SONOGRAPHER | COME TO WORK WITH ME | ULTRASOUND CAREER
Hi there! Welcome to my RU-vid channel.
If you are new here, I am a Disney loving Sonographer who works in a hospital setting and also has a second job in the outpatient setting. I strive to spread ultrasound awareness and PAWSitivity!! Thank you so much for being here, if you're a returning subscriber, you know how much I appreciate you!!!!
In today's video, I bring you to work at the hospital. You will see some cases that I performed. The cases shown in today's video include renals (kidneys), lower extremity venous, and a pelvic exam. Our hospital department is in charge of doing any general ultrasound exam (anything besides echo) within the entire hospital. This includes all patients that are admitted, patients who come through the ER, patients in L&D, and outpatients that are scheduled through their doctors. We are a very busy hospital and I try to videotape as much as I can with all my videos, without violating patient privacy and hospital privacy. All videos filmed are done on down time, and no patient personal information is shown. The video is solely for educational purposes as I aim to spread ultrasound awareness and help other students aspiring to enter this field of work. I hope you find this video interesting as many have asked for how to write worksheets and how the hospital setting works. Please enjoy and let me know if there's anything else you'd like to see or know!!! Lots of tips that I think students will find helpful in this video! Thank you for being here!
If you happen to enjoy this video, I'd appreciate it if you LIKED it and SUBSCRIBE to the channel for more fun adventures! I would love to have you join the SonoGes family. Every single one of you means so much to me! As always, take care, be safe, stay PAWSitive, be KIND, and we'll see you in the next one! XOXO, Ges.

Love these real time vlogs Geselle! Love to see and learn more about this field :) theres really not much people who do this! love that you are bringing this field out there! Also thats some crazy equipement to wear ;o! just curious i noticed that sonographers really work alone, but is there really no time that you see your other coworkers? for example do you guys have a work station where you guys are all together? instead of being alone all the time?
@lolgeselle
@lolgeselle 3 года назад
Zannestyles, so glad you enjoyed the vlog. Makes me so happy to put out content you can really enjoy and learn from! I just wanna help one person out there, and I hope my channel does just that! Yes, the equipment is much needed for our protection! Hehe. And we work alone solely when scanning the patients. The departments definitely could have more than one technologist on a shift. We currently have up to 5-6 technologists on a shift. We do have an ultrasound office and a tech area where other people and technologists would be too! We are mostly alone when scanning patients. But come break time, or down time, we can all be in the office or tech area together! :) I just don't typically videotape with coworkers or other employees around. Most places will have up to 2 techs working! But a lot of places have one technologist. Just depends how big your hospital/ outpatient clinic is! I hope this answer finds you well. Thank you so much for watching and commenting!

I was about to ask this too Geselle. Thank you for explaining 💛Glad at least you DO get some form of contact with your colleagues. Stay safe and healthy love!
@lolgeselle
@lolgeselle 3 года назад
@@TrishLee yes!! The department runs smoothly with communicating with your colleagues. With no communication, it’ll be much harder to do the job. We will see our coworkers in between patients or before and after our lunches, when they come in, or leave, etc! 🥰 We also have to explain what’s been going on, what needs to be done, and anything else that needs to be communicated. Appreciate you watching and supporting! ❤️

Glad to know there is still a team building! I really like that aspect in a job :) Another hesitation i have between sonography and nursing is that i do really love to be part of a team and working closely together, i feel it helps me learn that way instead of being alone all time time if it makes sense? I mean i can be alone but i just want to be sure im doing things right? I feel like it will create a lot of doubts in my head thinking if im doing it right or so on. Idk maybe i just need some type or reassurance or something ahah🤣 or maybe im just the type of person thats really nervous and just want to be assertive and make sure what im doing is 1000% correct. I feel like if im also able to see my teammates do their work i can observe their way of working and it can help me too.
@lolgeselle
@lolgeselle 3 года назад
@@zannestyles3871 your ultrasound department will be your teammates. You’ll most likely need to find a place then with multiple technologists and not work in an outpatient clinic or small hospital where you’re by yourself as a tech lol. I promise you the field is scary but they will teach you how to be confident in making decisions. You’re dealing with lives here, even as a nurse, people can’t always tell you what to do in situations. But I get what you mean with wanting to have reassurance. As you find a career though, you will learn how to be more confident in the things you do. 🥰

Love this video. 🤍 Thank you for showing the ins and outs of hospital sonography. Question. Why is the IVC and Aorta included in a renal exam?
@lolgeselle
@lolgeselle 3 года назад
Thank you!!! Appreciate you watching! In outpatient, I know some places do not include the IVC/Aorta. But at our hospital, we include IVC and Aorta because they are the retroperitoneal vessels that connect to the kidneys and we make sure they’re patent and don’t have any abnormalities like thrombus, calcification, or aneurysm. The hospital does a full check. Hope this helps 🥰 remember every location/ place of work protocols will be slightly different!
