2.57 so Max has the intention not to let Norris pass in the Championship, ohoh my, what wisdom of Herbert! What he is trying to say is that Max should Norris pass and give him the points for free, lmao, yeahhhh right, and if Max does not so, Johnny is going to take care of it, or what?😮😮
I’m so done with these dumb overtaking rules. Im not even a big max fan. First it was drs which ruined overtaking considering the massive speed delta, then all these dumb rules. No moving under braking, only one defensive movement allowed etc. So basically, if the guy behind you has a faster car, you should let him overtake you? What a joke. This is not racing anymore as far as i’m concerned.
This is what they did when Lewis and Merc were dominate. Anyone who challenged Lewis was in the wrong and they should just let Lewis go because he has the better car. F1 has been a joke since Bernie Ecclestone left.
Herbert does seem to have a grudge against Max. He is supposed to be impartial, but that feeling should not be taken into the decision making room with the other stewards.
In what other sports could a Race Stewart who adjucates on penalties double up as a sky pundit. Its disgraceful that the FIA allow this situation to arise in the first place and continue without consequence. Herbert obviously doesn't like Vestapin probably because he's not British and is the best F1 driver on the planet currently This obvious bias is so obvious whenever Herbert is discussing Vestapin.
oh jesus this british bias garbage is getting really tedious. The guy drove someone off the road deliberately. You can admire him for it if you want, but it was an illegal and dangerous move - he got punished - what is the effing problem
Actually, I've seen Herbert declare he is out to penalize Verstappen as much as he possibly can. How this can be acceptable is beyond me. He should be removed from his position immediately.
If Herbert ever drove even remotely aggressively at any point in his career, people are going to find that out and rip him apart as a hypocrite, so he better hope he's not throwing stones at a glass ceiling. It's already hypocritical that he says Max is too agressive but that Lando has to be more aggressive. It's bad when Max does it, but fine when someone else does. "If there is a car that makes contact with another car, it's a ten-second penalty full stop." Now watch me expose a liar. In Las Vegas last year, Max got a penalty for "forcing" Charles off track. While it did initially look intentional, during the replays, we got a replay from inside the Red Bull that showed what actually happened was that the car lost grip and slid off before Max could catch it (we see him turn the wheel, but that car does not turn, indicating a loss of grip; it only turns when Max yanks the wheel hard over a second time, too late to keep it on track). Meanwhile, Carlos in his desperation to get back to the front, messed up his braking, hit Lewis, pushing Lewis into a Haas, which then collided with Perez. Carlos did not recieve ANY penalty for causing a four car collision. Believe it or not, Herbert is just the tip of the iceberg. Look at Tim Mayer, who is both a steward in races AND the Chairman of the Stewards. Mayer is the son of Ted Mayer >>>***WHO IS THE CO-FOUNDER OF MCLAREN F1 TEAM***
Herbert, maybe not. Martin Brundle; however, faired rather well against both Michael Schumacher as well as Mika Häkkinen when he was teammates with both them. Sure, they were better drivers and the team favoured them; however, that doesn't mean that he was second rate by any means.
@@smythie27 As did Messrs Latifi and Strulovich, the latter having accumulated an impressive 50% more points than Brundle and Herbert together in their rather pathetic careers. 🤣
Herbert has become a disgrace for the sport. Plain and simple... oh and this feud with the Verstappens? Goes back to the days when Flavio chose Johnny over Jos when it was clear that Herbert couldn't hold a candle to Verstappen Sr.
Jo's verstappen need 2 shut his mouth and go watch the race from the stands and stay out paddock, he is the baine 2 his son, how would u like it if ur father was sitting on ur shoulder all the time.
Herbert hasn't an opinion he is a Lewis fanboy. Saying Lewis is clean is stupid. He has his own move of touching a rival in the rear making them spin and loose a lot of time or even crash enough to retire. You know. the only 10 second penalty move in mega partial Silverstone in 2021. And he does it his whole career. Max is right. Every non brittish championship is worth 1.5. Thats why schumi is still better then Lewis and why max is close to him.
When there are questionable decisions, Herbert is involved. His outspoken stance on drivers should permit him from being steward. And with respect to Mayer, as son of the founder of McLaren, he can’t possibly be steward too. Not that there is any proof of impartiality from his side, it is just not done.
