I welded it up myself out of salvaged aluminum 👍 here’s a video I made making it 😊 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-dl7mwlg1vp8.htmlsi=idzJPTDJ2VfnHU7s
I dont understand how people can go through life filled with so much negativity, it will eat you from the inside, they just want to pass their misery to someone else. Keep doing what your doing Mike, I dont ride any longer but still enjoy all your videos regardles of the content, golden nuggets for anyone to pick up in them.
I like your rationale at the end. I ride with a group of guys that only think bigger is better. They obviously can’t ride as well without a 1100cc monster. I also find they most of them are fairly novice riders without the pain to their body or wallet that comes with bigger bikes. I have been riding for 30 years and now find myself moving toward these smaller bikes. They offer a huge amount of fun and confidence out of the box at a low price of entry. My kids are also just getting into dirt bikes and these are the perfect trail bike for that purpose. Thanks for the content.
Apparently there are those who don't know that Mikie installed a lawnmower type engine on a larger Japanese dirt bike chassis, and made it work for next to nothing... He's doing his thang, and sharing it with us. So some of y'all need to either sit back and let Mikie ride his things his way ,spending his own money on and labor on them,or maybe just stfu and enjoy what you're watching for free 😉
Mike channel is awesome 👏🏾 I bought a bike he reviewed recently and I love it ,china is valued highly in my book because of the value they give for the price I’m honestly amazed. Thanks mike for your insightful videos
Mike I've watched your videos for a long time. Like you I'm a hopeless tinkerer, lol. I find your videos very honest and enjoyable to watch. Keep em coming. I do a few videos as well and I get pretty tired of the RU-vid trolls as well. Sorry I don't make exactly the kind of video they want, but not really. Looking forward to seeing new videos on the templar too. Thanks for all you do Mike.
Cute little bike. I get you wanting to ride a bike with your son, I did the same thing. I have big bikes and small. They are fun. Now that my kids are grown men, they still like to ride, same with my daughter. "Texas on the prairie "
It's sad we got so many haters out here I have a Dr 650 and I love riding that little bike its a blast to ride.. to the haters buy a bike get out of the house and off your phone.
Personally I hope you never change what you do in your videos or how you always give your personal opinion. Your one of the best DIY guys on RU-vid and that’s why I keep coming back thank you
Hey Mike don't worry about what other people say or think you are in your 40s now what other people say or think is of no consequence just keep being your self and they will either figure it out or they won't . Keep that kid of yours riding and have fun
Don't listen to negative people. I had a guy freak out on me the other day over a question about an electric lawn mower. I really don't know about people anymore. I watch your channel because you're an 😮honest person and I enjoy your videos
I bought my son xpro sail 150. Same bike no lights. We have modified cdi box, front sproket 16th, rear shock adjustable rebound/preload dhm, thicker fork oil, ported cylinder head myself. Z40 big cam, ported exhaust header and muffler gutted, Dunlop mx34 tires, renthal kx high bend bars, nibbi pe24 carb, iridium spark plug is cut, hour rpm counter. Only have had to replace hand grip, handle bar, clutch and brakelevers. We have 25hrs on it. Great bike for anyone mechanical. Would highly recommend. Thank you for your content. Btw in wa too 😀
That all sounds great. The iridium plugs are hard on CDI's though. They have too much resistance for the need. But you did state "modified CDI" so maybe your's can take it without burning out. Happy Trails :).
I’ve had my Storm 150 for about a month. I upgraded to the Nibbi PE24 and filter, chain, 16T sprocket, and new exhaust. The Nibbi made a big difference. I moved the needle to the highest/5th position. It’s all working well together. The National Forest trails have been closed due to rain in S/E Texas. Hopefully I can get out there soon.
