Olight's first multitool option is a very compelling EDC option and great value, but can the Otacle P1 stand up against the Leatherman Style PS and Leatherman Squirt? Let's find out!

@@antonygrove5925 I'm hoping to get that Roxon Flex on the channel to review, the one that you can choose the tools, but it may have to wait a bit as funds are limited and the Olight sale is calling....

I have this tool tucked into one of my pockets on my Alpaca pouch. I love a small multi with pliers. This has been great so far. Thanks for the r4eview!

Glad you enjoyed it! It's a surprisingly good tool, I keep finding I put it in my pocket on a lot of days over other options!

A review is made better when the gear is put to the test. How do we know if the knife sharpness is sufficient? And mentioning the particular materials and the significance, application, and function thereof helps people to make more informed decisions. Stuff like that. Field tests bring more viewers and subscribers. I'm always very careful what I buy since I'm on a budget so whatever I'm considering buying I refer to RU-vid, examine specifications of materials, search for terms I'm not aware of, ask Google all sorts of questions, compare prices, etc. Good video and I appreciate it. It's very difficult to hear which makes an unexpected advertisement irksome seeing as the volume of advertisements are always high in volume. Happy to subscribe to your channel

@gearedforward Год назад
Welcome to the channel! Apologies for the volume, my recording setup is very basic at the moment so the volume can be a bit hit-and-miss but I'll work to improve that. I appreciate seeing tools tested out and am open to including more of that kind of footage in future videos. At the moment my time to produce these videos is fairly limited as it's a hobby, though I hope to continue to grow so I can invest more time and money into it. Your feedback is greatly appreciated and I assure you I do pay attention to subscriber feedback and suggestions!

I've had this tool in my pants fifth pocket for about two months, with the lanyard hole attached to my Nitecore Tiki. I managed to put it through it's paces when I visited my folks around Father's day here in the US, and used it to work on his lawnmower. The Phillips screwdriver especially came in handy. I'm impressed by the fact that it's one of the few, if not the only tool of it's size that comes with a can opener, and it has the majority of tools one would need for a tool it's size. I also own several SAKS and a SOG Powerpint, and would argue that this has more useful tools than the SOG.
@gearedforward
@gearedforward Год назад
Thanks for your perspective! Have you tried out the can opener? I don't have much use for them personally, but I'm always curious how well a company can pull it off. I'm looking forward to picking up a Powerpint in future to compare against this and some Leatherman tools.

I got one of these on the last sale and for the price it’s a good quality tool. Perhaps O light is keeping an eye on quality control having their own branding on the tool.
@gearedforward

I hope that's the case, I can confirm that I still use this tool regularly and still have had no issues personally.

This reminds me a lot of the Xiaomi Huohou multi tool, this one has scissors as the main tool, a box opener/file, a kind of tanto knife blade, a bottle opener/screwdriver, a glasses screwdriver, a sim tray opener/pokey thingy, and even like victorinox it has two scale tools, a, well what they call an ear pick, the only tool I could have gone without, though since the system for these scale tools is very simple, just a flat piece of metal with a bend so it can be pulled out with a fingernail, I could fasion some other tool with it, or even just modify the earpick into a toothpick or even sharper poky thingy. and it conly costs from 16€ to 20€ and the springs on the whole tool are really nice and snappy too, especially for the scissors.
@gearedforward
@gearedforward Год назад
Now that's a tool I need to look into! I can see the visual resemblance with the black handles and at that price it's certainly worth checking out, thanks for the heads up!

This is the same setup as the “NextTool” , but I like the looks of the nextool better
@ex7229
@ex7229 Год назад
I bought it, its a great budget option however the scissors are bad I dont like the way they fold out its not smooth. Some of the tools feel thin and not as strong. Leatherman is much better quality, the ES4, PS4 beat it by a mile. I will say the olight is better than the Style PS and I even would prefer it over the micra as well. If they made a better design for the scissors I'd be more interested. This is made by Nextool its a Mini Sailor I have its origional which is identical. If victorinox had a small pliers unit it would beat it but they have bad pliers and do not offer it on these smaller tools. The powerpint is also better imo.
@gearedforward
@gearedforward Год назад
I haven't had the chance to try a powerpint yet, but it's definitely on my to-buy list. I mention in the video it's a rebranded Nextool and the scissors are certainly a weak point, I generally don't like scissors that require two folds (this includes the Wave's scissors). I do prefer the knife on the P1 though to the Squirt, I'm not a fan of chisel grinds and the longer blade and handle of the P1 makes it a little more pleasant to use. The price is definitely what underpins the comparison though, if they were more evenly priced then it'd be a lot tougher, but the P1's value is through the roof as is.

@@fredperry9235 What I mean is more about categories, this is more in line with the Squirt or Dime, keychain MTs basically. At a certain point you have to consider what weight/size vs tools makes sense for you. But for comparison purposes categorising things makes more sense, like instead of comparing a Supertool to a Wave, you'd compare a Rebar.

definitely not better than a leatherman.
@gearedforward
@gearedforward 10 месяцев назад
I can't speak to the quality assurance or warranty comparison, but it definitely gives the size range from Leatherman a run for their money. It would be a closer comparison a decade or so ago, but Leatherman's price increases have been steadily bringing down their overall value proposition. Don't get me wrong, I like Leatherman and have a couple of their tools in this size range, but that also informed my opinion here.