19 out of 20 drivers said they should change this.. how many British drivers are in F1..? 😂 As i remember it's only 3, so at least 16 not British also want a change. Everyone against his unsportsman behavior..
Dude, like the user said to ya. Stands. There was zero doubt that max did that on purpose. No question. But did you also know that max broke the international sporting code for 2024 with the super licence? 2.6.2.b state, "The fia reserves the right to refuse the issuing of a super licence, in particular if the candidate has committed a breach of article 12.2 and shall give the reason for any such refusal." 2.6.2.d "The suspension or withdrawal of a super licence resulting from a santion excludes its holder from the FIA Championship for the duration of such suspension or withdrawal." article 12.2 breach of rules, 12.2.1.i "Failure to follow the instructions of the relevant official for the safe and orderly conduct of the event." Was Max safe and did he have orderly conduct in mexico, or in any other race he has done, so far? Why do I bring this up? He has done alot more to gain more the 12 points on his super licence for an ban, for the time of his dangerous driving, which is like watch an iRacing race event. He also plays iRacing himself, picking up all the bad habits a iRacing or any sim racing driver has. He put himself and other drivers safety at risks, and his conduct has been bad. He would rather push some off the track or cause an incident rather then race safety. Yes, there need some risk, and that is racing at the end of it all. But, there's a difference from being safe when taking a risk and being dangerous.
If you appoint a British former F1 driver as a steward in Mexico, and another one that is the son of Teddy Mayer, who played an important role within McLaren, you know they were simply out to teach Max Verstappen a lesson with that ridiculous 20 second penalty. It is common knowledge that the Brits find it hard, if not impossible to deal with successful F1 drivers if they are not British. Schumacher, Vettel, Alonso, Max Verstappen, and even Senna all complained about the biased and negative British media. Senna only became a halfgod when he was dead. People like Damon Hill are really pathetic sometimes with their comments on Max. Thank God most of the F1 fans in the world like to see real battles on the track, and who appreciate true racers with an aggressive driving style. What was it that Damon Hill said after the race in Mexico? "The problem with Max Verstappen is that he is not willing to give up one inch on the track". It tells us more about Damon than about Max.
You forgot to mention that the decision in Mexico and also all other decisions' about penalties are made by multiple stewards (Document was cropped in strategic place...) and not just Herbert. This fact should eliminate the bias towards a driver specifically, although who knows how each steward views each driver and inconsistencies are still spectacular.
@@darrelldueck3374 Because the other views would be irrelevant. The board reached that decision by cohersion. Two people who openly hate Max skew the votes. And if the other two won't agree, then things will remain pendent, which cannot happen. They cannot retroactively give penalties.
Zac Brown thinks that 20 seconds in penalties is not enough? Give me a break. He’s the biggest cry baby on the McLaren team. Lando only received 5 seconds the weekend before at COTA doing the same thing Max did in turn 4. Keep your elbows out Max, and keep pushing all the way until the checkered flag in Abu Dahbi! 🏁 🦁 🇳🇱 Also, F Johnny Herbert-he sucks and should be removed from the Steward role before Brazil and before he can do any more damage
Hebert needs to be removed in his role as a FIA steward. Typical British attitude of disliking any other drivers over British ones. He needs to be removed immediately.
You are making out that is Johnny Herbert's decision is the final decision. Don't forget there are 3 other stewards in the room who also have to agree to make the decision
Why do we hear Herbert's comments? A steward should not be making any public comments about the decision that was made except for the decision handed out coming from "the stewards" as a group, not an individual. Further, comments and speculation about why the driver did what he did shouldn't come into account.
Not watching this politicized BS anymore the British bias Brundel, Herbert all of them have made it unwatchable. I've been a lifelong fan, but the bias creates anger in me that takes away any of the joy of watching!
British Bias? They fully supported Max going unpunished for the same behaviour in 2021 when they wanted Lewis to be dethroned. Wonder why they would want that if there is a bias?
