Timurid architecture is one of my favourites. Particularly the calligraphic glazed brickwork (Banna'i/Hazarbaf). It makes the exteriors so much more brilliant, and far less monotonous/boring than the plain and monochrome exteriors of other architectural styles. And the interior decoration of Amir Temur's mausoleum is another major triumph of architecture. Inspiring the stunning interior of the later Tilya-Kori madrasa. The one aspect I don't like are the domes, which are fairly small and have straight sides/long necks(like mamluk ones), instead of being more rounded and bulbous. I wish they'd copied and improved upon the immense dome of Oljaitu's Sultaniyeh(largest dome in Asia till Gol Gumbaz) Or built more aesthetic Safavid and Mughal style domes instead. Giving the perfect combination. (It could also be said that just blue glazing can get monotonous, so perhaps they could've used some other colours sometimes.)
Bruhh... do you ever heard one of Ulugh Beg's student, Ali Qushji? He established library in Istanbul and served under sultan Mehmed ii Do you ever heard Sultan Mehmed ii of Ottoman Empire? He is also a scholar by establishing the library and Renaissance period
Nice video. Shame the Timurid renaissance didn’t last longer as scientific discoveries could have made up for all of the, uhh stuff, that Timur did. Can you make a video about Sher Shah Suri aka Farid Khan. I think he’s very underrated. Sultanate of Aceh and the Ghaznavid Empire could also be ideas.
While astrology is a pseudoscience, it has had a very real influence on history. If an Emperor believes his astrologer and makes policy decisions based on astrological concepts, then it warrants being studied, not for what it pretends to be, but rather academically for what it actually was. Brushing it aside wholesale leaves you with a glaring blindspot in your understanding of history.
>Makes a video about an astronomer > uses the words Astronomy and astrology interchangeably Jks it’s a good video but that’s such a glaring error. Idk how you didn’t spot that
