5:07 so idk if you knew that but the ultrakill devteam is literally working on a code overhaul update right now. and meanwile the non-coder ppl are making a graphics overhaul for prelude and act 1. You should check the code again once the update comes out :3
Man the editing and effects on this video are sickkk. I'm sad I kept ignoring it in my feed because I thought it was one of those gameplay videos for ultrakill. The only reason I'm watching it now is because I got sick of this video showing up and was about to hide it until I saw who it was made by lol

As a uni student in game dev it's like watching my classmate's presentation. Good luck with the semesters! Your skills in editing, video production, game design and programming are already like 10x times better than me lol. You'll go far, trust me.

I think you should go farther away from ULTRAKILL add some stuff remove some stuff. The name is amazing tho. I would love to see this game in a finished state.
on the gun type script and such: my preferred way of implementing modular design in my games is by stealing class structures and even specific functions from the 1993 Doom. I make sure to adapt the code to my game and engine, of course, but I've found that using John Carmack's code as a base/reference for mine has made the process of setting up a game's framework and core design not only 100x easier but also really fun! (that could just be because i'm autistically in love with John Carmack's code, tho)

Oh Yeah... I think all-in-all this took about 6 months But I Certainly could've done it a lot quicker if not for lots of interruptions for things like College
Damn that was GOOD! (both the animation and the game!) Doubt you'll read this, but here's my take on the Pray part of the game: -Implement a "Devotion" meter -Killing enemies (sinners) will fill the meter up (you are cleansing them of their sins) -the meter could slowly drain (probably should) This would allow for special moves. For example: -The player prays using their hands and glowing yellow crosses appear in the air (a bit like the ones showing the the album covers for Ultrakill's 2 acts but with a halo around the part that the 2 pieces kaming the cross intersect) striking down towards the ground -The crosses appear around the player and fly towards wherever they're looking (without praying?). Would be really cool if it could also happened while they're dashing backwards (especially for promotional art! Character in the air, surrounded by the crosses and an enemy from the ground tries to reach out) -General Buffs (Blessings). Imbue your weapons with the holy attribute or smth (more damage? DOT because the sinners burn?), gain a shield (Faith Protects.), etc. Damn this concept got me motivated! Can't wait for another upload!
These are some pretty cool ideas My main idea for the gameplay was more like: - killing enemies could fill up some kind of Sin Meter - more sins = more damage / faster / bloodlust etc... but also makes the game harder in some ways - maybe too many sins results in you going to hell or something - you can pray to remove sins for some kind of other benefit, but none of the ones gained by having sins haven't put too much thought into it, but I'll take this into account

This feels like more of like an AimTrainer version of ULTRAKILL ngl. If you added original models and original sound effects and stuff and add more unique mechanics it would be pretty cool though. 👍
