Yeah they’re really bloody good and the twist mechanism is surprisingly strong, was a little concerned about using them for my tent but they’re solid as a rock
I'm considering getting a Katabatic Alsek quilt but it's quite expensive importing it to Europe so I'm considering getting the Taiga quilt from Cumulus instead. What modifications have you made to your quilt and are you happy with it? What's your comfort temp using it? Would you buy a different quilt if you had the choice?
I originally wanted a katabatic palisade but as you say the price and import it nuts. I’m really happy with my Cumulus. My customisation was just the colour-scheme and I upped the down to 900 fill. I’ve been comfy in it done to 0 and a little bit beyond. I do use a silly thin foam mat tho. You’d be much warmer still with something like a neo air Thing I’d change is have it wider. I think if I bought again I’d buy the open quilt version with the zipper footbox. Hope this helps. Overalll it’s an amazing quilt
Nice video! I'm considering purchasing an Atom+ 40L. Was it difficult to mount your Peak Designs Capture Clip over the Lycra pocket? It's hard to tell in the video exactly how you did it. I'm trying to decide if I should delete it for a full daisy chain. Is there a daisy chain behind the Lycra pocket?
Hi, thanks for checking out the video. Yeah it was a bit of a pain with the pocket there. I got my 30L without a pocket for just that reason. There’s no Daisy chain as standard no. There is However webbing behind the pocket but it’s there for the sternum strap to adjust up and down on. My capture clip now is actually on the full shoulder strap itself. I didn’t like the movement it had when hair on the webbing. It feels much more secure now. Honestly it can’t go wrong with Atom Packs. I own the 40L atom + and a 30L atom now. Couldn’t be happier with them. Hope this helps ✌️ Ben.
Hello, it’s not that I didn’t like them. I tend to not really hike with poles much but need them as they are essential for putting up my tent on a night. I switched to Gossamer Gear LT5 because they’re the lightest pair I could find and just made sense to get them as 90% of the time they’re strapped to my bag. 👍
No i didn’t take any spare clothes just the socks forgot to put in but added at the end. I just used the clothes I was wearing. Honestly it was so hot on a night i didn’t sleep in any clothes. Haha you’re the first one to mention filter 🤙. I was hiking with my friend and we used he chemically treated our water. Thanks for watching Dave. You can see all the gear in my Yorkshire Wolds way video ✌️ Ben.
@@BenjaminWilcock Yeah I like that mindfulness Ben about packing. I've just uploaded a video about using a brolly. I've used one for a while-check it out if you have the time. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-RQQ9QRb_u2w.html Peace!
nice pack explosion.. how's the sarek mat like for r value/comfort.. pretty sure it was ken's design/find (i like him he's a funny guy) but some of his clobber is steep. didn't realise nd filters were soo heavy.. better of using your shades ;)
Hey dude, yeah the Sarek pads not bad I’ve managed to sleep fine in it. I’ve cut mine down to torso length as well. The R value is only about 1 I think. Yeah I got it from Ken, wish done if his shelters where cheaper as well ahha. Yeah I think it’s Cos my ND is a variable ND. It has that twist function where it gets darker or lighter. So a bit heavier than a standard filter. Cheers for checking out the vid 🤙
