I'm glad we won, but kenny needs to go, this is a coaching problem, with the level of talent we have, we should not be winning by 1 point, and down double digits to umbc.....17-2 run agaisnt lville.....
Well considering Louisville started last season by losing to Bellarmine, Wright State and Appalachian State, before going on to start the season 0-9, I'd say there is at least some improvement so far.
The only thing I can say is that at least it was close because UMBC shot over 50% from 2 and 3. That being said, UL should be able to dominate teams like this on the glass. Lack of effort every time. Lots of iso plays with little team ball. Again, 7'1 and not just dunking constantly blows my mind. Get away from the 3 point line and get near the rim...
Sad to see KP waste a kid like Dennis Evans’ potential with his BS. Did people watch the last minute of that game? He does no coaching, he has no strategy. UMBC came down, trailing 90-92 and immediately found complete daylight all the way to the hoop not only from the ball handler but another player almost got in his way he was so open. He had timeouts BURN at this point with 18 seconds left in the game (that’s a lot of clock to call a good set play or at the VERY LEAST impart to your kids what the strategy should be, and he just froze on the sideline as the clearly frazzled and exhausted kid who needed that breather and inspiration drives it and tries to create himself because THAT was his impression of what gives us the best chance to win under Kenny Payne’s tutelage. It was a dumb basketball play, KP just watched it and jumped up and down, then we literally mugged the guy on the rebound out of desperation and the ball somehow ended up in the dunker’s hands. Then, what this video doesn’t show, we actually FOULED them to give them a chance at the line to win which by the grace of god they missed one. That’s HORRIBLE coaching, all very apparent, in the most crucial time of the game, in a game we WON. If this is the best we have to look forward to KP is seriously going to be wasting a lot of poor kids potential by selling him the snake oil that he can get them prepared for the NBA, because he sure as hell can not do that. He’s not cut out for this.
Who is UMBC? Looking at last year, they went 5-10 in road games, and they came as close as possible to winning at Louisville. Who did they beat last year on the road? Lehigh, Loyola Maryland, Bryant, Columbia & Binghamton...and Louisville struggled to win.
They missed a lot of those 40 as well..😕😕 Just think if they had hot the majority of them, it would've been a larger margin than a 1 point victory... But UMBC was shooting lights out from 3😀😀
@@carolcarney1022 UMBC hit 11 of 22 three pointers. To our 2. If you take away the 6pts from the 2 three's that we hit add in the 24pts from FT's, we scored 64pts in or around the paint. That's pretty good for a team this young to have an inside game like that. Kenny kept saying he wants to see the ball go into the paint twice before we take a shot, so at least they're getting into the paint. There were a few times I wished they kicked it back out but we'll get there. Our defense has to get better before Friday. Chatanooga has a kid who's lights out from the 3, Jan Zidek 6'9" 240lbs. He is their Mike James. He put up 25pts in his first game too.
I’m not a Louisville fan in the least bit but Kenny Payne went to work in the offseason and atleast got some talent from the transfer portal… The problem is the coaching… When UL hired Payne as coach I thought he was the right man for the job but I’m having trouble with the decision now… He is a great Assistant Coach but I think Head Coach is just to much for him to handle.. They won this game on the talent and experience they had on the floor and quite frankly alittle luck but a win is a win… Great Job UL
100% earned it you have to learn how to win the right way before you can just be the most talented team on the floor and that’s why you come out on top you lose to a d2 team with championship pedigree playing that way there’s alot of checkers being played in men’s ncaa basketball we’re learning chess
Thank u metawave... no way louisville should b still sufferring after what happen 7 damn yrs ago... Kenny payne is not a head coach He doesnt even recruit the state of kentucky(smh).. no excuses louisville should b RANK ever year and having sum of the best talent FIRE KP.. and get a real coach
I agree. I believe that last year we had at least enough talent to be an NIT team. We nearly beat UVA, Syracuse, Wake, and Miami (Final Four team) on the road. A true 4-28 team with no talent would not be able to keep it that close. We didn't have enough coaching to get us over the hump those games. We definitely had enough talent to avoid the bad losses to Bellarmine, App State, Wright State, Lipscomb, etc... I am glad that we won today. I feel that we would have lost this game last year, but our schedule gets far harder from here (other than maybe Coppin State), even against these weaker teams. We have to play better on Saturday to win against Chattanooga. If we play the way that we did tonight the rest of the season, Coppin State is our only other chance for a win and Texas, Miami, and Duke will beat us by 40.
