Great video! Could you provide a link to the down jacket you recommended? I found one on the Decathlon website but I'm not sure it's the right one (RU-vid won't let me share the link). Thanks!
@@mikethepickypicker8011 that should be it. I’ve seen it as that and as the trek 100 lol. As long as it’s the down filled one it’s the same! And I would size up, it’s an athletic fit.
Do you think an active mid-layer is warm enough for camp when really cold outside? I used to always bring my R1 and really don’t use it hiking because it’s to hot but at camp it doesn’t really have the warmth when cold outside by itself. I use my hiking shirt and a windbreaker while hiking and bring a warmer mid layer when cold outside at camp. I love my R1 but I found when really cold outside I had to bring an extra mid-layer anyway. Windbreaker holds the heat in while hiking and dries out really quick. For the 3 ounces I like the windbreaker while hiking compared to the 12.5 for the R1. Never owned a Mele but anything that is a great active layer usually isn’t that warm when at camp and not active and cold. Really enjoy your content.
Thanks! That’s why I always still bring a down puffy jacket as well. I have the fleece as an option for just hanging out, but once it starts to not be enough I throw on the down jacket. Having both allows for more versatility and flexibility for different temperature ranges. Hope that helped lol.
They are just some midweight fleece baselayer pants I got from a sporting goods store for like $20! Don’t need to spend big money on base layers, just make sure they are synthetic and NOT cotton.
