Indeed, it is busy especially for an executive airport. It's got 3 flight schools on it and several corporate hangers and general aviation hangers and shelters
@@wingwatchersaviation I thought several years back Allegiant or maybe Southwest flew a few flights out of here to avoid Lambert. The runway is certainly long enough to handle 737's and A320's...Maybe the demand just isn't there.
@tomsamuelson8512 Spirit isn't set up for airline traffic. I think you may be thinking MidAmerica . Allegant does fly out of there and was supposed to be a reliever airport for Lambert.
I spent many many hours sitting at the end of 26L at Spirit. Midwest Helicopter used to be based right back there too. Also spent probably days sitting at the old observation lot at Lambert off Missouri Bottom Rd. Sadly its no longer there. Now live in Pittsburgh and its not very aviation friendly.
I spent a lot of time at that lot at Lambert too...I miss it. Unfortunately Lambert isn't as friendly as it used to be. That old lot was kept up by both Bridgeton and the airport. Now you can't even park on the side of the road.
