when you were asking how to pronounce maserati, it was the second one in italy we say it that way, but in the end, it anyhow doesn’t matter, because everyone will understand
He seemed kinda low energy in this one, not a problem or anything to be ashamed of. But if the guy ever needs some time off to bounce back from something then by all means he deserves it. Mental health is very important
Hey is Yuri feelin alright? He seemed kinda low energy in this one, not a problem or anything to be ashamed of. But if the guy ever needs some time off to bounce back from something then by all means he deserves it. Mental health is very important and your fans care about yall either way. Love the S class and love the review
@@damilolaakanni I would agree, but he hasn't liked a lot of cars on the channel! His energy and body language point to something deeper than just the car, but thats coming from a complete stranger so who knows. Just hoping he is alright
Dont know why everyone keep saying 70 year old. That stigma is not tru anymore. Alot of young people buy these sclass trust me. Its crazy how i see old people buying m2 and cla45
Just picked one (s580 4matic) up last night, it’s absolutely beautiful. I haven’t had a chance to drive it yet but hopefully today when I get home from work. 2019- Model x100d 2020- GT63S 2021- RR HST Sport 2022-s580 Life is insanely good. May you all have a blessed day/year/life…
I really love the W221 S class. The 222 is great but it started the all mercedes look the same trend. The W221 with that generation E class was peak for me! 😘
Mercedes styling should be Mercedes styling. Not Tesla styling. As usual it will drive brilliantly but it never hurts to have a mixture of buttons and screens. The previous gen LCI screen setup was damn near perfect.
@@user-jq3gr4yd2v Yeah. My favorite S Class will forever be a final year 1999 W140 S500 Grand Edition. If I could find one in black on cream leather I would be one happy man. Those cars had presence, distinct styling and while it had modern features for the time they weren't overly gizmoed. This new trend of slapped on screens and shiny tacky wood trim needs to go away fast.
@@modaoz9987He Is right, the previous model W222 S class has that as well and the '18 E450 too. Cringe slang btw, cap means kill. The word you're looking for Is bullshit.
Yea a ton of cars get free passes on a lot of channels and people gang up on certain brands to pick the low hanging fruits, but these guys stay honest while still trying to respect. You can tell Yuri doesn’t like this car but you don’t need to take a dump on the brand to ruin relationships.
Exactly! The New S Class is extremely underwhelming. This is a brand that says it’s the best or nothing, so that’s what a lot of people expect. However that’s not always the case, so I appreciate the honesty and not just trying to appease fans of the brand.
These things are getting more and more overwhelming, I think they should offer a classic or simplicity edition with analog gauges, climate, and a basic screen with a very in clean sound system. No old person is going to enjoy when they can’t figure out how to do the simplest task over and over again, tech luxury and classic luxury should be 2 models. You shouldn’t need to go to a Rolls for analog. Think Lexus LS430..That’s as much tech as retired person would be comfortable with IMO.
I kinda wonder why they didn't mention the LS 500 as a competitor to this. It's what most of the target audience would go for because it doesn't have so much tech that would confuse the owner or the driver. And it looks much better than this car.
3:43 agree that the old one looked much better, but to be fair the previous gen you reviewed had the AMG exterior package while the current one you are reviewing doesn’t.
That interior is really cool, and yeah, the exterior looks more "sleek", but damn, the previous gen version was SO much classier and felt more badass and stately, inside and out!
@@nicholassmith7048 True, but in other reviews he's excited to review the vehicle, but not in this case. He's just going through the motions. Jakob was into the car.
I'm with team Yuri on this. The S Class is the ultimate disposable luxury sedan that I think is only getting more tacky and cheaper. I don't view touch screens and haptic systems as high end, I view them as ways of circumventing the added expense of physical controls. The UX of a touch screen will never be a good idea as long as vehicles are not able to fully self drive. You'd think the flagship luxury sedan would be able to understand voice as well as an Apple or Android device, which would save the touch screen but no, still predictably behind.
Capacitive touch buttons are the absolute worst trend in car interior design. They always suck. It doesn't matter if it's a TV, game console, kitchen gadget or a car. And it takes about 3 seconds of use before they look disgusting. Modern car interiors seem like an arms race for who can make the fanciest looking shit that doesn't work. Putting them on the steering wheel right next to your hands is beyond idiotic.
