ULTRA LOW QUALITY Gives AN EXTREME ADVANTAGE.. FULL STOP. 

Geezz never new it helped spot tanks from the air so easily. That now explains a lot of the "how the fuck did he see me from so high" questions LOL

It always drives me crazy when people see me in the middle of a dense forest. I have also had an enemy kill me with a missile that literally knocked down a tree on its way to me! Often on replays, I also see incoming shells sail through multiple bick walls like they aren't even there, all without LOS.

But the best is when enemy tanks keep disappearing in front of you. Ghost shell sucks but being killed by a ghost tank is even worst.

Something i noticed. The smoke from dead tanks or on fire tanks is severely nerfed on ulq meaning what would normally obscure anyone's vision of you almost completely is pretty much non existent

WT saying that "there is no advantage" is just another proof, that they don't play their own game.

Imagine this, but at 900p instead of 1080p/native resolution, and all that for only + - 20 FPS. Now THAT is fun :).

I tried ULQ but even with the advantages it gives I can’t stomach it. But you can always tell who is playing in it. I like watching some of the twitch streamers play with ULQ.

I tried playing with ULQ because my shitty laptop can barely run the game now, but it is simply broken unplayable in Air RB. If there was a cloud anywhere near someone, they would not render at all. Hell even if the cloud were like 20km behind, the aircraft would not render at all!

As a beginner player I always wondered how I get sniped coming out of spawn with bushes on my tank. I should be like the Predator, but it all makes sense now. Thanks War Funder.

The spotting advantage by the very artifical landscape which let's any vehicle stand out extremely is a huge advantage on it's own... then add to that the objects not rendering in. Let's just say: people playing ULQ on good PCs are just uncool try-hards. ^^

Personally, I'm not so desperate to win that I'm willing to play the game pretending like my PC is a potato. I got a 4K screen for a reason.

I used to play on ulq until recently cause I had a potatoe, suffice to say it actually took some time to get used to max graphics. However now I'm used to it I have no regrets from moving on from ulq.

Many people don't know that the ULQ renderer looks completely different with different versions of the nVidia graphics driver. For example with an old nVidia graphic driver - version 388.92 - on Ultra Low Quality there is no terrain deformation implemented yet and because of that there is no extra terrain layer on top of the base terrain layer. Also with an older nVidia driver there are no smaller objects rendered at all, like the small explosive barrels, smaller benches, carts, tree branches on ground, fences, small logs, etc. They are there in the game but invisible, you only see that your tanks slows down and is hitting something, but you don't see what. With a later version of nVidia driver - version 471.68 - all of the smaller objects will be rendered, and terrain deformation is also visible with same in game graphic settings on the same exact computer. So even Ultra Low Quality can look different depending on your video card driver version. If you don't believe me, try an ancient version of nVidia driver which still works with War Thunder ULQ with same settings and you will see the rendering will look different.

I’d rather loose a battle playing high quality, than winning using (ultra) low quality. Playing at low quality is for losers…..

Most of my experience of using ULQ is having trouble spotting tanks because it's shitty texture quality against even more shitty texture quality as well as things and tanks disappearing. For me when I look far out it just looks like a shit ton of pixels so it's not helpful at all lol.

So ULQ looks like it can let you spot the enemy more easily,but when you using ULQ the flare in night battle won’t work so the night battle will be dark as fuck and the night battle will be unplayable,sometimes even will the NVD on still can’t see anything.

I remember watching that vid three years ago. My old laptop had to play the game with these settings. I've stopped playing War Thunder and have a much better rig now. Very jarring to see it again

Good to see phly actually trying to stand for the voiceless gamers even though Gaijjin won’t care as long as they get their money. He has ignored the most important issue though - the lack of a Vulcan.

I remember the game Joint Operations. An FPS that basically played in the jungle. Turning everything down, would just remove most of the foliage, so all the people, who were crouching and even lying down, were in plain sight. It was really funny.

As an ULQ user (because potato computer), it doesn't give a big CAS advantage in open maps with not a lot of cover. But it makes it really easy to spot tanks in urban maps like advance to the rhine and sweden

I wish they would do away with the kill cam giving your position away in RB. It dumb and really takes a lot away from sniping. And it would help cut down on revenge vendettas.

If someone is actually willing to have those graphics to get a few more kills they need a new hobby

you should have gotten benny or someone to follow you in higher settings to get similar footage, it's plain obvious there is an advantage I guess WT knows this now though so maybe not worth it lol

not to forget the lack of ANY kind of shadows which is a huge advantage on some maps and daylightsettings

They should include graphics setting into matchmaking, so all the ULQ's get matched against each other, while everyone else gets to enjoy a normal experience.

i wish to play at higher settings but with my current pc i am barely getting 30 fps on ULQ with a very bad monitor 1366x 768

I am proud to run in movie settings. I got an immediate headache when i saw the ULQ. We knew for nearly a decade the ULQ loophole exploit was a thing.

