UMX Radian | Flite Test 

I like just watching these videos better than actually buying/flying a plane! Why? 1. They're entertaining. 2. It's cheaper. 3. My neck doesn't get sore from looking up at a plane! 4. I don't have to go anywhere. 5. It's safer! Cows might attack me while standing in that field.

I'm so in love with my little UMX Radian, I'm about to buy a second one to fly with my kid. Who would've thought such a simple plane could be so fun?

These little planes are awesome! Once I got a full range transmitter I found I could fly this little thing until I could barely see it with no radio issues. Amazing how far the hobby has come.

Got a thermal yesterday that I had to actively and purposeful fly out of or my UMX Radian would have been a spec.. I had a 20 minute flight that time and 160mah nanotech came down with 3.75v.. I also did some outside loops, and also figured out how to get the thing to fly upside down. I've only had it fore two weeks or so, it's my second plane.. very cool little plane.

These little guys are the best soaring gliders I have ever flown. With the Eflite 115MAH packs they will soar forever on a mid morning when the ground is heating up. Easy flight times of 45min with sailing! Get one!

Had to watch this again after watching the latest podcast with peter. What a long way has he gone from a shy guys like this to a youtube star :)

That whole thing where "and they are cheap" for some reason really made me want to buy one lol, but these look awesome.

Just got one for my birthday, and even though I've never truly gotten to fly a fixed wing (Bought one as a kid, but didn't know enough to figure out, they had the throttle gimbal on the radio wired backwards, so yaw and throttle were swapped😅) Glad to say, thanks to almost a year of fpv drone experience, and watching you guys fly, I was able to get in the air much better than Peter's first attempt there haha. 2 flights so far with no crashes! Definitely great for a beginner with the safe select, even though it says intermediate on the box. Thank you for pulling me back into this awesome hobby!

A good tip is to put tape over the leaning edge of the wings as it prevents damage in crashes

Absolutely the best plane to learn how to fly. I flew it solo successfully and it is very simple to control. Just remember to get to a decent altitude to start and you should be just fine. Highly recommend this for beginners.

I recently bought one to leave in the Subaru wagon and in Australia it cost $209.00 I also have the night and the pro versions and do love how they preform.

I got me one of these and flew it multi time the other day. it was fun and easy for a beginner like myself. I decided to go for another flight in the afternoon and the little thing got a lift from a wind gust so high that I couldn't see or bring it back.

So... Where are the cons? What is included for $80? Not a great review or info video. Felt more like a sales ad.

so wait, why aren't they pre programmed to be able to turn them of from the transmitter? buying an additional cable to enable the on off toggle seems stupid and not quite consumer friendly.

PLEASE make a tutorial on how to disable AS3X.

Does anyone know how to turn of the as3x as described on this video. I bought the cable and downloaded the software but can't seem to get anything to work. Not sure if x-port switching is working and when I go to read the software on the plane I get no response. Please help.

ok so if you cut a hole in the back of the battery compartment you can slide the battery back and get the cg where it should be for the 45 degree dive test. it thermals so much better if you move the cg back. just thought that since you guys have had so much fun with them you would like the better flight performance

Hi flitetest. Can you please elaborate on how you disabled as3x. I have the programming cable but can't seem to get it working. Could it be because I'm using windows 10 and not 7?

The UMX Radian is too cool... it flies great but when there is no wind the AS3X is not needed and gets in the way of flying at min sink and cuts down on letting you get the best L/D slope. Can't understand why they don't come setup to be able to turn AS3X on and off as needed. You guys need to do a video of how that's done but really they should come setup like that out of the box... and the box should hold two but it's a great case for the glider. The AS3x really does work in bumpy air when the wind sock is straight. They turn on a dime compared to larger polyhedral wing gliders and can handle some wind and penetrate surprisingly well.

The funny thing is that I just got one of these for Christmas and I got a dx6i transmitter. Now I just got to wait on spring

The instructions state there is a high rate for these is that true? For some reason mine doesn’t want to climb high like y’all’s did.

It is a fun little plane when I don't have time to go to the flying field after work I take this to the football field and fly around. I have flown it it winds of 8 mph gusting up to 12 mph.

My first one got caught in the wind and flew off. Never saw it again. I have a new one and can't wait to fly it!

Can you show how you install the AS3X USB interface cable program on a computer? I can't get mine to recognise any of my models when I plug it in.

I have a sport cub s since im just a beginner. im planning to get a umx radian as well but I want to know how much wind can it handle.

FliteTest how do you do the somewhat "roll" to get it inverted? and also, is this plane very good with wind? because where I live, there's never a day with no wind. I have a hobbyzone duet and if there was a 2+ mph wind, the duet cant handle it.

Put tape over battery when flying aerobatics. I lost one in a loop and it fluttered uncontrollably into shrubbery.

at your home area there is a raised oval... have you tried micro sloping, there looks to be enough of a bank on the oval to give enough lift... I regularly fly of some small dunes with about the same height of slope...give it a go please...

Hey how about a review of some fms, rochobby, or freewing planes. Enjoying my Roc v tail immensely. Also have a freewing stinger thats a hoot. And why not a vendor experience. Say four orders placed on the same day for roughly the same amount/kind of items. Grade on speed, accuracy of description,packaging, etc. I see alot of newbies sour fast just trying to sift through the myriad vendors out there!

what happens when the battery gets low?

Can anyone tell me if I can use the radio that came with my Blade Nano QX with this? My regular radio is a Flysky FST6 and wouldn't work (as far as I know), so I'm hoping the one I got with the NQX will be compatible. Also, if it would, what kind of range could I get out of it?

really, Flite Test... I spotted a phantom in that 'R/C newbies collection' shot... please don't tell me you're recommending a newb like me spend a grand. aside from the sponsor plugging, this seemed like a decent review.

The reviews for the programming cable to shut off the stability mode say it is not worth it because it is a nightmare to load on the computer.

What did you use to record up in the air?

Can a beginner fly this radian? Is it easy?

The show is fine, not every episode is going to be great,so what if it's a product plug, they have done short reviews with other models before and there is nothing wrong with doing it. They recommend a cheap and easy to fly plane for anyone looking to get into RC Planes or those already flying RC. Yes we are all sad to see David go home, but FT is still one of the coolest channels on YT regardless of new content. They have done and are still doing so much for the RC community on what could be called a "Global" scale. So all you snot nosed little whiners who are so addicted to your instant gratification/ instant entertainment/ me first attitudes mixed with the audacity of thinking you actually deserve anything from them at all need to remember that. Go and try to make something better if you think you know how it should be done. p.s. Happy to see Peter with the FT family, i know you guys must be working on some pretty cool stuff together to reveal to us in the future, looking forward to it.

Are these a good beginner plane?

I understand this a free video but, it is not to the usual quality that is delivered. More information on the model would been nice. I understand they have to pay the bills but, during a 6 min video there is more about a sponsor than product kinda leaves me wanting. Stick to the 12- 15 min long videos and place the sponsors on the back 3 mins please.
