Exploring small water always seems to pay off. While I was up near Lake Ontario and the great lakes, I decided to scope out this tributary that was no more than 20 feet wide; a spot most anglers would overlook. I didn't know what to expect going right off the bat but I had a feeling there had to be some lake run fish. Steelhead, browns, and King Salmon were all possibilities. First look at the creek had me second guessing myself since some of the runs were only inches deep and I couldn't picture any large fish being able to traverse upstream very far. After wading up for 5 minutes I spot the first river monster. A 20-25 lb king salmon is just chilling right under the bank of the river. I tied on a moon-eye jig head and a grub, started exploring more upstream and the rest is history. I got one of the craziest reaction strikes I've ever seen from a fish of this caliber and the fight was even crazier. Battling this 25-30 lb female Chinook salmon is something I'll never forget. Small water, giant fish, tight lines. And #neverendthesend