"Ultra Low Quality" doesn't render things important like cove for the enemy but does render the fine details on the tank. And the details on the ground and tops of trees, or walls on buildings and roads wtf

Now I know why I would randomly get popped by someone who had no business being able to see me through brush cover from halfway across the map

I use ULQ, not because I want to abuse game mechanic it's just me having a shitty computer

Artillery hits disappear fast on ULQ too. Sometimes the tanks get odd halo around them too.

As much as I hate using ULQ because of how ugly the game looks and the advantages I gain at distance, there are some drawbacks when you fight urban or close quarters.. oh and in the air. With Urban you get certain camouflages that blend in with dead tanks and you can't always distinguish between them. Close quarters have issues with bush textures, as they meld when layered. Planes sort of disappear when they're behind clouds or flying low over urban environments and it gets annoying very quickly. I wish I didn't get 20ish frames on average using ULQ, because the game actually looks kinda nice on higher qualities, but sadly I have a laptop rivaling the dinosaurs in age. That's all I have to say, tata

The trade off being, the game looks horrid and I don't feel like playing it.

ULQ has gotten me killed quite a few times (use it because GPU crashing issues when it stresses even a bit) the amount of times I've shot a rock that I didn't know existed is insane.

it's infuriating that with how out of touch gaijin is with their own game, they still refuse to listen to the players that actually play the game more than any of their own staff.

Except when I play at anything else my laptop goes to 10-15fps. I'm on a gtx660m with a bad CPU too. Update everyone with updates since I posted this 10 months ago and I FINALLY got a new PC 3060 ti and i511400f. So I'm loving the new experiences of this beautiful game. And I can run other games too it's been extremely fun.

The CEO sounds actually high on something, or has just literally never played their own game a single time on each setting.

It's important to note that this is ULQ at a 1080p or more with most likely a 24inch+ monitor, and whilw wiht this setup yes it's gives an definitive advantage it does not help at all when you're trying to distinguish a tank with a 768p monitor with a 16inch screen

Buenos días phly , quería informar a la gente de que ULQ es una desventaja mayor a la ventaja que te puede ofrecer , ya que no se diferencian bien las texturas por más visibilidad que tengas , más en mapas de largo rango , en aviones los demás aviones se mezclan con las nubes , osea que no los ves por más que estén a 400 metros delante tuyo , en batallas de tanques también , no puedes ver dónde rebotaste la bala , ni las huellas de los demás tanques , se pierden muchos efectos útiles , yo juego el ULQ por qué no me dan los requisitos del pc , pero yo no lo veo como una ventaja al 100%

The solution would be so easy. 1. Make 2D Bushes, trees, etc. That block the LOS. 2. Change the render distance so, that vehicles start rendering closer than map objects. If you can't see the bush, you neither will see the tank behind it.

Por mucho tiempo jugué en ULQ por la laptop que tenía y si bien algunos arbustos no se cargan si se crea de todas formas una barrera borrosa detrás de donde debería estar el arbusto original (podemos verlo en 18:08 cuando ve por los binoculares), dejando igual la visibilidad que en gráficos altos, o peor aún pues después de una cierta distancia tanto los enemigos como los objetos no se carguen, haciéndolos invisibles, si quitaran el ULQ muchos jugadores tendrían que dejar el juego

Some people say it's hard to spot on ULQ due pixelating, not true. If you have high end PC you get frames to spare on ULQ, therefore you can set resolution to 4K and you will see everything flawlessly (pixel wise)

ULQ gives me such an advantage in CAS, not because i can see better enemies but because even in low quality i crash, not because my plane lifts up bad, but because when i go down the game decides to load the whole map when i'm in 200m and gives me a laggspike only to comeback with "Crashed" written and 0 kills

When I played on my old Mac I had to play with UL and at times it felt like cheating.

