I look forward to following your progress, it’s a truly epic day/night out! I was going to add my advice but you pretty much summed it up yourself at the end. It’s all about pacing, fuelling and looking after yourself! Enjoy…
@@timeonfeet I’m sure you’ll do really well mate. I recced the whole route prior to the event, but having to do the snowdon vk with over 40 miles in the legs was something else. My biggest takeaway was to really go easy on the decents as runnable decents with smashed quads will take age’s otherwise. I live in the Cotswolds and have 300m hills to practice on, but nothing as technical as snowdonia, I pushed to hard in the beginning of the race and really suffered in the second half.
@@alexdoherty1984 Thanks mate, I've heard that's the key, going so much easier on the descents than you think you need too early on. Will try not to get carried away! It's the same where I live, we've got hills but just nothing compared to the continuous climbs in the mountains!
Wow. God's country indeed! It looks stunning and I'm sure it will be on the day. Have you thought about frameless sunglasses? I think I remember Seth deMoor talking about how they help with rocky, mountain runs and your line of sight.
It was amazing Ian, really special place to 'run'! I haven't heard about frameless sunglasses before but will check them out. I heard that clear lenses are good if it's not sunny if the weather turns so may see if I can get some of them too
Absolutely blown away by your dedication and the raw beauty of Snowdonia you've captured here, Ben! And the lesson on taking it easy early on is gold, especially for us who might forget in the excitement of it all, hehe. Can’t wait to see how you tackle the UTS with all these insights. Keep pushing the limits and sharing your journey; it’s a wild ride we’re all here for!
Thanks Mihai, it'll be interesting to try out a mountain race, I've heard they're very different so hoping to play it cautious and get to the end, that's the goal!
The views are absolutely stunning, but the terrain does look rather challenging! Great shout to familiarise yourself with parts of the course in advance, you'll be able to put together a more solid race plan knowing what you know now!
It's a great place to visit Chloe, really enjoyed it there, so different to what I'm normally running on! I'm really glad we've seen what the terrain is like otherwise it could be a bit of a shock come race day 😀
I’m running the 55k UTS in May and am going to recce the route in two weeks so this was a great video to see some of the part I won’t be doing then. Thanks and good luck with the 100k!
Absolutely epic stuff Ben! Running in the mountains certainly is a different ball game. You can't make time back in the downhills like you can running on the downs. It's a real challenge. I look forward to seeing how you get on in the UTS mate it's going to be an amazing race! 😎🤘
Cheers Ben, certainly is. Was really good to be able to get out there and see what it's actually like, stunning but tough going! Looking forward to getting out there again for the race 😃 thanks for watching
Superb coverage of the race setting. Although there's no way we'd even think about running on that we can appreciate the beauty of the experience. Another spiritual experience on its way, hopefully?
I imagine there'll be plenty of time for more spiritual experiences out there 😀 there's a 36 hour cutoff for the race so could a long day (and night) out on the trails!
I wish it was still August with the rain and mud we've been having down this way 😅 Cheers Martin, stunning place Snowdonia, looking forward to getting back out there soon
I thought they were pretty nifty and good if you're rubbish with a map. Oh nice, I may seem them there. Do you know which option they've signed up for?
Wow wow wow wow wow!!! Absolutely stunning but my goodness yes some of those trails look positively treacherous!!! I must say that with a lot more experience and more endurance fitness I notice that I do trip over less often thank goodness , ‘cause it’s a horrible feeling!! Btw Ben have you seen Chris Branch’s videos on Snowdonia?? They really made me wanna do it one day myself!! 🙋🏻♀️
Thanks Bev, it was pretty spectacular out there, such a special place to explore. Yes I've see Chris Branch's videos, really well put together and very useful on the UTS side of things
Looks amazing Ben, and can't wait to get out there. Have just pulled out of SDW50, as I have a slight knee issue... Might get in touch re your coaching? When does that finish?
It's amazing out there, looking forward to heading onto those trails again for the race! Sorry to hear about the knee issue, hope it gets sorted soon 👍 Drop me a line for sure re the coaching, I should be doing the exam around May and then getting set up by the summer
