Ultravox - Astradyne (Live) 

With the exception of theme for great cities this has to be one of the best instrumentals there ever been written

Amazingly 40+ years old. Still irresistably fresh and even live is arranged remarkably close to the album version to the extent that as it finishes, I'm expecting it to run into New Europeans! Great stuff as ever.

A very self-confident start to an album from 1980 ... You have to come up with this idea first, to start an album with a 7-minute instrumental ... outstanding 🥰

I was there for this! The best collection of musicians ever assembled, bar none.

Ultravox, I discovered you in my second youth and Astradyne is my favorite.

Better live than the album which is absolutely amazing. Saw them twice live and they were still the bes concerts I have seen to date.

Years ago on RU-vid, someone paired this with the journey to the moon scene from 2001. It was like it was written for that movie. Both masterpieces.

First saw them do that track at Lincoln Drill Hall in 1980! It's still as amazing and the hairs stood on my neck again when Billy did his solo. Thanks for posting it.

As far as I'm aware Ultravox never toured Australia, Midge did tour either just before or just after Band-Aid. I didn't go, hoping that Ultravox would make it here. I finally saw Midge when he toured in 2019, his show was one of the last before we got locked down due to Covid.