This is what i've done with my kid he rides his 70cc and i use a 125cc, it's not about being "manley" it's about having fun with the kid haha. Not being some woods alpha male haha
Thanks Joel! Yes my son is really enjoying his bike, good times, my 2 year old is excited about quads and bikes, so he will be riding around with us soon 😂👍 Good times
You could also drill the end of the handlebars out to fit the hand guard mounts right? I got guards for my DLX150 but havent tried mounting them yet. I think I will drill the bar ends to match the size
In the service manual for my XR150L it lists a high elevation jet size and a different spark plug for “high speed running”. That spark plug is one step cooler. It would be nice if that was in the owners manual not a service manual I had to buy separately
P.s.s. ive found on the templar 250 the wheels are from copied honda parts. The fram and plastics are copied from ktm sx-f ? Anyway thought that might help.
Looking forward to your Templar X video, seriously thinking about getting rid of my ol’ 85 xr250 and getting something with electric start and be able to run on the roads 👍🏻enjoy your videos 🤙🏻thanks for the work you put in to making them🤘🏻
Ignore the naysayers, I ride a GPX and have 700 miles of PNW trail riding without issues. I keep up with my KTM buddies just fine and can jump rock and logs better than them. But I do have a trials background that kinda fools them sometimes.
Did you put the nibbi carb on yet? If so, what did you do with the vent tube coming out if the case with a small filter on it, that hooks into the air filter. Can I just plug it since my new nibbi air filter doesn't have a spot for it? 😊
Did he reply because I want to do the same thing does it just connect to that vent tube at the bottom of the nibby? He doesn't explain that we need help?
Awesome that you ride with your son. I bet he will remeber that forever! Have you put an led bulb in the 150? Dont think to much about the haters, you do you man :) its them that have the problem. It seems with motorcycles theres a high concentration of people with the need to proove something... Looking forward to the next one and hopefully some trailriding videos. Awesome nature where you are!
Hi Mike I bought this bike the same time you did. there's a catalytic converter in the muffler it's holding the speed back a little drill out the rivets look in side.
Right on I appreciate the tip on that 👍 I’m going with the FMF in the next video but I definitely will look into that and point it out to others in the next video.
Great vid on the X-Pro Storm 150. I’ve been looking for a light, street-legal trail bike like this for a while. I like the Honda XR150L, but man, it’s 280lbs and 4 times the price of the X-Pro after dealer fees. I look forward to your future reviews!
Hey man I think Chinese bikes are perfect for the beginner and experienced. I've had expensive bikes before and there's no way I could afford to get back into riding buying 4 Japanese bikes. I got 4 Chinese bikes for less than 1 new KTM! It's all about having fun with the family and modifying/upgrading whatcha got.
Just ordered this bike for my 13 yo daughter to ride. I wish these bikes were around when i was a kid. Its so awesome to see you and your son out having a blast. Im going to be ordering one of the templar 250s to chase my daughter's on before to long here mostly because of your reviews. Keep up the great work!
My wife and I bought a 150cc viper dirt bike to get back on the trails and we love the thing. It’s cheap and fun. So we take that and the four wheeler to trail ride. It’s a blast. We have taught lots of people to ride on it and we don’t have to stress about damaging it. These little bikes are a blast and a lot less stressful to own. I love this content, and think you are doing a great job. Thank you for the videos!
Hey Mike, those anti gravity batteries are good, but you have to be careful of your charging system not over charging them as they can explode, which is not pretty having a lithium fire under your bum. Some people have to realise that you're the one who's riding the bike not some armchair commentator.
Great stuff. There isn’t anything better than hanging with your son and having fun on dirt bikes . When my dad was still alive , we rode snow sleds together . Some great memories from that.
I think it’s great that you can get out and teach your son to ride. Y’all should have a blast on the trails. I learned to ride at 5 and have ridden all sorts of bikes. Small bikes are just fun. Sure they’re not a CR 500R, but they’re not trying to kill you either. lol. Great video.
Hey Mike! Thanks for the detailed vids! I decided to order the same bike. I’ll be doing similar upgrades to the ones you’ve done already. I was wondering if you could show me how to adjust the valves in the next upgrades video? Also looking forward to the Nibbi install. Thanks again for the videos and happy riding 👍🏼
Do it! My 150 DLX runs so much better. I just threw on a Nibbi PE 26 and now it starts and idles really well, no fuss to setup. Response is super crispy for me with a 40 pilot, 110 main at sea level (should get you in the ball park).
