Colton Herta pulls off an unbelievable save to somehow keep his car with slick tyres pointing in the right direction on a damp Indianapolis Motor Speedway during the 2022 GMR Grand Prix #Indycar #ColtonHerta #IndyGP
@@wheelman7427 Doc originally said if you go hard enough *left* you'll find yourself turning *right* The one who said turn *right* to go *left* is McQueen...
this one was 10 times the skill of what max did in brazil, max only had to lock all the brakes so it would just keep sliding the way his momentum was instead of were the car was pointing
@@frankiedeltoro1946 people give max too much credit for that save. In the lap before that, he was unstable at that corner, so he already knew he was risking it big time going flat through there.
@@wahyudyatmika5119 It's not in this type of open wheels, those are high downforce, in the old f1 cars or minor formulas you can still do it but in F1 or Indycar it's way too risky, there's too much downforce and the limits are too difficult to understand
I hate to say but talented drivers most of the time either never get a chance or have almost no chance to prove their talent in F1. Sometimes even if they do prove they have talent still get kicked to the curb because of money or influence i.e. Felipe nasr and pascal wherlein over Marcus Erickson or Alexander Rossi over both marussia drivers back when he did five races (where mind you he finished 12th twice I believe). So honestly pourchaire and pastries may never get a chance. De vries might however as looking how latifi has been this year I can see him taking over after summer break or at the start of next year in place of latifi.
It's not worth going to F1 unless better-midfield or front runner make an offer. There's no point in joining a back marker squad when you can win in Indycars.
@@aluaikaa8453 The slowest F1 car is still several seconds quicker than Indy Cars. Who cares, at the very least he will be running with the elite pilots of open wheels
@@erictripton In f1 the cars are elite, not the drivers. Plus why would you want to go to f1 and be a back marker. You race because you want to win a championship. I guess some drivers just want to be in f1 because of the glamour.
@@erictripton Win a 500 and achieve immortality or drone around in 11th with no chance of winning on boring ass tilkedromes. Easy choice if you ask me.
He was sliding. I hope McLaren was watching. I still want Andretti in F1. With HertaIve been watching F1 since 1990 and am dying to hear the American Anthem played on the podium. But that was a good race
@@zsolttamas7297 A no one? McLaren, who have an Indycar are testing him over their own drivers (Herta drives for Andretti) as a replacement for Ricciardo. He won his first Indycar races as a teenager. Looks like McLaren might know a lot more than you mate.
@@zsolttamas7297 Andretti want their own entry to F1. McLaren is just giving him a test but importantly - over Pato and McLaren juniors. Andretti will NEVER pay for him to ride at McLaren in F1. Look at Lando though - think he got on the program without his Dad being worth hundreds of millions?
@@zsolttamas7297 Colton Herta in this season: 1 win with 14º start position. He takes the best winning in the season until now. And we have only 5 races...take it easy man
@@zsolttamas7297 Last season he wins 3 races. he's an excellent driver, how i'm saying...In F1, will come great results with McLaren, Mercedes, Red Bull...whatever. He's Max Verstappen of Indy haha
@@marcioreinertjr5298 what a joke. Max is the current king of F1. Colton is like a Bottas maximum in Indycar. He hasn't been close to winning the title, which is the point of racing.
I'm sorry, but guys like Piastri, Pourchaire, De Vries,... who took (brilliantly) the traditional path to F1 are still waiting for an opportunity, so, if Herta joins the category without winning the championship, it will be a proper disgrace, because it means his nationality is the thing that made the difference!
@@quentinhirschfeld9382 Never said he had to have a shot at it right away, that would very much be the wrong approach; he's still very young and should continue to develop in Indycar and, as you said, win a championship first. There is plenty of time for him to get to F1 some day; he shouldn't be rushed into it - drivers such as Piastri should definitely have an opportunity first.
Unfortunately, sliding a open wheel car isn’t criteria to get into F1. Let’s be real. He’s one hell of a race driver though. Definitely could hold his own in F1
I wouldn't mind seeing Herta in F1. The question is, should he do it? IMO, there's better racing in Indycar, there are less politics, the drivers stand less of a chance to just get replaced, and the drivers also stand less of a chance to get a number #2 cockpit, which just means to be a better water carrier. And, last but not least, the technical regulation in F1 sucks hard as well. In his place, unless he's looking for a multi million $ contract, I'd stay where I am.
Herta has the talent and capacity that, if allowed to (given a proper team and equipment), could become legendary. If the above falls into play, he could seriously challenge Leclerc and Verstappen.
This goes on my Mt. Rushmore of open wheel saves alongside Alonso in Brazil 2012 (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-zVYp1ZqLLAM.html) and Verstappen in Brazil 2016 (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-wQCeQKQ7_vI.html) Hands down one of the most impressive open wheel saves I’ve ever seen in my life. Even more difficult to pull off than it looks, which is pretty crazy because it already looks incredibly freakin difficult.
He didn't win a single series. He is not even a top class in America. In Europe he doesn't have chance with much powerful but lighter cars against real top class drivers.
All racers know it’s best to get the car rotated early.....just not usually this early🤣 👏👏 Can anyone think of a more impressive save or drift in a single seater race car?
