Eydin Hansen does a video air gun shooting review of the .22 caliber Umarex Origin air rifle new in 2020 that just started shipping in July 2020. Off camera he shoots a few different grain weights before settling on a 17.9 grain H&N pellets to do the video gun review with. Just received my new Origin in the mail the other day, was super exited! Pretty upset to find that it absolutely will not pump up. I don’t have a compressor or a scuba tank to try. Pretty discouraging for my first air gun experience. Could use some advice

The accoutrements look the same, and are in the same place as the Seneca Aspen, so the Nova Freedom too. I've got one of those fine Aspens, so I'll review some of your Umarex Origin, Ha. The safety is in the right place, easy to reach and silent if moved slowly. The trigger is Fantastic set at 2 lbs. The side lever is quick, fairly quiet, and easy. Just be sure to move it all the way back, and forward. The nanometer is easy enough to read and is at the right place, as you mentioned. 5: 39, so when heading out hunting, seems best to shoot that first shot.

Got some JSB 18.13s in yesterday... tightened the group up. Low 797 fps high 817 starting from 3,000 psi. Woohoo!

ghostsniper958 got it last week, it’s built pretty solid. Accurate and has enough punch. I used the pump 1 time but I’m lazy so I bought an air compressor instead. It is a little loud in my backyard shooting it.

@@ghostsniper958 was loud first few mags, quieted down after that.pump broke after 3 days, and umarex doesnt give any instruction on a rebuild. Its not like the other chinese pumps, cant get the outer sleeve off at all. gun itself is a tack drive. stacking shots at 45 yards easily with jsb 18,13s

As the air pressure decreases the pellet velocity increases? I was thinking more air pressure would make more velocity... thanks for explaining the valve function, I never knew that the air pressure worked that way, very cool video. I am 51 years old, been shooting airguns all my life and just learned something new.

Thank you for watching. High pressure valves have a "sweet spot" where they operate at optimum speeds to release just that right amount of air for a particular pellet. Your sweet spot can change depending on different factors such as altitude and pellet weight for example.

To bad the 100 pump fill isnt even close for the claimed pumps needed to fill the tank. Takes more like 300 to reach 3200 psi on the gauge. and you better expect 30 to 45 min to fill it after you have shot a tank or 2, the amount of heat the pump produces takes about 10 min to clool off again to make another 50 pumps. And there 40 shot claim isnt close either from factory best ive gotten os 32 shots and gauge us in the red again for air.

I couldnt handle it anymore. i bought a elc. pump for it. Just sighting it in and shooting around i spent more of the day pumping it and not enough shooting it. Also i have upgraded guns since then and thats made me feel alot better about owning them. @@johnswazey3443

Just came from the range, literally an hour ago Wed. 8/5, video will go to edit soon... JSB 18.13 grouped better than you see in this video. 10 shots starting from 3,000 psi. Low 797 fps. High 817 fps. Approx. 26.5 ft. lbs. Tried a 14.66 grain, but group opened up with a low 870 and high of 896, again from 3000 psi. 😀. Thanks for your patience, Josh!

The rifle is junk.Don't waist your money. It jammed in the video and didn't group well for a pcp.under powered too. Benjamin crosman and Hatsan pcp air rifles are way better options. Umarex just shows and tells what they want you to hear.They skunked their self in this video tho. Benjamin and hatsan are way more accurate and underrated. Just letting you know so you don't waist your money!

It's almost as loud, pretty close, to a pellet striking a steel plate. We deem it "backyard" friendly where legal.

I have the Avenger 25 caliber with the same magazine and the first pellet was a flier until I noticed that the first hole didn't open enough to feed the pellet in cousing damage to the Skirt so now I feed the first pellet in from the bottom and that stopped the flier

@@mackhomie6 give it a try I love mine now that I am learning the right reg pressure settings for the different pellets but I had to send it in for repairs to the side lever leakage it became lose and sloppy not staying closed even though this happened I have already ordered a .22 caliber for my 11 year old daughter

@@mackhomie6 I understand I like the punch of the 25 but I'm finding out that the pellets are expensive and the heavy ones are harder to keep accurate I was told by Air Venturi technician that because of the length of the pellet when you load it ,,,it get pushed into the barrel to far where the rifling begins so I am staying with the 25 grain to 28 and they are doing good. I ordered the 22 for my daughter because it has the same distance with better pellet options and accuracy with the longer shot but it depends on what you want to do with it. May I recommend that you watch Steve ar AEAC Vlog on RU-vid he did a complete review on the 22 with a complete break down of speeds and pellets. I hope that this information helps I'm new to airguns 3 months now but I research on watch as many videos as I can. I will be doing some of my own videos as a newbie and share what I find out cost and anything. Good luck with your choice they both are good airguns

I just hate when I advertise false velocities, I have watched several videos and no one is anywhere close to 1025 FPS. Did they do to test with plastic pellets or something?