Hi, I'm getting back to riding again after 40 years of absence. Thank you very much. You're an awesome rider. Forget what people say about you. A good rider can ride anything and more importantly enjoyed it. I want to buy one but unfortunately everyone is out of them. Maybe I'll get the 250 like you have.
Like the the video tell you right know don't listen to these guys I'm 67 and still play with mini bike so if any of guys want to play I've got one that does a 100 miles an hour in 1/8 mile so what you got looks like fun . By the way hitting one of them trees with any size bike still hurts have with with your son that grow up fats
mike dont overthink the mental midget comments you are gettin your boy into this, the 150 is a fun little beast!!!! you know how SOME people are they know so much more than us! KEEP MAKIN THESE GREAT MEMORIES WITH YOUR BOY HES LOVIN IT YOU CAN TELL WHEN YOU ASKED HIM!! GREAT MODS GREAT REVIEWS GREAT DUDE!! THANKS MIKE!!!
Mike, the best part of this video is watching your boy having a blast! Thanks for trying out these bikes. Im in the market for a modern air cooled 250 since i pooched the motor on my 83 XT250 (my fault). Really would like EFI so a late model XT or a CRF250F are top of the list. I was looking at the CRF250F at the dealership and was pretty disappointed on how hideous the frame welds look. I really think these Chinese bike are making leaps and bounds in quality and some of the Japanese bikes that have outsourced manufacturing to other countries are no better as far as build quality, they just cost more. Peace.
Great video. Very informative Got a pit bike for the little man. With a little know how the cheap bikes are great and I like a few mods. Plenty of reliably to ride hard. Believe you me my kid is great for testing the limits LOL
I appreciate you making this video. I am interested in buying a duel sport. I will definitely buy this for my first bike, to learn, to Drop a few time, and commute every now and then. Thank you sir
Lol, riding a 150 4-stroke definitely says something about your masculinity. You’re secure with yourself and open minded. ❤ I sometimes ride a 1975 xl 125. Gives me a special Feeling.
These cheap little Chinese pit bikes are a lot of fun. My Trailmaster TM29 is also made by "Zuma" and has the identical frame but it's a 125cc w/ 17" and 14" wheels. Fun bike to have kicking around and let people ride. If it blows up or gets wrecked or the cops steal (impound) it, no huge loss. Mine's seems pretty durable for what it is.
Would you recommend this as a first bike? I'm a teen looking for a good beginner bike, and for $1100 it seems like you get a pretty decent bike. Just looking for any thoughts on that.
DNM makes really nice adjustable rear shocks. I'm running one on my Orion RXB150XL. I got the model with the reservoir that has more adjustability. Had to get a slightly shorter shock than the one that came on it and run a shock extender so I could clock the rezzy to the side. The rear shock is night and day difference, totally worth the money. These 150s are so much fun around town and in the trails.
I'm with you 100% - small, light bikes are a TON of fun for cow-trailing and having fun with kids and friends. And I really enjoy your videos, and the detailed info you include. Pay no attention to the riff-raff, your son will grow up a better, more independent man than the fan-bois will ever be. Looking forward to the next installment... cheers.
@@Mikefestiva btw how do you think , it is reasonable to pay extra for apollo brand ? They have thesame specs as storm, rfn free ride i guess, just $400 more
Another awesome video Mike! Love it when you do upgrades to anything , and trail footage is always welcome! 🤘🏻😎 The fact that you’re doing it with your son makes it even better. 👍🏻👍🏻 If I wasn’t already subscribed, I would be now.
I like how you took that bike and modified it for the better. And when you asked the little one, do you like riding dirt bikes, big smile. Keep it up Mike suck it to all the nay-sayers.
