great grand finals. probably the two best players from east coast. chris g is just too strong with this team, when his vergil gets better hes gonna be almost unbeatable. also, i think his doom is really under rated. it may not be the flashiest doom around but ive seen him make plenty of comebacks only doom left, just like he did in this set.
I agree 90% completely with you. It's only 90% because even though the morri/doom gets boring to watch, it's entertaining to see how other players adapt to challenge it. Like Champ's Dorm/Morri duo, which is amazing to watch how champ controls Dorm. I think it will make players find a lot more ways to be slick in their play.
Not only is Chris G running his toughest team on Marvel, right now, his arsenal is ever growing. Kudos to him and his difficult Morrigan playstyle, a lot of us can't do that.
she does actually. why do you think chris g is the only morrigan player to ever win majors or even make it to grand finals? people are so quick to forget that morrigan was considerd low/mid tier at best before chris g started playing her and winning with her. now all of the sudden shes god tier and broken. its not morrigan, its chris g.
Yea. I thought that too. Then you look up the tiers. From top to bottom. Examine and learn who are at the top and why. Then examine who are at the bottom and why. Also look into why some characters are even classed as "Tiny Brained Wiper"... Rest my case.
Cause the format for the tournament was double elimination, which means you can lose once (and go to losers bracket), but if you lose twice, you're eliminated. Since Chris G came from winners (hadn't lost yet) and Yipes came from losers (lost to dieminion I Think), when Yipes won the first set, he basically sent Chris G to losers, and in the last set Chris G eliminated Yipes (since it was his second loss).
He didn't actually find it, I'm pretty sure he said he copied it from someone else (Dieminion?). Anyway it's not even that he uses something effective, it's that he uses it effectively. Nobody else can Morrigan quite at the level he can. Nobody.
Damn does this want me to come back to Marvel. Every single time I give up on the game, I watch Chris G in one match,and I'm run back to the Xbox 360.I don't know how he does it,how he continues combos I can't seem to find possible! Plenty of people also get my back.I wish I was so into the community to see more of this stuff.
I've seen a tourny vid that had a spiderman player. I don't believe it was a finals match though. However, the combos were solid, and he can get some damn good mix-ups. Most seem to just go to the high-tier characters, which is boring to watch now.
Pretty much why I stopped playing UMvC3 all together. Every match is/was Spencer, Magento, or Doctor Doom rotation/mix. I had to put in good work with balanced characters, generally anyone who isn't Dr.Doom, Magneto, or Spencer only to do what? Half of their HP with a full combo that required assists. Whilst these three have really good assists, killer loops that they can solo and reset, and they have great navigation allowing them to get into positions quickly. With projectiles to boot!
Chris G is from Winner's side - he never lost. Yipes came from Loser's side - he lost one set and won the rest (Loser's Finals too) to get into the Grand Finals. The first set Yipes has to win to essentially putting Chris G into the Losers side. If Chris G won the first set against Yipes in the Grand Final, the tourney would have been over. Tourney is double elimination. Yipes lost a set earlier in the tournament. Chris G still needs to be eliminated twice.
I like seeing the morrigan fireball game it is different and and it wins too. he adapts it to his opponent too. I can't hate on him at all. He is just a genius in my point of view. No other morrigan does it like him why do people hate on the guy that is winning so much with a great tactic overall.
no people hate on chris g because they can't just mindlessly tri jump or dive kick all over the place. he forces you to think on the fly and most marvel players don't like that. brainless rushdown doesn't work and that upsets them. they just want to see flashy 100 hit combos. if you actually understand the fundamentals of fighting games chris g is pretty exciting to watch.
Why in HADES would you ever START with Frank? You need to start someone who gets hits so you can TAC into Frank and level up quickly. I use Firebrand/Frank shell with a rotating third, but I'm trying to get better with Amaterasu on anchor for team synergy. Wolvie and Firebrand and Dante can all get huge hit counters before TAC and DHC into powerup so Frank can raw tag back in to get a second picture and level to 4 or 5 in one combo around 130 hits and most likely kill the char caught in it.