Thank you for bringing this long standing pain point in the game, i don't trust gaijin to bring a solution to this, i also think the only proper way to deal with this severe problem is to select ULQ players to play against other ULQ players ONLY ... i don't see Gaijin doing that, so their solution as described is basically not a solution

ULQ is horrible for Air RB, the most noticeable stuff is when planes go in front of a cloud (any cloud even if its 20km behind them) they become invisible other than their name which makes it impossible to aim at them or see where theyre going

I have said for years that ulq is almost cheating. Only spotting? Killing is so much easier, enemy doesn't know about you, I played like that for a week, I even learned to shoot without scope, trough 3d Peron, but I couldn't handle the low graphics...

i have been playing ultra low for two weeks now as i had to send in my GPU for repairs and anything over ultra low would let me have a whole 8 fps :P. i had 30 fps with ultra low (using cpu) so i would not say i had a advantage. i am thankful for the option though as it saved my summer event thingy

To think I had to play ulq on my old laptop a few years ago. Watching this video made me want to throw up. I think it's the hi-poly tank moving across the low poly flat terrain. Also, watching Phly repair his tank in 20 seconds with only 2 crew members always makes me want to throw up. I have 1 crew that's almost level 150 and it's my main US fighter crew that has thousands of jet Air RB battles worth of points thrown into it. We need a phly plays on a fresh account with a top-tier premium at crew level 5 video.

If anyone complains about ulq players then they can feel free to buy me a new better pc 😁

There are at least 2 ways to fix this. 1. Over a certain player level (1..100). ULQ becomes unavailable. 2. Graphics level adapts to hardware in the pc or gaming system. If you have a faster machine and/or graphics card, ULQ becomes unavailable.

Don't forget the dead vehicle smoke. On high quality it is a black sheet you can barely see anything through. ULQ you can see through it just fine.

My first PC game was in green and black. Two colours 😂😅 I max my settings now. I always appreciate the details put into games. They have come a long way.

This is a known issue on many shooter games. If you really care about being competitive, low graphics is the way to go, if you just want to have fun and immerse yourself pump the graphics up. Anyone stating otherwise is just deluding themselves.

Request for a "Weekly Close Calls/Crazy Kills Highlight Reel" video! **BUT** Not containing stuff we saw, but just snippets from the Match Replay Recording (or whatever it's called in WT lol), where a round whizzes by you or where you fire over a cobblestone wall and manage to get the kill. So in those cases, instead of showing us at the end of the video or interrupting to show us, after that match you'd go in to you recordings and quickly grab the 4 seconds of video showing how close that round got to you, or how close your round got to that structure you shot through. This was inspired by the "AMX-50 Superbias" video where both occurred! Earlier in the video you had managed to aim just above a cobble wall that was maybe 100yrds infront of you, and took out who you were aiming at. Where even you chortled with surprise it seemed! Then coincidentally, on the one shot that whizzed by, you even said "whoa did you see that?" heh Which, I did, but would've been really cool to see it in slow-mo and see just how lucky you were. I think both would've made perfect clips worthy of a highlight reel. Better yet, since this is not simply collecting the highlights similar to the "Best Moments of ", but actually be all new, unseen content... it'd be incentive for us to watch. :) And easy enough for you since it'd just be grabbing snippets here and there after games and compiling them together without the need for much match context, or even much (if any) added commentary.

Try to play ULQ on slow HW where FPS is terribly low and game is lagging :D Also what makes big difference is having premium and full trained crew. When I see your repire times I am always jelous :)

One thing bothers me more than anything. The grass. players shouldn't be able to remove them completely. There should be at least around their tanks. Removeing the grass completely gives players a huge advantage when firing from hills, they could leave a setting to control de range at which the grass renders, but should not let people remove it completely. Just by seeing a small grass close to their vehicles would make everyone expose the same on elevations.

Ulq helped me alot to learn when i started to more understud maps and weird enough better put my shots for some reason now i play on high but without shadows on and iam doing well i think

I've never seen the dirt mounts on Alaska disappear, or had fences derender so close. Anyways, now do it at 720p with 75% resolution scale on a used 20-inch monitor.

Use this for grinding and when you got the tank pr plane you want then turn it back to 4k to enjoy

You can't say that ULQ doesn't give an advantage when a competitive player had their account banned by gaijen for hacking, because he was playing on ULQ and the reviewer was watching on medium setting. The player saw someone through the snow layer and shot through the snow layer, and the reviewer said that was hacking because there was no way the player could see him... Unless he had ULQ enabled.

I remember back in the early days when WT had this with lower settings. I could never figure out how other players could see me in cover. I recently dropped down to low quality by mistake and noticed no foliage. Why is this even a thing again?

I do play in ULQ graphic, yet i miss the good old times playing War Thunder in medium graphic. Got forced playing on ULQ graphic since my laptop starts aging and now cant play War Thunder in medium graphic. Even though i play in ULQ, fps still being a crap at all sudden drops into 10 or 5 fps. Really miss the good old times :[

You made a video like this a while ago. Whenever that was and I watched thinking Well, I'll give it a try and then was too lazy to change them again. But it's an advantage for sure.