Looks like 2020 has marked an end of an era. As a car guy I can't get over how many manufacturers are going thru this trend of adding hybrid systems and digital everything. Most of these features, if they still work, will look and feel so outdated in the future and it just won't seem 'classic' or 'timeless'. A good example of this is the Sat Nav from any mid 2000's car.
some of it's legit criticism but he's also becoming a bit of an elitist with these cars. 2 years ago he would have thought the S class was dope but now it's just "base".
you’re crazy bro. a big body bentley and rolls would shit on this. huge bezeled screens with shit reliability does not mean the best sedan ever made lmfao. a flying spur would run this over. don’t even think about comparing it to a phantom.
@@VelocitronVoyager you're beyond crazy. S class blows rr and bentley out of the water. And Maybach version blows them out of the water even more They aren't huge bezels at all. They're gorgeous oled screens Mercedes is light years ahead of bentley and rr combined in technology and reliability it's not even close. That's why Mercedes is one of if not the most valuable car company in the world Phantom and flying spur are overpriced pos S class eats them for breakfast especially Maybach version
@@eventusvantos2770 lmao keep dreaming. a mercedes could never blend classic with modern as good as a bentley. have you ever even sat inside a flying spur? or a continental gt? a rolls is pure luxury without shoving technology in your face while bentley manages to have the best interiors on the market mixed with intricate touches and good tech. there’s a reason rolls and bentley are considered tier 1. maybach is a glorified upper trim level s class. nothing wrong with it. but it definitely can’t match tier 1 british cars. especially with reliability. rolls royces don’t break down as often as S classes. all of this came from a guy who hates rr by the way. i hate their interiors but please don’t say an s class with 2 giant screens is a match for the flying spur or the phantom
I feel like I don't remember videos where you all did as much close up/macro video shots. Really enjoyed those in this video guys! They were well placed to show the finer textures in this vehicle.
2 minutes into video is all that it took for you guys to experience what I showed to some dude in a yellow C6 on the 101 in 2011: the S-Class can hustle through the twisties a lot faster than you thought it could. The Best or Nothing; for sure.
To me, this is a real step down for Mercedes! Too much cheap plastic. All those touch capacitive buttons are not going to work well for long! And the car has no distinct style. It looks too much like the new E and C Class cars! Not ugly. But not special anymore. :(
As I watched you pop out the door handles, it occurred to me that they may get stuck in the winter. Have you experienced this with any other similar door handles?
@@DoctorSkillz .. I call BS. . You think MB development hadn't account for environmental interaction with door handles? . And the trunk, and the sunroof? .. Nonsense. . Its not rocket science "door handle operation" engineering. . Cheers, Vail, Colorado
@@michaelschneider- No, they definitely did not. This vehicle is designed to last for up to five years in a garage. Their engineers definitely did not think of the third owner who picked it up for $20K to be parked in the apartment lot where snow and ice will cause the door handles to malfunction. You're naive in your trust of MB's engineers.
@@DoctorSkillz u make like rich ppl don’t have luxury ski houses and other cars already in the garage and have 2 left out, Not every rich person with a new one of these lives in California 😭
I've noticed that most RU-vid car review channels always keep out the lexus LS when comparing luxury cars which always wins years later down the road for reliability and resale value.
The most awaited review! The S class.considering the looks, the previous gen S class was sensational but this is just Downgrade in terms of looks but not in technology and talking about the 7 series, the next gen 7 series is just a complete dumb and Only option left is Audi A8.. Waiting for New C class review!
Is someone who has owned three older Mercedes I will never buy another mercedes. And even seeing how they are using cheaper and cheaper materials even proves my point
Man. Reading the comments and Yuri's insta.. if this was Doug not enjoying this car, everyone would be calling it crap and talking about how bad it is. Let someone not enjoy something. We all have our opinions. 🤷♂️
Losing customisation options for the driver's screen is a negative for me. I really like being able to pick what information I see and not just be limited to presets.