Have to chuckle when you say about the difference between the 14 and 15t front sprockets. I have an XT250 Yamaha that I find is much better with the 14t in the woods. Did it for decades on nearly all my dual sports and on my 400cc CZ motocross bike. Amazing low end and hill climbing ability compared to my friends with similar bikes. That said, since I'm older ( much older ) a bike that's around 100 lbs lighter than the XT is of great interest for milder riding. Too bad a 190cc isn't offered in the same frame, some of which I believe has around 19hp. That would be really interesting.. My XT would be a totally different bike if it shed 100 lbs.. Thanks for experimenting with it and looking forward to future results..
Yes the 190cc in this frame would really be perfect 👍 I may order one in a few years as long as the frame and suspension hold up well. Thanks for watching 😊
Mike, thanks for the videos, I would also like to see a review on your boys bike, and how it's holding up. I got my son's a couple of x-pro 40cc bikes for Christmas and they haven't been great, and since they have more in common with a weedeater than a motorcycle upgrade parts are hard to come by.
I will definitely review his bike soon, probably keep the video short and simple, so far it’s been a good bike other then the crap chain. The only thing that I’m surprised to say I don’t like about it is it’s too powerful 😂 we run it in seconds gear all the time and had to put the throttle stop down to 1/8 turn. Even at that it will pull a wheelie when i open it up 😂 it’s a 110cc and seems like way too much engine for a kid. He is getting the hang of it now 👍
Mike, I bored my bike out with a 180cc kit and cornered through every daughter, mother, father, forefather and so fort. Big guys couldn't steer their 500cc to 1000cc properly until they saw me ripping, and their common responses were throttling out to get away from me. Good to know small bike can put a smile on my face for life instead of purchasing a bigger one. I sold my 2nd hand Multi and Fatbob because wifey wanted a car, and my first FZ-06 was bargained for a scooter to pick up groceries. Now she couldn't stop me or my XR😂 Marketing wants the youth to be another salesman and the old to spend their retirements. Leave them to bite the dust! Pit bike for life!
$1100 shipped is pretty cheap for a new trail bike. A little work and investment as you use it, and you have something you can enjoy for years. Yes, I can buy a used Honda for similar money, but it will need work too! Keep doing things the way you want. Just FYI, i have more than that in some RC cars! No judgement here 😁✌️
Hey Mike I just brought a nibbi pe24 for my crf 125f I would recomend it took some tuning at first but was brilliant was done and woke up the bike massively, the throttle response is amazing
@@Mikefestiva I really dig my 150 Storm, thank you for the 150 DLX content! I just threw on a Nibbi PE26, with 40 pilot and 110 main (near seal level at 70 degrees) and it pulls so much cleaner than the OE carb. Starts easy, settles into idle with no throttle. I may add a bit more main jet, but it absolutely rips now compared to how it used to run! I still have the stock exhaust, really looking forward to seeing how you fit the FMF muffler. Thank you for your videos!
@@benjaminhambright Right on man! That’s awesome 👍 I definitely will be putting on the Nibbi soon with the FMF, should have a video up in a few weeks possibly. Great to hear you are liking your Storm and the New carb. These bikes offer great value and are a blast to ride 😊👍
I like how you put the icing on things to make them nice. That is a fun bike, and so awesome to ride with your little boy. Very special season of life. Enjoy and thank for sharing. ✌️🇨🇦
I just got mine two days ago. Had to get a new carb, mine was so lean it wouldn’t run with the choke off and when I took it to the gas station 3 minutes from my house my header was glowing red. Anyway, went with a nibbi it’ll be here tomorrow. Any idea what wheels would fit on this? I really want to put 16” supermoto wheels and tires on it but I can not find what wheels would work for it.
I loved the predator powered dirtbike. S to see another small engine bike in use and the true honesty is nice. Don't let the keyboard tough guys get you down.
Hi mike.this is Mike again from lake havasu Arizona. Did you bolt up that nibbi yet and was there enough room.i know the stock carb is real close to the top of that head.how does it run and did you keep the jets that came already installed in new carb or did you put in different sizes.
