Unbelievable! 21 queen cells found while doing a huge bee hive removal and relocation.

Over the years I have probably done close to 300 hive removals, and in all that time, I have never encountered a hive with this many queen cells in it. Finding queen cells in a hive during the early spring is a very common sight, but to find 21 of them, that's a new record for me.
It's always a great adventure when Wreck it Ralph and Good Time Charlie are there at my side, but because there was no demo on this removal, Ralph was relegated to simply handling the comb and removing all the queen cells, a job I must say he preformed flawlessly. And what about Charlie, he was there for his quality videoing as well as his helpful instruction.
After we did the removal, we set up a swarm trap for the homeowners who was grateful for that as well as having the bees removed from his garage. It seems swarms are attracted to this location, and we saw evidence of 3 prior colonies in the same spot we removed this one. I'm positive the homeowner will have a swarm before the spring is over.
Though we did not see the queen on this one, with all the cells we got, the colony will be queen right in the very near future, if she was not vacuumed. I hope you enjoy watching, and I look forward to reading and replying to your comments. Thanks for watching. God's peace to all. Mr. Ed

2 things, Jeff.....you need a headlamp light that fits over your beekeepers mask. You also may want to add a softer touch to the end of your bee removal wand hose to make it less abrasive to them as you move your wand over them to vacuume them up. Thank you for you wonderful videos!!

I have tried 4 or 5 headlamps, they just don't put the light where I need it, holding the flashlight with my teeth has proven my best method to see where I need to see. I have tried attaching a brush to the tip of my nozzle, but it tended to push bees away even before they were vacuumed. The hard tip has proven the best method and it does not matter if honey gets on it like a brush. Still, thank you for your suggestions and for watching. God's peace Linda. Mr. Ed

@@JeffHorchoff yes I do enjoy the videos, I only have one hive,but I have around an acre 1/4 and I've got flowers Everywhere, and my favorite this year are wallflowers, so beautiful and fragrant bees love them. I'm a seed saver and always have plenty flowers. The bees are in the garden., thanks for your videos and the time you take to make them.

Low hanger there. Those bees liked to make artistic designs with their comb. Man I could use some of those queen cells. I have to recover about 30% losses from last fall. Yeah, they would have flew the coop in a day or two. Man that was a big hive. Big ole slabs. That one queen cell had emerged. You got a virgin in there somewhere. Nice time lapse and removal by the Three Amigos. Priceless ending, you guys are a hoot to watch. Take care.

I thought that there was a virgin loose as well until I looked into the cell, it still had the larva in it. Every cell was a viable cell, but a few had not been sealed off yet. You saw in the video where they were sealing off a few of them, that was the first time I had seen that while removing a hive. To bad you don't live closer, it took 3 phone calls to 3 different beekeepers in our club to find someone who needed some cells for splits. The fella that wound up with the cells used them all to make his splits. He's going to have some great queens. Always a joy hearing from you J, God's peace brother. Mr. Ed

I'm not as old as you, only 65, but certainly happy. I know a lot of that happiness is based on the fact I'm retired, for 12 years now, and I live in the warm weather of the South where bees are abundant and gentle. God's peace Gregory. Mr. Ed

that was easier than the wild hive i found two days ago in an abandoned, wrecked panel van! have you ever worked with guys that were affraid to death of those little bees?, it ended up about 3/4 of a box of comb and bees,, with permission from the land owner we set up a hive right with in 10 feet of where i removed them from,, it was the easiest one i ever recovered,, just praying that they make it!,, great video

@@JeffHorchoff Well. i thought it was time I had an image more in keeping with my age. A naked chicken puffing a cigarette seemed a bit out of date. A reclining, bearded gnome puffing on his pipe seemed more apt. Love watching each week although I think we should keep ralph's speaking parts to a minimum especially if big time charlie is going to bully him ;) I don't believe your ma ever said 'Let's wrestle' :)

Hi Jeff. All those swarm cells, I guess you could populate a number of hives with all those queens?? That looked like a fair amount of bees you vacuumed up? it has been raining for two days in Montreal. UGH Happy Friday.

All the cells were given to a club member and used in making his splits, all went to good use. It was a lot of bees, a few pounds for sure. We are being pounded with rain ourselves, even to the point of flooding. Hopefully that won't happen. Have a great week end, God's peace Jeremy. Mr. Ed

I love the new way of rubberbanding the frames. It seems to me it should hold them much better and won't risk dropping out of the sides or bottom. Smart idea