@@Mox2077nope Definitely a penalty, at leased turn 10. For turn 4 I would like to see the telemetry of the Ferrari, it seems Verstappen almost went into the gearbox so he didn't have anywhere to go. But turn 10, definitely
There a big difference between trying to overtake on the inside and trying to overtake on the outside … the car trying to go inside should meet 2 criteria: 1 - it needs to be able to make the corner without hitting the losing control, like locking their brakes or hitting the car in front. The car being overtaken can always shut the door. 2) it’s up to the car doing the dive bomb to back out to avoid the collision because they can see what’s going to happen. If you’re trying to go around the outside it should be the car being overtaken’s responsibility to leave a cars width because they can see what’s going to happen. This takes away the whole ‘who’s in front at the apex’ which is open to interpretation about where exactly it is. This way the driver being overtaken has to make a decision on which way to defend. In the case of a complex of corners - like esses, the car on the inside will change for each corner and the same rules would apply.
WHY ARE THEY 24 years out of f1 ? Johnny Herbert competed in 165 Grand Prix races and scored three victories, seven pole positions, and 11 podium finishes. He retired from F1 at the end of the 2000 season
I am inclined to agree with you. As a former marshal and steward myself, you cannot show any bias towards those who are competing. Herbert should not be a steward, it's that simple. I do believe that the penalties for Verstappen were well deserved and fell into the realm of the rule-book. However, Perez should've received the same penalty ( and I am a fan), but he didn't. Unacceptable. Rules can be hard, but they must also be fair. Herbert is not being fair.
Personally I think his comments are correct about Max and his driving style. I think we need X drivers to Stewart racing. Clearly other Stewart's can't make the right call if there life depended on it, if you look over the past 5 years. That's just my current opinion.
Some 10 years ago Verstappen joined the F1 grid and by the way he was able to show his driving skills, he trickered many many new spectators to the F1 circus. The whole F1 world was almost done at that time but he has brought new excitement to the grid worldwide.
Perez took himself out and the places remained the same after the very next corner. 10 seconds for Max for the first incident was probably a bit harsh clearly the stewards are trying to warn Max to stop pushing people off track that are faster then him, the second incident should have been a drive through Max was never going to pull off a move around the outside of 8 it was just angry driving.
Being ahead at the apex isnt a damn rule. Corners have early apexes...late apexes...some drivers choose different apex points at different times during racing. Wtf is this on being ahead at the apex?!?! Nonsense. So what the race is apex to apex?!?! This is ridiculous measurement of driving aggressively into a corners. What max does is send it on inside...or cut in from the outside during breaking or sweeping turns at high speed. With is ridiculously dangerous at racing speed. Max has always done this...why are we being feed there is a bias against max. Give me a break. The real problem is Crash verstappen should have had accountable and harsher racing bans years ago.
One you best videos. Herbert is horrendous and has a clear conflict of interest. Verstappen’s moves warranted penalties .. but they fully ignored Perez’s dive-bombs? Officiating is hard, but Herbert is not up to it.
there was f1 usa qualifying where Norris technically had all 4 wheels over the white line the front right wheel crossed the white line then as the rear right wheel crossed the line the right front had come back over on to the race track Mexico Ferrari cut the chicane 2 times and got away with it max got his time deleted for crossing the chicane with the left front wheel being back on the race track by the time the left back wheel left the track
He wasn't the only Steward in the room there were three others. The only way to have consistency IMO is to have permanent stewards that go to each race
Johnny Herbert and some other stewards (like the son of McLaren) should not be stewards. Also remember when schumi crashed to win championship, Prost Senna? Ring a bell Johnny
Herbert was a notable absentee from the list of F1 commentators when the TV broadcaster announced its line-up for the new year. His decade with Sky Sports came to an end after a shock phone call at the end of 2022, he has revealed.
Herbert is a farce. The other drivers are a bunch of cry-babies. All of them would defend their place the same way Max did if their championship would be on the line. This isn't just about "fair racing" it's also about "smart racing", knowing the rules and making them work in your favor is part of that.
"knowing the rules and making them work in your favor is part of that." - so why are all the Max fanbois crying about Max being given a fully fair penalty for violating those rules?
Too many of the ex-driver/pundits (Herbert, Villeneuve, Albers etc) have Relevance Deficit Syndrome … they feel the need to say outrageous things to get noticed.
