I bought almost the same components you use here and got it up and running yesterday. I'm a photographer and I play guitar a lot. For both of those activities I demand a bit from my computers and so far it seems this one is hitting the mark for me. I was concerned about underbuilding, but those concerns are dissipating. My old hackintosh had a 3rd gen i7 and here I'm at a 10th gen i3. For guitar, playing live into recording software, latency is always an issue, but so far my buffer size is surprisingly low. The one thing I missed in this build is bluetooth. I got the FenviT919, which set up wifi easily, bluetooth requires a connection to a USB 9 pin port on the board, but it's already in use( there's only one). I think my solution is going to be a dongle. I just want it so I can use my keyboard without hooking it up to USB. Thanks for the great video. On another note, my editor for my photography lives in Lisbon. I believe you're in Portugal, yes?
@BartechTV
@BartechTV 9 месяцев назад
I'm glad you found the video useful. macOS runs remarkably well even on lower end hardware like a Core i3. I also missed not having bluetooth, in a previous build I was using an Asus Bluetooth dongle which allowed me to connect an Apple magic keyboard and magic mouse. It's possible to get an internal USB hub, which plugs into the motherboard 9-pin USB header and gives you multiple 9-pin headers. For example the AC-IUSBH-M3 from NZXT or the CC-9310002-WW from Corsair. Yes, I moved to Portugal several years ago, I live in the north near Porto. It's a beautiful country.

I started with 2 hackintosh and now I own a Mac mini, iPad and iPhone. It certainly was the cheapest way running macOS, because both pcs came right from the trash. The first one was thrown out by a company I had business with, they told me to just take it and the other one was laying in a trash bin. The first one was a bit involved, because the cpu and integrated gpu wasn’t supported and I had to get a dedicated gpu and a separate pcie usb3 card to get useful performance and io. The other one had a slightly newer cpu and worked out of the box with no configuration at all, even usb 3. As I didn’t have a Mac, I had to create my boot usb from windows. There is a script (gibmacos or something), but it forced me to use clover as the open core option was broken.

I am in search for new PC and for the first time I considered mayby get Mac Mini M2 pro, but but now after watching your great video, I will be definitely interested in some Hackintosh build. One more question? What keyboard is that ? Sorry on my bad English.
@BartechTV
@BartechTV 10 месяцев назад
Hi, Mac applications are distributed as universal binaries, so they run on both Intel and ARM. Intel machines still count for more than half of the Macs in daily use so it's unlikely that a company would release programs that only run on ARM for at least a few more years. The keyboard is a Redragon K617-RGB - you can find it on Amazon.

Glad that someone did an entry-level, economical Hackintosh build. I think this baremetal is better than any of the ProxmoxVE based builds. Does this setup have audio fully working i.e. for both audio-input and audio-output ? I wanted a Hackintosh only for Garageband, and the past experience with virtualized Hackintosh didn't permit that. Oh and one more question, do you think that this method might work with a slightly older i5-8400 (which has only 6 cores and 6 threads), which has the same IGP (UDH630) ? I have it on a MSI H310M PRO-VDH motherboard with 16GB 2400MHz RAM, and a SATA SSD of 240GB. Would this require some changes in the OpenCore Configurator stage ?

Thanks for the vid. How do you know opencore can be trusted and doesn't contain some trojan? Are you comfortable typing your passwords on this hackintosh?

The opencore source code is freely available. Anybody can download it, examine every line of code, and build it themselves from source.

Great guide! Worked flawlessly with my hardware. I'm looking to install an RX 5500 XT into my build. How do I go about changing the boot argument to get the card to work? Also is hardware acceleration enabled by default? Thanks in advance.
@BartechTV
@BartechTV 11 месяцев назад
You need to open your config.plist in OpenCore Auxiliary Tools or Opencore Configurator, then go to the NVRAM section (as shown at 8:40 in the video). Select the third hexadecimal number down on the left, and in the boot args section add agdpmod=pikera next to boot-args. Then save and you should be good to go. You'll have hardware acceleration straight away using the native drivers in macOS.