@@LarryRaNelson I made that comment 9 years ago and now I feel old. Still true though. I'd you want to run Frank West then start with a character who doesn't need meter to get a high combo count, Firebrand was my favorite, then carry the enemy into the air with the combo and TAC into Frank. Keep up the combo for a few hits then knee drop to the ground and take a picture to level up to level 3. Now level 3 Frank is kind of awkward because the move that you want to use to rack up hits is the fireball forward move where he spams the plunger and pulls the enemy towards you to continue the combo. But at level 3 and 4 the plunger becomes a broom which doea mpre damage but pushes people away instead. This can ruin your combos so you do NOT want to get stuck at level 3. To prevent this, IMMEDIATELY after you take the first picture you want to do the shopping cart super to keep the enemy in the combo. Then DHC into Firebrand using Firebrand's power up super (the one where he turns white.) While the Firebrand super is happening, hold down the tag button to switch back to Frank and as soon as Frank comes in you can take a second picture. At this point the enemy will FINALLY pop out of the combo, but they are facing a level 5 Frank swinging chainsaws on boat paddles and a white super speed Firebrand in the back if you want to swap and keep Frank safe for later. It's the best way that I've found to use Frank and it was my favorite team for years.
There isn't anything wring with a broken virgil. I mean doom is pretty broken but he is still being used. Nothing wrong with using op characters. Wesker also.
With a best of three sets, the one coming from the winner bracket only has to win one set to win the tournament. If the person from losers finals wins the set, the bracket is reset for another set. The winner of that wins the tournament.
Chris didnt really want to use his Morrigan team....but Yipes insisted he do...naturally He wants to beat Chris at his best That being said...Chris is a good player with a lot of different characters...he himself doesnt want to feel like he is dependent upon the Morrigan team Thus the on going conundrum
i already watch about a hundred umvc tournament match video, but i cant find a single person playing Spiderman, man is he so broken? i mean they use m.o.d.ok, amaterasu, rocket racoon but no spidey? really....
when playing finals, the guy that comes from losers bracket has to take 3 to reset the bracket (which Yipes did). Then they FT3 again (or best of 5) to see the real winner
In all fairness everyone hates the ChrisG morrigan madness. But the fireball loops are actually hard as fuck to pull, it takes a lot of skill to actually do it. FInd the tutorial on youtube on it, it's bloody difficult.
I use Deadpool in the middle and Taskmaster as the anchor every time. I change the front from Viewtiful Joe and Frank West from time to time. I'll go back to Viewtiful Joe next time I get online for free weekend or prey I get a gold membership. I can see that Chris G isn't the fairest of players with that annoying Morrigan and Doom assist, but the combos he tries to use with the set up is pure skill I could never do.

I only have two complaints about ChrisG. 1: I don't like how salty he gets. Come on dude, you've won plenty enough, no reason to pitch a fit over loosing one or two. 2: I actually like the Morgan strat and know it's crazy hard to pull off, all props to him for knowing it so well, but it gets kinda boring to watch, which is likely why most of the people not playing complain. In the end though, he'll play what he thinks will win because he is trying to win.
Someone really needs to develop some anti morri/doom tech. I love watching people play marvel except when Chris G plays. It's especially bad cause I live in NY and I gotta see Chris G lame it up every week at big two making everyone look free.
I think it's because using Morrigan and laming the match out is boring and just frustrating to watch. It's FEELS like trolling. If ChrisG was using a different team that went in rather than played chicken, a lot more people would be behind him.
Or because everyone uses those OP characters that can do 100 hits alone even though they aren't designed to with physically. Magneto, Doctor Doom primarily... They are broken.... Way OP when you compare them to other characters.... They are both designed to be projectile based characters yet they can out combo and out damage characters that are designed for close combat... Oh no, I'm not saying it's game breaking. I do think that it's a bit over powered only because the girl still gains super meter while in her illusion super, but that's debatable. The thing that I think balances this strat is the incredible difficulty it takes to pull off and the fact that, even then, it isn't perfect. I just kinda got tired of watching it myself after the tenth video of it.