Verstappen upset Herbert with his colourful language and when he voiced his disapproval Verstappen told him to fuck off. Why are the F1 drivers on the stewards panels not just has-beens but never-were in the first place.. Herbert, Warwck and some of the others were capable drivers but none of the them were championship contenders when they were racing and none of them would be up the sharp end of a current grid
I feel it the Sky Sports English driver bias is rubbing of on him. Re-read Herbert's statement. Herbert acted on what he THOUGHT Max's intentions are then says it's definitely what Max intended and he doesn't agree with it. So Herbert doesn't agree then acts (penalties) upon an unproven thought/intention ....that's "Thought Police" sh*t right there. Herbert would make a great politician in the UK or Australia. Herbert: I'm arresting you because I think you thought of doing something.......now off you go to jail. Aye Carumba!
Verstappen hate has been around for ages & yes he also deserves some of the points as do many others, look at Hamilton, he was given a free pass on 100's of really awful actions, knocking out drivers on a regular basis with no penalty. We should have 1 set of proffessional stewards who are properly trained, given the tools & who travel with all the races. The sport earns MILLIONS in profits but can't afford a set pool of stewards?!!? laughable
Unfortunately It’s all scripted now it’s like watching the KC Chiefs getting every win because of REFEREE INTERFERENCE Landó should be ashamed to call himself a competitive race car driver Zack Brown is the BIGGEST CHEATER IN THE PADDOCK he is making the more dramatic than it actually is And George Russell has NOTHING to stand on unless it’s handed to him Like his only win this season
Jonny is a gentleman in the purest form and never be biased as a referee he came up through the system and was involved in many accidents and just wants f1 to be safe for everyone He is doing this job for free and thank you Jonny
not a problem at all! Crashtappen should've been more punished even before 2021, he's pretty dangerous and has no respect for neither rules nor rivals. For once we have some dude trying to apply the written law and not ashamed to speak of it openly
We already know British Bias of RUle lol, this rule was so fast change because the British got punishment by rule 2 Race before and they change the rule because not benefit of British Drive so they fast forward the punishment so the other driver outside British Driver can get punishment lol
They weren't. Because on a corner, the inside has priority. Always. You can overtake from the outside, but you endure the risk of understeering off track. Max was in the right in both occasions. Doesn't matter how many hands are being griesed at the FIA, Max did nothing wrong. And if Lando was fast enough, he'd not need to brake late. Even without Max's interference, he'd have gone off track. So now we know who allows, and allowed, Hamilton to get away with the same, and far worse, manouvers that ended in full DNF-level contact and driving with an illegal car. This man needs to be fired, prosecuted, have every decision he's ever made revoked, and arrested for 50 years in solitary confinement. In that order.
Not inconsistent, in Russell case the initial 10sec is lowered to 5sec, because he had intention to do the corner within the rules (even turned INSIDE the white line, unless somebody who made the corner 2m away from the white line.. that is basically illegal, but they can't delete his lap time like in Qualy.. and clearly his cared more to make contact with the other driver like to make the corner properly..)
The quotes you give from Herpert consist of two different types: one is about the steward's decisions. These statements regarding the stewards decisions, dictated by the FIA and other rules are informed and made by the evidence and facts. The stewards have far more evidence and facts than you, I, fans or commentators have access to. Herpert's second type of statement is when asked for his opinion which is what he gave. There is not a single steward, referee, judge, juror etc.. that does not have a personal opinion. All federal and supreme court justices have personal opinions but make judgements according to the law. The people in these positions have been placed there because of their ability to make unbiased decisions on the facts and evidence they are given without regard to their personal opinion. Not because they have no opinion. If you want to choose only people who have no personal opinions to be Judges, justices, stewards, jurors and referees. Simply put: there are none. You on the other hand produce videos like this, expressing a clearly manufactured opinion by twisting and distorting the facts in order to create divisiveness, controversy and discontent. Why, to make money and no other reason. It's very sad and quite easy to see if you look closely and analytically. Videos like this and those that produce them only to create controversy and divide people for money are the problem!
You've just agreed with everything he said, plus all the teams and drivers agree, and yet it's an issue? In football we have issues of there being no communication yet a "referee" here has explained the decision and he's in the wrong? They should have given Perez a penalty though.
I believe everyone is tired of Verstappens’ wreckless driving and cheating tendencies. Leave enough room for each other and deal with it, you were beaten. This racing is beginning to sound like a bunch of spoiled kids who don’t realize how lucky they are driving in F1. Stewards consistency with penalties needs improvement.
I'm not tired of it, Max is the only racing driver left.. every other motorsport in the world says inside line dictates the corner. Fia says outside drivers should get corner control over positioning at apex? That's literally for cry babies.