@@seanholley7284 I to think trying to clear out last year's roster was to make it look like they were the prob when in reailty it's him, why we didn't try tk keep any of those guys to add in with thus year's team is beyond me, it woudve been nice to keep, Ellis, withers, curry, etc he'll even for depth
UL shot 39 freethrows, refs were tired.. Just keep betn, you will win your money back 10 fold.. I would have lost too.. Dont think it will be a good season for the cards. Maybe just slightly better than last year..
Last year Kenny "inherited" 3 of the previous teams Top 10 scorers and they were at the bottom of that list. Last year Kenny took over a program that was still under the NCAA's thumb. Last years team was last years team, and last year is over. So anybody who wants to carry that 💩 over into this year is wasting their time because that bucket holds no water. THIS team is an actual roster with Coach Payne's touch. Dennis Evans is the tallest player in UofL history and the Class he brought in was better than any we have seen since before Rick Pitino took over. This is KP's first REAL season and he's 1-0 so far with a young team that will develop as time goes on. Game by game they will improve until hopefully they're clicking at tournament time when you need them to be. Great upside for this team, lots of things to improve on and they just got more tape to study. So my advise is to kick back and enjoy the ride because it's not "bad coaching", it's silly kids who talk 💩 about things they know nothing about and represent us as "bad poser fans" on social media. Which BTW doesn't help our team in any way imaginable. Thanks and 🔥Go CARDS!🔥
Are you blind? I've been a fan my entire life, 30 years, been to most of there games in freedom hall and the yum center, will be a fan until I die, and this is 100% Kenny's fault, dude the last year team wasn't even that bad or untalented and they did TERRIBLE. ,then Kenny's dumbass gets rid of all of them to make himself look good, when in reailty we lit need some of those players right now, bc we just lost our exibitin game to a nobody and almost lost to umbc, again the team he has even now is not untalented and here we are losing and almost losing again, them going on a 17-2 run agaisnt UMBC, this is pathetic open your eyes this is coaching
So your telling me any good coach would get kenny Paynes team from last year and would do THAT bad? no, he sucks, they underperformed with him and it's clearly happening again
@@RM33-p7z this team is def better then losing the last game to nobody's and almost losing again to nobody's, we just lost to a division TWO team, that is insanity
Tre White with maybe the dumbest move ever lol. Jeez Kenny Payne shows yet again that the Calipari tree of coaching is about looks not substance. Can't be a garbage coach if you're not bringing in the types of classes other programs are. Gotta have a coach that can coach x's and o's at some point. Bring anyone else in and we'd at least look better.
Except Calipari wins. U loseville fans have nobody to blame but Ricky 15 seconds 3stacks for the mess you're in. He's a great coach but he's also a pathological liar.
Duuude, get kenny payne out of here nowww, tbis is beyond pathetic, the 2 teams that kenny has had, severly underperformed and they werent even untalanted teams, he needs to go, this is insane, a huge louisville fan, will be one until i die, but kenny needs to go
The problem is not kp. The problem is the new way of basketball. Players who can’t shoot want to take a three instead of going to the basket for a good three the hard way. They would be so much more successful if they used their physicality to their strength and won at the free throw line
Do you realize how crazy this sounds? Isn’t it KP’s job to teach fundamentals to the kids when schools like Kansas, UCONN, Villanova and Duke make it work? What you’re saying at best is that the game has passed KP by.
What I’m saying is the basketball we all grew up watching is gone and kp isn’t playing, I was at the exhibition game he told players to go to the basket but at that point it was too late they already lost momentum. Kp isn’t without blame but you can’t blame him for everything, also this a team of sophomores and freshman they don’t have enough experience to be great I think we should be more patient.
Go back to Lexington Kentucky fan. This is Louisville. We've already had two Black football HC's. One sucked and one was great. The racist stuff doesn't fly here
@@WillThomas-hs3oj I’m not reaching, Ron cooper did the same thing and he went 1-10 which is why Jurich had to pay him an extra million dollars when he fired him.
