us to watch you?? This is the closest I’ll be able to come to sitting down with a great harp player to learn from, and your critical spirit does nothing to help what Ronnie is promoting to help those willing to listen. Just listen to what can help you and forget the rest, if it offends your professional wisdom of bluesy riffs!
Yo ronnie! I'm a U-blocker, and those were really easy for me, that one that starts with the 3 uhmm 3rd note into the second note into the four regular back into the threes and then into the 2 draw is a really nice lick, and I found it a while back before watching this I get to tell you thoguh, sometimes I bend by accident.... like, I have a special 20 in c and I love it. That lick with the one starting on 4 bend I wasn't able to do like you becuase the position if my tongue played a bent note on tree while "it's supposed to be " an invention three Anyway I know that U-blockers are kind of looked down upon by most harp players but I just found it more comfortable in the beginning Pros is that I can switch from single notes to octave splits with practically no effort at all, I have learned how to do a sort of thought vibrato, them wahs kind of knock me around so I dont like them too much so far, but I knwo it will get better Only thing I see I cant do at all in a practical sense is slapping notes, I know it can be done as lip purser and tongue blockers for sureuhmmmm etc. Etc Anyway you most likely wont see this message (three years ago, and..) but in case you do, thanks for the lessons, i should go to sleep now, and in case you wanna know; I've been having my very first special 20 'true harp' (since first one I got was an impulse buy of a cheap 12-15$ silvercreek black gold in A) for, or well since december 11th 2021 at 9 or so am lol 😅😅😅 Anyway thank you for dis, uhmm, later...

Awesome and helpful video bro, just having trouble bending whith my "Meister klasse" C Harp, is it the same on other type of Harps? or is the Meister klasse that´s tougher ?. Kick ass channel.
Thanks for this Ronnie, very helpful! I attended the last summit too... Was awesome! I just wanted to ask: a few times in this video, before breaking down specific riffs, you jammed a bit and threw in a few TB techniques. Splits or octaves I think?? I am a lip purser looking at introducing a bit of blocking into my playing. Can find plenty about learning techniques, but not much about slipping bits into existing reportoires or riffs and licks. E.g. a 2 - 5 split would work really well here etc. Any thoughts?
well, i learned to pucker first and simply substituted single notes for TB or octaves when possible within a phrase. like 2,5 draw is a replacement for 5 draw and 3,6 blow a replacement for 6 blow and 4 draw TB slap instead of 4 draw pucker etc. for me it just seemed to grow organically.
often 2 is hard for beginners if the embouchure and tongue position isn't just right. tongue flat in mouth, shape the word "ah" with your throat and breathe slowly from your diaphragm. Or..it could be the harmonica. ;)
Hi Ronnie Shellist. You and Luke from Harmonica.com have deleted a Video.Thats strange.I Hope everything is Fine with you .Because you are both super cool. Keep up the good work and have a nice Christmas Time
Wait....is this video posted backward somehow? Your low notes are on the wrong end of the harmocia. Or are you holding it backward? Nope. Your wedding ring is in the wrong hand. The video is backward! Right?
