That’s a better rifle than I’d lend out. I lent out my beeman r9 to my brother once to shoot some rabbits. It got it back 6 months later after his basement had flooded. Rifle was completely destroyed. Great review of the origin.!

I really like the idea of having a cheaper rifle to lend out or even to use in bad weather or other situations I wouldn't want to expose my high end guns to. Great review!
From what I understand this system in this gun works similar to a regulator with a power plenum. It keeps the shots more consistent between the shots, and it will give you more max power shots. The concept is great. I really hope they continue doing things like this because as a serious air gunner, I will never buy an unregulated gun again. The inconsistency is just a mess
@@WiscAirGunners Yeah it seems like it. I wish this was released sooner. Air guns have come a long way since I first got into them, which was around the time the Gamo Urban came out.
Chrono data from a DonnyFL customer PJ: Sound tested and averaged 5 shots each (.22 cal. Premier 14.3 gr. HP), 6 ft. ahead of the muzzle, with the Sumo (91.34 dBA), no suppressor (101.5 dBA), and my oversized 25/30 cal. Tatsu (94.12 dBA). Tested the Sumo again (91.72 dBA) at 3200 psi as it was the first tested in my unregulated Origin right after a fill to 3600 psi. For comparison, 5 hard hand claps (ouch!) averaged 96 dBA at the same distance - need to understand dBA magnitudes better. Used my new BAFX3370 digital sound level meter (only $20 on Amazon!) in my closed garage. The meter seemed consistent - not much deviation within each test. Hope you're having a great holiday! Bill
Hey PJ I purchased the Origin for my first PCP, right away I bought a Air Venturi moderator adapter, it quiets down the rifle substantially, I also took the stock off and mounted a rail at the front of the stock so I could mount a bipod
For me, mine is very consistent between 1800psi-3000psi. Hammer spring turned down 1.5 turns from max. I get roughly 30 shots. Very accurate with cheap CPHP. I pest with Hades. I added an internal moderator and an external moderator, very quiet. My only complaint has to do with the pump that shipped. It broke down after about 500 shots, I couldn’t rebuild it despite following the instructions. I upgraded to a higher quality pump and have had no problems. The gun is so accurate that it’s almost boring.
I've had one for going on 9 months and 6500 trouble free shots. My Umarex hand pump gave me some trouble at first, but I have a handle on it now. Blows an Oring about every 1500 shots. I can live with that. Anything air pushing 3k+ psi is going to wear and require maintenance. Bottom line... best $300 I've ever spent. My next purchase is a Yong Heng and then a wood stock Avenger. What a time to be an airgunner. My powder burners sit lonely a lot these days.
Hay PJ, Thanks for the introductory review of the Origin. It's a solid more simple air rifle than the Avenger. A few tips that have worked for me,. Put a "little" silicone grease on the fill probe tip to prevent damage and possible leak at the fill port. Barracuda Match work great for me when tuned with the hammer spring. Plus Hajimoto makes an awesome internal stack pack to quiet it down to accepable levels without the extra length of a moderator or can be used in additon too! I put a Bugbuster compact 3-9x40AO on mine to keep it as light at possible. Great accuracy to 75 yards. Did you clean the barrel first? I had to clean mine to improve the accuracy. Much Appreciated for your time to look at an affordable budget air rifle, great job!
Thank you. I did not clean before the video. It was right out of the box. The only thing you didn't see was me hand pumping. You are right on about the silicone grease.
I just got a new one yesterday, and was wondering about some sort of lube for that fill probe. I don't see that in the manual, but seems like a good idea. So you think that would be not harmful to the gun or pump? Any particular type/brand of grease?
@@WiscAirGunners my wife and I watched the video "great American air gun challenge" u put out a while back. Haha she groaned and said..."great...there goes all my dang Q-tips!" In fairness I only shot 3. 1 at 30...50....and 85yds. That's a hard bugger to hit with a break barrel and a cheap walmart scope, but I finally got it. Id love to see more videos like that. Keep it up buddy!

30 pumps and you were up to 2000 bar, 15 pumps and you were at 1500 bar?!? Shoulda stopped at about 5 pumps LOL ( I know you meant 2000 and 1500 psi) I have a MK IV Hill and it is an outstanding pump. Gotta have that dehumidifier kit on them though.
@@WiscAirGunners No, I can't say that pumping to 250 bar is any fun. I can't imagine 2000 bar LOL I have the Hill EC 3000 for most of my use. The hand pump was just to get started with my first PCP, and it has served me well over the years. It is nice to have when we lose power and I still want to be able to shoot though, I'll say that!
Adding another comment… That hill pump must push some serious air. You got to 2k PSI from 30 pumps? Wow. I have been definitely using the wrong hand pump lol.
It is a great pump, but there is magic in the Origin. It has some sort of counter spring thing in the air tube that pushes back against what you pump in, so it takes less effort to get to shooting pressure. It's a really smart design that I think has been under appreciated.
Sorry the more I watch the more excited I get. This seems like a pretty strong choice. I’ve heard a lot of good things about it and I am so tempted. I want to see a shot string though. A full shot string. Have you done one?
Great video. Your explanation and review was very informative. I am considering the Umarex and the Gamo Arrow. If you have reviewed the Arrow which of the two would you recommend for a budget air rifle taking low noise as a very important feature I would like to have. Thanks Roger

New to Air guns for sure , i own 1 Gamo swarm whisper and now an Umerex Origin .22. love the sport and looking for affordable options. Any thoughts on this?
The Avenger is a great value. We have a video on the new Bullpup version. I've had good luck with the AEA line of PCP's but they are pretty air hungry as many are semi-auto. Set your sights on the FX Dreamline. I don't think it gets the attention it deserves and is an excellent shooting rifle.
I didn’t have it out for extended periods of time, but my son used it in Pittsburgh through the winter and mostly kept it in his car with no performance issues.

I like them around 890. You can go faster but in the rifles I've had in .25 that seemed to be wound pretty tight. If you see spiraling in windy conditions, back off the speed.
Hello, first time getting an PCP air rifle and first time finding your channel. I have seen some terrible reviews about the pump, did you have any issued with it?
Hey PJ Brad again, I'm looking for a new gun and hope you can help me. I'd really like the accuracy of say an FX Impact or a Daystate Redwolf but with a price tag more along the lines of the common working man. I really lack experience and connections in this field so I need some info.
The Avenger is the most accurate budget rifle I've had a chance to shoot. I'm working on a review of the new BullPup version. It's got a lot going for it at a budget price point. The FX Dreamline is a great rifle too. I think it is the most refined feeling (smooth cocking, sweet trigger) of their rifles with loads of adjustability and (compared to the RW and Impact) reasonable pricing. The Origin, Wood Stock Avenger and Avenger Bullpup all get a thumbs up from me as entry level, budget priced rifles. The Dreamline is my buy once, cry once recommendation.
@@WiscAirGunners big advancement lol. I had to back it up and listen twice just to make sure I heard 2000bar right. They are great guns. I love my .25cal origin. Also just uploaded a video on how i removed the up and down play in the barrels with a couple of wire ties, which was my only real gripe about the rifle.
