Storm Chaser Aaron Jayjack intercepts an unbelievable tornado with a drill bit vortex in Iowa. Video was captured using a GoPro 360 MAX camera. Tornado occurred near Pleasantville, Iowa on 4-4-2023.
I'll say. I've seen spouts over the ocean do that, or just as the get on land, but not form that way already on land and travel that way. Really interesting.
The scary tornados are the ones where the funnel is noticable when it starts at the ground level first and meets the clouds. And I'm not talking about a dust devil.
That was one of the most unique pieces of tornado footage I've ever seen. Seeing that horizontal component condensed really brings a lot of understanding. Plus, the angle of the early shot is just pleasing to the eye.
Interesting to see the damage path scar left behind at around 1:23 after it crossed the road in front of you. Shows evidence that a roadside ditch could be useful as a last resort since this one "hopped" over the road, then replanted itself maybe 100 yards on the otherside.
If you go back and look it didn't hop the road. It became less visible due to not having anything to suck up over the asphalt but the funnel is clearly there behind all the dust circling. .
I have seen maybe a thousand tornado videos, and this is the first one where the tornado comes horizontally out of the cloud first before dipping down to the ground. Simply mesmerizing and they call it spinning death for a reason.
I've only seen about 100 videos during the past few decades and have seen this type of tornado a few times. Kind of weird you never seen one after watching a thousand videos.
Incredible! It was so surreal to witness this on the stream last night and this 360 footage is even more jaw dropping. It was magical to watch you follow your gut instinct and pave your own path to the tornado.

Incredibly amazing video!! It reminded me of the “Wizard of Oz” tornado. I didn’t realize tornados could actually be that long and skinny. Bless you and your team, may you always be protected and safe on these journeys. It is so fascinating to watch, yet I hold my breath every time a home or a community is in the crosshairs of these things. I could see where it plowed up the dirt in that field and hoped that farmer hadn’t planted yet. Thank you for sharing such an incredible video. It educates us all on the power of these natural occurrences and they are so fascinating to watch at such a safe distance 😁
The nightmarish twister on the original Wizard of Oz was an elongated thin wind stream alot like this one.That 1940s film captured the real catastrophic dangers of thin swift wirey midwest super cell twister.Only imagine an F5, or a more thicker version Tornado which is a few miles around,rumbling down some roadside, towards a family ranch full of livestock, that in all reality sounds alot like a quick Train Locomotive,which lifts cars horses cows & barns of their foundation.Its no wonder most ppl from the Midwest sticks don't like speaking on major natural occurrences of fully disturbing incidents such as the dislikes of this!

That was surreal,until it skipped over the road only to touchdown on the other side,then decided to turn back around heading for the farm houses but went up within some ominious disappearance back where it came from into the dubious Clouds! Most funnel clouds or Tornado footage has its moments,But this is alot more creatively interesting to naturally watch!Only maybe not to full on test ones luck in these matters just might put things into the proper correct perspective.

The entire time i was watching this I realized i was holding my breath hoping it would miss the homes and barnes etc. Then i can feel comfortable with saying these are truly jaw dropping spectacular creations of nature. Excellent work capturing this on video.
Thank you. After the tornado dissipated and I saw there was no damage, I let out a few Ric Flair Woos. But I believe it did end up damaging a home but thankfully no injuries

We were staying tuned to your coverage last night. We live on the far west side of Pella and watched this circle around town and track northeast. Thank you for what you do!
Insane. I remember being inside a tornado once when i was a little girl. Was in a van driving down the road and it developing right on the road near an ohio campground. You could see it starting to come down from the clouds and when the van went under it, the rain was swirling around us in the form of the nado instead of just coming down in a straight line. It was crazy.
FIRSTLY THE TORNADO LOOKS LIKE IT DIDNOT DESTROY MUCH.......TG.......i look at alot of tornado videos and yours is a classic......and well shot. in my oppinion a top 5 over the last 20 years

I saw a tornado like this back in 1991, I was in Eastern Colorado on the Interstate. It was 5 or 6 miles ahead of me and I floored ot to try to catch up and see it better. Unfortunately, when I finally got about a mile away it jumped back into the clouds.

I wonder how many lives will be saved by the 360° camera assuring the driver that they will always have at least one high-quality angle of the tornado no matter what direction they're driving...or pointing the camera, for that matter! So awesome.
Yes, I'm aware that storm chasing is quite safe when you know what you're doing...but c'mon. Just because people make it out alive doesn't mean they didn't cut it a bit too close to get the footage!
