Let's review the 3 main ultrasound modes, namely, A, b and M mode. We will discuss doppler in depth at a later stage. A mode (aka amplitude mode) gives us a 1 dimensional data output. B mode (aka brightness mode) allows us to create a 2 dimensional greyscale image. M mode (aka motion mode) provides us with A mode changes over time.

Not sure if the question banks are for you?
If you're here, you're likely studying for a radiology physics exam. I've spent the last few months collating past papers from multiple different countries selecting the most commonly asked questions. You'll be surprised how often questions repeat themselves!
The types of questions asked in FRCR, RANZCR AIT, ARRT, FC Rad Diag (SA), ABR qualifying Core Physics and MICR part 1 are surprisingly similar and the key concepts remain the same throughout. I've taken the most high-yield questions and answered them in video format so that I can take you through why certain answers are correct and others are not.
Happy studying,
Michael

Thanks for your wonderful video and instructions. Could I ask a question about calculation in detail? You mentioned that we could use time and velocity of calculation the location of boundary in both A and B mode. I can understand until this point. However, how can we know the speed of ultrasound in different tissue even before imaging/detecting?

What's the difference between B mode and M mode then?
@radiologytutorials
@radiologytutorials 7 месяцев назад
B mode effectively shows a ‘live’ view of the underlying anatomy. M mode displays changes in a single A line of data over time 🙂