I have two questions. 1. What if I can't arrange an existing mac to create bootable mac drive and running commands? 2. If I get the latest generation chipset, ram, and an external GPU, will the steps be the accurate same? Or some changes in process.
@BartechTV

1. You can just use a PC. Download the MacOS install disk image from Apple and write it to your USB drive using Balena Etcher (www.balena.io/etcher) Mount the EFI partition using command line, by doing the following... - Open command prompt - type "diskpart" - type "list disk" and look for your USB drive - type "select disk x" (where x=your USB drive] - type "list partition" and look for your EFI partition - type "select partition x" (where x=your EFI partition) - type "assign letter = E:" - mounts the EFI partition on your PC and assigns it the drive letter E, so you can open it, and copy your EFI folder / edit the plist etc. The config.plist is just a text file, so you can edit it using any plist editor for Windows or in notepad. 2. On the Olarila site, download the right EFI for the CPU architecture you're using - ie. Comet Lake for 10th gen, Rocket Lake for 11th gen, Alder Lake for 12th or 13th gen. If your CPU is 11th, 12th or 13th gen then you need to use a fake CPU id, which the Olarila EFI will take care of. You'll still have to ascertain what audio chipset you have and use the right audio layout. You can see a list of supported codecs and the layout id to use at github.com/acidanthera/AppleALC/wiki/Supported-codecs. Determine which Ethernet controller your motherboard has and delete whatever kexts you don't need from the kexts folder and from the config.plist. Don't get an eGPU if you're making a hackintosh. Just plug the GPU directly into a PCIe X16 slot on the motherboard. MacOS Ventura has drivers for RX 560, RX 570, RX 5700 XT, RX 6600, RX 6600 XT, RX 6800 XT, RX 6900 XT so they'll work out of the box. Just make sure you have Lilu and Whatevergreen kexts up to date.

Thank you so much for sharing this video. I'm curious to know how using an i5 or an i7 processor would impact the overall process. Would there be any significant differences between the i3 and this two? Your insights would be greatly appreciated.
@_jingshen
@_jingshen Год назад
hey! usually the difference is cores and threads. Check your programs and see if they benefit from more cores and threads (usually professional programs do such as video editing, adobe apps etc) however, the price to performance increase may not be worth it so i encourage you to look into it a little bit. Also, if you’re thinking of going up to i7 but down a generation (i.e. 7700k), i don’t recommend it.

Wow nice video, is it also possible with an 12700K or only up to 10th Gen intel? I would try this as an secondary os on an different drive since I have enough M.2 slots
@BartechTV
@BartechTV Год назад
Yes, for Ventura you can use any CPU from 7th gen up to current, 13th gen. You'll need a dedicated AMD graphics card though, as Intel 700 series iGPU's aren't supported in macOS.

excellemt video, everything was well explained and you showed us step by step without cutting in any sort for us to figure it out by our selves, i have a question i have an i7-3770 and an rx 570 4gb and 16 ram what version of macos should i install cause i fear that ventura would be to power hungry for my i7-3770 / and same i have an old i3-2350m with its internal gpu and 8 gb of ram laptop laying around what version of macos should i install ? thanks great video again 😇
@BartechTV
@BartechTV Год назад
Thanks. When choosing an SMBIOS I would go with iMac13,1, since that iMac also used the 3rd Gen Intel CPUs. In theory you could install macOS up to Monterey on your i7 3770, but not Ventura, as Ventura dropped support for Ivy Bridge. However I would stick to Catalina, since that was the last version that officially supported the Ivy Bridge iMac. Your RX 570 should work fine, you just need Lilu and WhateverGreen kexts. For your i3-2350m I would stick to Mojave.

You should also be able to go itx for a little more on the mobo, and slip the whole thing inside an inwin b1 mesh, or a gamemax violin. They come with a psu and are the same price as your case and psu, but small enough to put in a lunchbox.

Does iCloud and iMessages work? Also does it wake from sleep OK? Built quite a few Hackintoshes in my time and these seem to be sticking points. I do like the idea of using the native Apple Wifi as getting that to work has always been problematic.
@BartechTV
@BartechTV Год назад
Yes, iCloud and iMessages work great. I can answer calls to my iPhone right from the hackintosh, respond to messages etc. It wakes from sleep with igfxonln=1 boot arg, without it I would get black screen after boot or after sleep. If you get an Apple Wi-Fi / BT card and adapter to slot into an m.2 or PCIe slot then handoff and continuity work too.