Seems like the all digital dash and haptic touch are going to be trends in the near future. Being that it's a luxo barge they can get away with it I guess. The new Golf mk8 has all touch controls as well and the community hates it with a passion. The new S class even has the reflector nub near the wheel well which looks out of place for this vehicle. Agree with the seat buttons, It looks so cheap. The S class is about the refinement in the details.
I feel like this generation is a small misstep and the mid-model refresh will be a return of form. Only in design though, the technology and luxury is top notch like always.
I find it really hard to believe than an audi a8's interior is on par with other mentioned cars this is supposed to be a competitor to. Maserati, BMW, Lexus, Caddy, they do make interiors of sufficient quality and prestiege, but I don't believe audi makes interiors posh enough. they might be of comparable quality, but not prestige
I'm with Jakub on this one. Exterior aside, it's a fantastic car. Y'all should dress the part. I'd love you guys to match your outfits to your cars. That would be a fun additions to your reviews.
Very beautiful car inside and out. Unfortunately, you made the review of this car too boring by unfairly criticising the looks. It looks better than the competitors you pointed out and even the previous generation in my opinion. This is one of the best looking generation they've ever produced.
+1. Take a stroll around NYC and every other car is either a Yellow Cab or an S-Class. . The S-Class has a presumptive prestige aura developed decades ago. . The circle will be unbroken as the saying goes .... BMW & Audi can pound salt.
My third s class. The exterior design looks much better in person. The ride and drive are both improved. The dual screen layout is a step backwards for this series both aesthetically and in functionality . The center touch touch screen takes your eye off of the road to operate while you search for a menu or try something as simple changing the radio channel. It also takes away from the comfort experience because the ergonomics of the touchscreen are just far enough away from the user to make the driver move his driving position to operate it. The center console takes away the armrest for your forearm as well as reduces the cup holders size. The touch screen stays covered in fingerprints and the fingerprint id is an extra step that gets annoying on a daily basis. The touch screen is also hard to see at times with the suns reflections. The new air vents sit high and away from the driver and cause a distracting reflection on the windshield. The ride, drive, and seats are outstanding , but the electronics make it very frustrating to operate.
+1 .. Nobody does S-Class level better than Mercedes. . As a big Audi fan I must say Audi AG should cut their losses and disco the A8/S8 range. . And I luv the S8 model. . As for the BMW 7 series,, the same applies, plus the '22 7 series front fascia looks like shit. . Again, there is only one S-Class seat,,, and Merc is sitting in it. . Cheers, Vail, Colorado
I really like the new S Class but I just tested the 2022 LS500, and that the g is amazing, it's so quiet and comfortable, I just can't say enough about it, I absolutely loved it
Bet you $5 in the future your choice of that years iPad or Samsung will be an option on these cars….but some people will try to be cheap and use the one they already have.
It would drive me nuts to be that rich and have a brake pedal that was so uneven... Having been a programmer, the lack of quality control on all of these screens would infuriate me too.
I don't know why I think it's so funny, but the auto-generated captions start with "i'm jacob i'm miriam we're going for a drive" and I'm *cackling* 😂😂
Thats the new generation with all their fancy electronics for you. They need a new standard now, torque vectoring & rear wheel steering are becoming mainstream.
The A8L instrument panel makes this thing look like a cheap toy. I cannot stand that Mercedes thinks this tacked on iPad dash layout is acceptable at this price point. The new IP on the SL is an improvement.
finally someone said it , it feels like they remembered the instrument panel at the last minute , so as a solution just slap an iPad on the dash and call it a day . even the infotainment doesn't look good , the whole general look of this car is just meh and passable nothing crazy . but since it has the Mercedes logo on it everyone will praise it , if a korean brand do that kind of design they would shit on it , even tho genesis now has much better looking interior than most german luxury brands
Luv u guys nd luv wat u doing 4 de brand.... Buh it's not kuul wen u brake suddenly in de middle of de road to prove a point..... Ur safety matter to me ,so stay on guard..... Wish u were my friend
THANK you for calling it what it is, an android tablet, NOT an iPad. FINALLY people call stuff what it is. No I'm not saying android tablets are bad (Samsung ones are actually really good lol) But it annoys me that people call every big screen device an ipad