The higher velocities are with alloy pellets, lead pellets will be slower.

I bought mine from academy and I have been trying to pump it up but the pump isn't working right. The up stroke isn't all the way up. Pumping is extremely difficult. Any ideas?

Had the same problem with mine. It comes with a little repair kit in the box, as well as the manual. Go in the manual to the section about common pump problems and follow the little pictures about replacing the o rings for “pump won’t rise” or something to that effect. Had the exact same issue on mine, turns out they had like packed the inside of the pump with grease and it had warped the o rings, or at least that’s my best guess. Replaced the three little parts it said to with the kit it came with and it works fine now.

What industry is like airguns? If it didn't cost $700, you're going to take it apart and work on it. And have seal problems. The opposite of many other indudtries; drills, motorcycles, lawn mowers, etc. We're far too easy of a mark. Most of the problems begin at communist red China.

Why, with the advancement of regulated pcp air, would they throw this old technology out to compete with the Avenger? I have a Gauntlet and an FX Wildcat and will never go back to the old way of diminishing return.

The rifle is worth the price, it works well. All PCP airguns aren't fun to fill with a hand pump but in a situation where you have no power or access to a fill bottle they are great like hunting camp or survival situations.

The rifle alone, bought from Umarex, is $330. With the pump, it is $380, so another $50 for the pump if bought together. But, prices are sometime a bit lower if buying from other sellers, or if catching a sale. For example, i got mine with a pump, a couple of months ago, from Academy Sports, for $329. I feel it is worth those prices.

Great launching point for a shooter... 18 grain-ish pellet. Hone it in from there. You're right, there's more pellet exploration to do. Plus, this was right out of the box less 6 mags through prior to filming to gain familiarity. 😉 Thanks for watching.

if possible to build in, a huma regulator set at the sweet spot wil solve that accuracy issue , but the shooter could do more at stability of the hold

Just got mine a couple days ago. So far, love it. Doesn't have an air splitter like the gauntlet, correct? Seems like there's a set screw in the base of the shroud as well that's next to impossible to get to without marring the stock a little. Sighted in at 25 yards. Tried some 18ish gr HN crows and the 14ish gr crosman premier HP's. Have some more variety coming to try. The groups with the crosman HP's are tighter so far.

The air Venturi avenger 300$. Regulated. 100 plus shot count in 30fpe. Configuration. Side lever cocking butter smooth. You can get high power hand pump for dirt cheap anymore. I think at this point in the game the air Venturi is the undisputed king of the 300$ price point PCP. Revolution. BUT. at this point nobody has yet come out with a complete pcp kit. Gun scope rings mounts pump pellets. And there are a couple few companies that really should stop pussy footing around and throw their hat in the ring so to speak. Crossman where are you. Are you scared😮. I think you guys are long over due to step up n put out a pcp kit.

You make some solid points. We think shooters would rather choose their own scope as opposed to getting a combo scope for a package deal of $350 or less. Won't be much in the way of glass.

The gun is decent but the pump is an absolute piece of trash I'm on my second one they're not even rebuildable for the most part I have a machinist background I have a brother with a tremendous mechanical background he looked at it and just shook his head it was so full of trash it actually stopped up the fill probe it sounds like scratching on a chalkboard I could go on and on it's bad and this is sold as a bundle to entice first time buyers Umarex you've hurt yourself with this one luckily I have another pump that works

Not impressed at all. I'll stay with my benjamin and hatsan air rifles with Chinese scopes and handpumps and shoot Pellet in pellet consistently and not waiste my money on this Piece of junk.just my honest opinion.This air rifle has flaws and shoots all over the place from what I saw.

@@UmarexAir you showed it right on the video...it shot everywhere. I wouldn't waist my money. And it's heavy too.None of my air rifles weigh over 6lbs with scope. I can out shoot that air rifle you reviewed with any of my Hatsans pelet in pellet. Review some of those

@@buckhunter6616 it's ok but hatsan and bejamin crosman have some better made options and lighter weight. Price point is good too.They don't feel heavy on your arm if you have to carry them and both mine come in at under 6lbs with a scope and both shoot Pellet in pellet witout high dollar pellets. Not pellet pickey.you can go to Wal-Mart and buy pellets for either one. I also hunt with my air rifles and either ones in 22cal will take down small pests to wild hogs and medium size deer with vital head shots!
