Star Flight TX 1000 Ultralight Barn Find. Showing the transformation from collecting dust in a neighbors barn to the first flights after bringing it back to airworthy condition.
I bet the star flight has been out longer than the quicksilvers looks like they used this to make them. I'm fixing up an MX Sport now... And My wingspan is only 28' but the sports have shorter wings. I have some info about the TX: Starflight - TX-1000 The TX-1000 is a high wing pusher monoplane with conventional three- axis controls and tricycle landing gear. A side mounted stick control elevator and spoilers, while rudder pedals actuate the rudder and steerable nosewheel. The airframe is constructed of bolted together aluminum tubing and interconnecting stainless steel cable. The wing is a basic ladder type frame, while the tail surfaces are frames of tubing. The engine is mounted beneath the wing center section, driving a pusher prop via a shaft and reduction drive. A pyramidal aluminum tubing frame contains the pilot's seat, with the landing gear at its base. A kingpost carries the landing cables supporting negative g-loads. The flying surfaces are covered in 5.3 oz. stabilized dacron sailcloth, the wings being doubled surfaced 30% back from the leading edge. The TX-1000 has a 2-inch diameter leading edge, 1/2-inch trailing edge and tail boom tubes, and 1-inch diameter, heavy wall compression struts. Stain- less steel bushings and aluminum vibration insulators are used throughout, as are aircraft bolts, hardware and rigging. All exposed airframe tubing is coated with a bonded black epoxy, baked to a gloss finish. The flight handling characteristics of the TX-1000 are described as respon- sive yet forgiving, by the factory. The wing has a 5º dihedral, and allows the air vehicle to be flown hands-off with an occasional touch of the rudder.

Does anybody’s Starflight TX 1000 have 2 tubes, one on each side of front of seat , going up to main tube? My friends does, and his stick hits it when moved to forward position , especially on left turns with spoilerons. I haven’t seen any other TX1000 with them. My guess is previous owner was heavy, and flexed the bottom tubes too much, so installed these. They’re the same black epoxy coated tubes as the rest though.
You say “the fabric is in good shape”. Appearance is one thing, but have you ‘tested’ the fabric with a fabric tester?? A friend of mine died in a similar situation, where the fabric looked good, but peeled off one wing in flight.
I couldn't agree more. My a and p mechanic that works on my pacer stop by and looked at it for us just to be sure.... My a and p and other a and p friends don't like to punch fabric much. They tell me you can learn more about it by visually inspecting it everywhere, touching it, and pressing on it with your fingers in spots.
